In addition to your last line, on election day, we do accreditation before voting. That will check if you are on the register. Not all registered voters vote anyway. I used to use Nigeria as a model for the US to learn from. US doesn't have a voter register because right from birth, that know how old you are and if you are eligible to vote that year. The Republicans and Elon Musk army were crying foul because they alleged aliens were voting so they want to be sure that you can vote and they are also suspicious of mailing voters, some of who could be dead. I was like, Nigeria has voters card. If someone turns 18 on December 31 this year, nothing should stop them from voting next January. So Amupitan trying to know the total number of voters is a waste of time. Let's not destroy something good we have built.

You are not asking the right questions. Even if the State promises rent control, people respond to market forces. What has the government provided that will force private people to not have ridiculous prices? If the government is involved in their social duty, we won't be here but where they don't, private will fill in the gap. They train you for responsibility and they support you but today, you are on your own. About the economy, let me tell you, economy will never be better. It's not a curse. Families are failing in raising both men and women properly today, they only care about western education and white collar jobs. The other things you are taught normally in most African traditions are

2. Food
3. Raising a child
4. How to be attractive to your spouse
5. Rituals

A example is the fattening room. There are similar traditions to this all over Nigeria but we don't even bother to study our culture and traditions and find a way to merge it with today's realities. We just discard everything and start doing public proposal for a girl when you are yet to approach her family.

Sex for instance became a taboo because of religious texts and instead of children understanding it came with responsibility, they were scared with sins and they took the easy way out, condoms and preventive methods. Finance that you mentioned wasn't just having a trade that brought you money, they gave you land etc. They made sure you went through apprenticeship etc. It's not just about having money, but you were taught how to spend and where to spend. I am not living in utopia, I am realist. If parents are serious today, if they have a male child, do everything possible to support him to be a man. A responsible man. The economy is hard but would you rather your boy have baby mamas that will still be your responsibility or a father who knows what to do to fend for his family? Parents in the 70s, 80s and some still do today helped with housing, car or whathaveyou. Those things that will help you stabilize for 1-2 years. Things have changed today but we must apply sense. Did you see that post where that guy was saying that most of us today live scattered in cities and paying rent here and there when we could combine our money and stay in family houses? Everyone now wants to be independent and we all know it is easier when you combine resources than when you go alone.
