Car Talk / Re: Newly Restored 1979 Peugeot 504. by skeletine(m): 10:19pm On Sep 02, 2015
Raymie:
Its definetely not a GL or an import GR/SR. Its most likely a PAN GR/SR. Many 504s PAN or import did come with the chrome detailing on doors and front/rear screens up till the BestLine era. The foreign GR had the clock on the much darker dash, no head restraints and the door finishes were much firmer. Also the faux leather was different than @ OPs Owned both so I can tell the difference. Besides, the made in Nigeria is obvious on the rear screen sticker.
This is a PAN SR. The chrome detailing is factory-installed but I have replaced the dash and doormats. The only difference between the original dash and this is the clock instead of the '504' letters. The front Windows are powered, seat are factory alongside the head restraint.

Skeletine the car still looks very new for this our present generation and the interior is still very neat no torn seats. I am just wondering how u got a car in this clean condition. Did u do any engine restorations and pls do post more pictures this one is not enough o.

It was used and passed on by an elderly man, having parked it for many years.
No restorations to the engine aside the re-installing of the air conditioning and power steering.
The seats were under wraps(seat covers) until I bought it so I have them in pristine conditions.

That's great. Congratulations!

What power steering system did you install? The 505 or 504 TI PAS system?

You can also upgrade to power windows, both front and rear door windows.

From the external door glasses chrome detailing, it means its either a GL or SR model, unless you fitted them in.

What engine is inside? XN1 or XN1A?

As for the body, its job well done.

Ikenna
Walahi, I'm not that versed in mechanicals but I got a great guy that handles my stuff.
I can post detailed pics of the engine bay if you could identify the configurations.
The car is an SR and the body was done in Lagos.

kokoA: you have made a very sensible comment devoid of the usual "gutter criticism" of nairalanders. I respect you for that. But you must understand that the fact that the yoruba and hausa governors never criticised their OBJ and UMY doesn't make Uduaghan right. Change must start from somewhere. Amaechi may not be the needed face of change but the fact remains that what he said up there is 100 percent true. We must learn to tell our politicians the truth irrespective of where they come from or what language they speak.

It is a lie that OBJ and UMYA were not criticised by their ethnic governors. Please stop spreading falsehood. I wouldn't know if you were old enough and well aware when they ruled but they were variously and VERY well criticised, especially OBJ in the south-west.

Please for the sake of prosperity, stop spreding falsehood.

Thanks.

ogb5:

Uduaghan is very correct, the south south people are not in a position to be oposing the president publicly, moreso south south people in the ruling party. How many yoruba pdp governors opposed obasanjo when he was president, how many northern pdp governors opposed Yar ardua?

The south south pdp governors have unlimited access to Jonathan, if they have any idea that can move the country forward, they should meet GEJ and discuss their ideas and try to sell their ideas to him. Castigating GEJ publicly will not bring Amaechi any good.

Amaechi claim that the poverty level has increased from 30% in the 70s to 70% today, what he failed to realize is that the northerners he is presently romancing are largely responsible to the increased poverty in the land
That you were not born or so, so young during OBJ era does not empower you to change history. OBJ faced the biggest criticism from Yorubaland and even in his ward, he couldn't win elections. Adefarati, Akande, Adebayo, Osoba ALL fought him tooth & nail and Tinubu even went to court.
See, that your 'brother' is in power is not an excuse for his incompetence. Lets vote and support competent people.... our 'brother' or not

constantk: Its interesting to note that someday, someway we will get to the promise land as a nation. The recklessness on our road had claimed many lives.two years ago i lost a honda accord car at 5star busstop along apapa oshodi express way when a commercial bus suddenly stopped on the expressway to pick passengers. However, the goovt had left area boys to torment lagosian so long that we are used to them. Imaging the number of death recorded during the frequent clashes on the island yet fashola turned blind eyes to this. The arrest and Prosecution of this man though a welcome development but it is because he does not have godfather like the rest. Fashola shld wake up and stop this selective judgement. If it had not happened to him everything goes. God help us

I also understand that their are foreigners who are members of this forum who may not see this funny, I beg you and ur co travellers who are bent on raining insults on mr president to pause for a while and think about the impressions you are giving them. My bible doesn't support me to insult my leaders but that I should pray for them instead, I have so many reasons why I should insult them as well but my morals wouldn't allow me go so low.
That doesn't in anyway stop us from criticising their policies that are not cool with us but it has to be constructive.
......GEJ's meeting has been scheduled to take place today even before the ngf's election and I see no reason why amaechi should go ahead and also fix today for his meeting with some selected governors "as far as am concern, there is nothing like nigeria governor's forum". Its a disbanded house with two leaders and divided followers and not even a court of law can force any governor to belong to an association he doesn't deem fit to be part of. God bless Nigeria
I see you weren't brought up to insult elders but I see your momma taught you the very rudiments of lying and usurping. If your logic teaches you that 16>19=disbandment then your parents deserve an award. Nobody is forcing anyone to belong to any asociation but when you lose an election in which you wilfully participated, it is only fair to accept defeat and not to bring down the house coz you failed. Oga, please reconfirm from your folks if really this was the values they preached.

shymexx: Even if they revoke all the licenses, it's still going to be business as usual... Just a few southern elites getting richer, and the rest of the country would still be in abject poverty...

The most logical thing to do is to nationalise the oil... However, with the level of corruption in Nigeria, that would also be problematic as well... So, it's basically a lose lose situation no matter how you look at it because the system itself is messed up...

May God help Nigeria!! undecided

honeric01: My last comment on this thread

I have the feeling this young man is not a true christian and i won't judge you if you are or not.
but if you're a christian, you should know that you have just 2 options in Christianity, it's either you get married, stick to one wife and live with her unless in a situation of infidelity.

Or you don't marry at all and NOT ENGAGE in anything se.x, (Eunuch) (This is what Jesus taught Christians).

One more thing, have you ever thought of this? you have a mother who's willing to take care of these kids, what if your dad did the same thing, would have had a mother to look up to that you'd be thinking of her taking care of your kids?

Pray this prayer only if you need God's help in returning the trust you have lost for women.

Lord, heal me of every affliction
Lord heal me of every burden
Lord, heal me of every pain
Lord, give me solutions to every marital and relationship difficulties
Lord, heal me of every past wounds
Lord, come against inborn negativity towards relationships
Lastly, come against impurity of the heart.

I believe you have trust issues and you are tired of trusting and getting disappointed, hence the reason you're taking the route.

Mind you, i don't have anything against your decision (if you check my previous comments), but if you're a christian, you're talking the WRONG route, if not, then good luck!
Oode. Is that why we're here?

At his young age he is such a traitor (ask Obj), this man is one of the reasons why I still have my reservations about Buhari and CPC coming in 2015. The earlier Buhari distances himself from El-rufai the better for Buhari and CPC.

This fool has NEVER answered my question on twitter on his stance on the issue of Boko Haram. He plays holier than thou whereas he is certainly the most corrupt Nigerian on twitter.

Make them jail him as5 (even though its unconstitutional). Afterall he illegally took over people's properties and assigned them to himselamily which is also not constitutional.
