Im yoruba and i have igbo family in/from umuahia/delta state and its no secret they dont like yoruba people.  Whether yoruba people live in the east or not doesnt make a difference because if you ask ANY person in Nigeria what region is the most hospitable before the war and after the war, THEY WILL tell you the WEST. point blank

Me ohh igbo people are fine to me but CAN be very malicious and tribalistic IN GENERAL just more towards yorubas. They dont have to like yorubas or think they are fine it doesnt really matter. Most yorubas dont care cause they are like me 100 yoruba friends and about 25 igbo ones,mostly igbo babes anyways.

Obafemi Awolowo first introduced free health care till the age of 18 in the Western Region and also free and mandatory primary education in Western Nigeria, Although, Awolowo failed to win the 1979 and 1983 presidential election, his polices of Free Health and Education were carried out thought out all the states controlled by his party UPN and subsequently all over the country.
Chief Awolowo is remembered for building the first stadium, Liberty Statium, Ibadan in West Africa, first television station WNTV in Africa, running the best civil service in Africa at the time (in the Western Region), He would also be credited with coining the name "Naira".

When Nigeria asked for independence Awo(who represented yorubas) didnt want to join Nigeria with the northerners but Zik(an igbo) entered the agreement anyway, which basically put Nigeria in the situation its in now.
During that time IGBOS were enjoying Nigeria !!!
