Career / Re: Please Help: I Have Issues With My New Employer by sirxris(m): 7:35am On Dec 27, 2017 |
Nawa for some people ooo. If you don't have any reasonable suggestion or advice to render, why come here and joke about something as serious as this issue. Imagine you were in the guy's shoes. As for the case, bro, you have a very strong case. Just consult a lawyer, the consultation fee is not that too high at all. So, I believe you can afford it. The lawyer, then, will advise you on how to go about the case, and how much compensation fee for damages you can claim. I advise you don't let it lie low at all. You have 99% strong case. The only problem is Nigeria's system where legal cases can drag on for too long unbearably, eating your money all the time (for lawyer's appearance fee) Best of luck |
Education / Re: ADVICE: I've Gotten 2 Admissions, Which One Should I Choose? by sirxris(m): 7:03pm On Dec 15, 2017 |
I advise that you defer the pharmacy admission for one year. Then focus on the JUPEB during the one year. Then at the end of the year, if you couldn't measure with the direct entry requirement via JUPEB, you then go back to your earlier pharmacy admission. this advice is so because med/surg is better than pharmacy if your head and purse can carry it. But then, if you can't get it, at least you can get the second best to it - pharmacy. But one caveat is to never try to do both at same time. you may likely lose out on both ends if you do so because your C GPA would likely suffer. |
Religion / Re: Catholic Priests Dance With Masquerade At An Event In Nnewi, Anambra by sirxris(m): 1:01am On Jan 27, 2016 |
Please, dear Nairalanders, this is a crass misrepresentation of facts by the OP. What you see on the photos is the annual seminary feast of St. Paul's Seminary, Ukpor, Anambra state. The seminary uses the occasion always to evangelize that our culture is beautiful and entertaining, if only the bad aspects of any cultural practice can be removed. Thus, the seminarians engage in showcasing cultural dances including with masquerades and even coffins - all in the bid to show that these cultural practices could be enjoyed without any voodoo or charms or ritual sacrifices accompanying them. The priest you see in the photos is actually the Rector of the seminary. Even the bishop of Nnewi diocese never misses the event. I know all these because the seminary is my alma mater. This is why it is very harmful posting things or spreading some so-called news without first double-checking and crosschecking of relevant facts. The OP nearly now has tarnished the image of the Catholic priest (thanks to God many of you don't know him) and the innocuous cultural display just because either advertently or inadvertently he posted theses photos with the wrong follow-up info 4 Likes |
Politics / No Pity For Buhari: A Response To His First Media Chat by sirxris(m): 12:13pm On Jan 01, 2016 |
I secrete very less pity for the man Buhari on whatever attacks he may be getting now. I take the stance for the following points. First, when Goodluck was the President, especially, a few months to the elections, Buhari and his APC goons never spared him any cruelty and insults both to his person and to his administration. Second, Buhari, when in opposition, hardly attended the constitutional meetings by former heads of state with the sitting president and vice President where ideas can be garnered from the former helmsmen on the better way forward for the country. He showed, to me, that he would prefer his country to perish instead of help a sitting president administer better - just because he was not the winner of the election he contested in. Now, he sits in the hot throne and expects everyone to join hands with him to make our common nation great. What a joke to me! In addition to the second point, currently, there is the fervent deliberation on the removal of oil subsidy by the government to curb the corruption and evil practices perceived in the oil sector. But then, one remembers with utmost dismay that same Buhari with his APC cohorts instigated and led a nationwide antagonism to the former government when Goodluck was on the cusp of making the needed change by removing the oil subsidy in their own time. Now, he handles the sceptre and he expects no opposition towards his subjective good intent. The point remains that I would have loved this man, Buhari, today, and even make noise for his policies if only I saw in him a fair player when he was in the opposition. Truly, two wrongs do not make a right, but then, unfortunately, the various conditions he and his goons listed before the subsidy must be removed by Goodluck then are not yet in place and he is planning to remove same subsidy. Just imagine how much a litre of petrol is sold now in Nigeria, yet, no one is out in the streets grounding his administration, whereas, if it were under Goodluck (just as in 2012), our national activities were all halt by APC propagandists. More still, on another pertinent issue in the media chat, truly, it is barbaric for the Biafra spokesmen to label Buhari a pedophile, and Nigeria under Buhari a zoo. But was it good for APC to have tagged Goodluck, "clueless", " Badluck" , etc. during the electioneering campaign. Look at the grace and civility with which Goodluck has maintained his cool ever since he was ousted from office - always praying for the unity of the country and even beseeching Nigerians to be patient with Buhari's administration (even when his successor publicly announced he would make the nation ungovernable for him when he lost four years ago) Now, come to the continued detainment of Nnamdi Kanu. Buhari said he entered the country illegally (with no passport) and that some terror arms were found with his goons. Good. Inasmuch as this could be true or another presidential lie in defence of his DSS's deafening disregard to court orders, my questions are: when have Buhari and his DSS received more training than the judges on the determination of court cases that they must never heed the court rulings (including in Dasuki case)? when has Buhari turned from being the executive head to the Judiciary head in our government? Indeed, what is happening now in Nigeria is what I could best term a "military democracy ". Why not allow them the bail and unconditional release ruled by the judiciary and, perhaps, confiscate their international passports and place a watch on them to ensure they are not looked for when they are needed in the court to answer to any or more accusations, instead of the blatant flouting of democratic principles enshrined in our constitution. Frankly, I pledge my support for my leader but he must abide by the same rules which he indicts and prosecutes others who break them. And he must learn to be smarter than he is now or else, he will only continue to be very predictable as in Kanu case. 2 Likes 1 Share |

HARMATTAN
(Composed by me: Tobechukwu C. Okafor) Oh, ferocious wind Blowing across the Sahara Dispersing far the cloudiness Thickening the light air Oh, dry stuffy air Turning latecomer’s wash early Easying gully Nigerian roads Grazing our fields Oh, smart dusty breeze Pushing insects to kiss pollens Swaying pollens to hug stigmas Ovaries feeding much Oh, warm sunny fan Being so generous to all Causing unwanted wicked fire Spreading it like hell Oh, unwanted friend Forcing us into countless wears Wringing man’s face of all water Licking his soft lips Oh, ease up a bit Be thrift with your power o’er us Lest you meet reduced admirers When else you return |

My dear, thanks to God you found this out on time. This is just one of the benefits of courtship. The simple fact from your ordeal is that you both are simply NOT COMPATIBLE! So, please dont make the mistake of continuing your marriage plans with her because the story will not end up well in the long run - mostly in frustration and unfaithfulness. Just talk it over with her and break up quietly. 1 Like |

I was in SS 2 and there was this dazzling fair girl in my class whom most guys back then died for ever since she got admitted into our school in SS1. Meanwhile, I never knew back then that she was craving for me too until one day. She asked me for my note ( which she often did) but on this particular occasion, as she was returning the note, she inserted 2 Oxford Digestive biscuits into d book. When I got the package, I was stunned to my bone marrows. Actually that was what I have ever longed for - her love and attention - and see her being the one to make the first real move. But see me oh, I very childishly became afraid afterwards that next time ( not long afterwards) she asked for my note again, I refused to oblige her instead told her someone else was already with it. Unfortunately she laater knew I had lied big time because not long after at all, she saw another girl collect d note from me. She rushed to where I was and flung my lie to my face but very pathetically. I never forgave myself afterwards even till now because this was same girl I had been dying for, even had wet dreams about, come to give me her love and because of my childish shyness I lost it for good. 2 Likes |

APC always has the biggest economic center - Lagos. Why would they be so bent on having Rivers (second to Lagos in revenue)? Buhari should watch it because his interference in Rivers governorship tribunal would show that his trumpeted freedom to the judiciary is a mere empty clamour. |
Family / Re: Should I Eject My Lesbian Cousin From My House? by sirxris(m): 10:47pm On Oct 02, 2015 |
My dear, I know that most before me had already advised you, to the contrary, what am about to say now but how I wish you still read with open mind and discern the true voice of wisdom. First, I am not a gay, but then insofar as am not one, must it cause to turn inhuman? I was aghast to read someone comment that your prayers would hardly be crossing d roof because of the "abomination" happening in your abode. my question is: so, in God's presence fornication is allowable but lesbianism can never be? Second, it was a big abomination at the time of Christ to catch one in adultery, yet did Christ not welcome and even befriend such persons even to the point of being the one to save them from their awaiting death sentence? Third, you said you cannot advise her because it would be like water on a stone. You see how much you've already condemned her and even denied her ability of repentance and the availability of grace to her. What if God intentionally brought her to you to help win back for him? What if he wants to use you as a pencil? Dont ever get it twisted: it is never going to be easy to get her corrected but then you know nothing good ever comes easy at all. You must try and try in and with TRUE LOVE ; you may succeed to the greater glory of God. Fourth, even if she still refuses to change after every frantic effort, I would be d last person to advise you to throw her out. You know why? Christ gave us an expo of what the criteria of the last judgment would be: HOSPITALITY! Remember d biblical injunction : when I was homeless, you sheltered me. You might say you had already fulfilled d injunction by sheltering her in d first place but then remember that happy are those persevere on the good to the end. Finally, judgment of persons must be left to only God. And remember, we all are sinners and in the presence of God, same eternal reward is for sinners - damnation! So, judge not that you shall not be judged. Thanks! 4 Likes |

WHAT A MYSTERY NIGHT! (Xmas poem) By: Tobechukwu Christian Okafor (Sirxris) What a mystery night of shalom! The radiant lone star of the night! The singing angels of the sky! The ’doring shepherds of the field! Heavens exhorting us to come To come humbly and humbly bow To him the shepherd of our souls For peace of our souls to receive. But empty-handed we go not; So, our humility the gold; So, our hearty smiles the incense; So, our love, above all, the myrrh. What an immeasurable joy Gazing into his trusting eyes Simplicity and harmlessness; Fierce tenderness cultivated. World-owner is, inn-seeker was; Rich master conceived, poor slave born; Rich-fathered there, poor-fostered here; Lover of all, despised by all. All hands adjoined to all as one; All faces beaming in one joy; All hearts so love-filled with one peace; Thus, we’ll live the best season best. |

So down and weary I sojourn Seeking but a comfort dose To restore my dear strength out-worn And then met you this cool rose. Your blossoming so menacing; Your appeal so magical; Your tissues my nose be breathing; Now long I but your petal. Just as I walk into your world So blossom deep into mine And keep me warm to face the storm And in the rain keep me thine. In your blest ovary bury me; Wind-shield me with your petal; Change all around me ’cause of me; Hold me, keep me magical. Your filament I vow not break As I thrust my fears on you And you make me safe on your breath. Oh blest I cause I found you! Night will be a pretty beauty With your petals round my side; Coming from a pretty beauty I can coolly face the rise. The swirling of your soft petal And the scent of your anther Filling me like bliss eternal And taking me the night far. Oh rose, you must be from above Wherefrom, dear, you so descend For taking poor me to above Making my spirit ascend. |

To the sky waving; In the sun basking; In the rain dancing; In the wind grinning. Pulses mercilessly racing; The feelings my breath so cuffing; Butterflies inside me giving; Bliss my destined freedom making. Even if seven walls afar, Still I will find you my sole star. If only you would read my heart, I would tumble all round your heart. Oh, your hair’s breezing! Oh, your eyes’ curving! Oh, your nose sloping! Oh, your lips’ moulding! Oh, your chin’s pointing! Oh, your neck’s propping! Oh, your hands’ melting! Oh, your legs’ tow’ring! All light up the sole star inside me; Their haloes so love-drunk making me, Filling up the gaping hole in me; Bubbling the singing birds inside me. Just let me your dear hand; Firmly by my side stand; Believe in my love and Our love be like the sand. Make me feel really real with your kisses; Eagle me; cuff my soul in your kisses ’Cause magical are your lovely kisses. Thus, I can’t drink enough of your kisses. Your love, like vinegar, gets me dying; My very walls of defense tumbling; Yet, helpless me to stop its gulping But feeling cool in the self-murd’ring. |

NIGERIAN FLOODING 2012! By: Christian Okafor T. (23-10-12) In the beginning, was so dark Roaming three-sixty on no mark A form with no Genesis form Waving virginly with no storm. But someday, it towered the ark Wearing no mercy for a slack A grace to the earth swiftly come Gulping all fully as awesome. To come and be gone, crept aback Handsing up in its victory mark A ruthless attack with no form Filling mother earth for her norms. All these I now recall aback Pondering this my nation’s attack Land formerly atop the form Turning a mass below the form. The formless form blew us as bad Numbing us with its sudden wag As grasses spring up in the morn Wowing us in their being born. http://www.poemhunter.com/christian-t-okafor/ Please, dear esteemed members do enjy the poem above and as well post your very welcomed comments and/or criticisms. thanks! |
