Did you read that news too? Two homes that met fatal ends, after two spouses took the law into their own hands to protest against their partners ’ alleged acts of infidelity In the Adekaa community, Gboko , 33 -year old Joshua Terkaa - Uhir , allegedly stabbed his wife , Lucy , to death with an axe after accusing the mother of two of extramarital affairs. In a similar incident , a woman, Folashade Idoko , stabbed her husband , Lawrence , to death with a knife after the latter allegedly received a telephone call from a suspected female lover at their home in Ayetoro , Oto- Awori . Infidelity has been a major issue breaking many homes in Nigeria, increased divorces, and sometimes leads death as we have seen in the two cases and we found out that infidelity is non respecter of gender as it is both common with the male and the female folk... But what are the reasons for infidelity? Permit me to mention a few which are, greediness, lack of contentment, lack of trust, lack of respect at home,Issues Involving Body Image and Aging,Living Apart for Extended Periods of Time etc... (i might write about these causes in details later) To reduce this menace from Nigeria, I think the house of assembly should start making and enacting strict and rigid laws on infidelity that carries penalties for cheaters in a marriage some of these laws have already been enacted in American states like Kansas, Florida, Illinois etc... Don't persecute me, this is just my opinion, what is yours? Lalasticlala, Dominique, Ishilove Source: http://nigeriaopinions..co.ke/2017/08/best-way-to-solve-infidelity-in-nigeria.html |

That red, spiced rice dish loved in every city and town ‘South of the Sahara’ and along the coast of West Africa,That life saver at every social functions, call it Jollof Rice, Jolof Rice, Joll of Rice, Djolof Rice, Osikapa Jelof, Red rice or Party rice, you are right. Adults and children love this spicy and tasty rice meal. A Jollof rice is a favourite meal in the West African region and very popular amongst Nigerians and Ghanaians alike.. Recently there was an harmless tussle and disagreement among citizens of western states of Africa as to the country that cooks the best and the most delicious jollof rice, No country ever really won the jollof rice argument but Nigerians wanted to have the heads of their information minister when he replied Richard Quest on live TV that "Senegal probably makes the best jollof rice"(why did he say this?you will know at the end of the post) But be it Nigerian jollof, Senegalese jollof, Ghanaian jollof etc they call came from the same origin traceable to the Jollof tribe in the Senegambia region of West Africa. Jollof rice is also called Benachinân in the Wolof language. The Kingdom of Jolof (French : Djolof or Diolof ), also known as Wolof and Wollof, was a West African rump state located in what is today the nation of Senegal . they are main exporters of Rice and they grow different rice species, and their king is called Burba Jollof.. Just like we have Ooni of Ife, Emir of kano etc.. If you have learnt something today.. Then please don't hesitate to share to a friend. SirWere:Lol..you said "heavily modified".. All I did is to write disclaimer and bolden it in front of those lines so that people like you could see it and read well |
napoleon77:no bro you don't.. Read the post well..these advantages are like second chances for those who couldn't get a good GPA.. I d recommend the full post at the link to you..for your proper understanding |
tosyne2much:bro, you deserve a medal .I wish I could give you a million likes.. |
Bellfun:lol, yes low GPA is not worth celebrating neither is it been celebrated in the post, the post is just providing a way out for those who have graduated with a low GPA, read it well or fully from the link |
fergusen:Will you call every student that graduates with a low GPA mediocres? For your information, it is not every students that graduated with a low GPA that weren't serious when they were in school, some combined different activities with their education and since getting a very good GPA requires your optimal time and undivided attention..they couldn't meet up |
SirWere:The post is not written to promote mediocrity as you put it, the reality here is that your GPA doesn't matter nowadays ,it is what you can offer, what you have learnt, the skills you have acquired ... Read the introduction of the post well..the post is not even undermining a good GPA |

Having a good gpa is a dream of every students, but in most cases, this doesn't work out, Disclaimer : this post is not written to incite students against having good grades, nor is it to undermine a good gpa, encourage laziness or promote mediocrity But this post is written to encourage students who are currently managing a low gpa or have graduated with a low gpa, it is not the end of the world, to everything there are advantages and disadvantages.. These are the unknown advantages that are attached with getting a low gpa Note that If you are planning to go to professional school, graduate school, working in academia, or a large corporation, this write up might not be for you because if you don't have a solid GPA, it is going to be next to impossible to overcompensate with your side activities or even internships when applying to these positions, as big businesses are bureaucratic and conservative, while academia really does require excellence in your subjects. Furthermore, this write up is also based on the fact that you were combining your education with other life benefiting activities while in school ,building your social skills etc and since a good cgpa requires time optimization and 99% of your time, it is justifiable that you get a low gpa Of course you won't be able to sit for dream companies/placements , apply to top colleges etc etc. But if you really care, there are lot of things that are achievable without a GPA. They are: 1) allows you to pursue your passion: having a low gpa gives you chance to think about your other unannexed talents like singing, dancing designing etc..it gives you chance to pursue your passion and who knows? That might just be your purpose in life, we have a lot of world class entertainers in the world today who dropped their school degree to follow their passion and now they are glad they had done nothing else. 2)you have more time to improve your skills: you have more time to improve your skills, more time to learn new skills, like programming, graphics designing etc which might be a huge plus for you because these days a lot of employers don’t ask about your GPA anymore. They are more interested in whether you have relevant work experience so that you can transition seamlessly in the job position. If you have a low GPA I recommend doing multiple internships to gain more hands-on experience in the corporate world. 3 encourages new startups and entrepreneurships: major entrepreneurs leading in the industry today were once dropouts or graduated with a low cgpa, but they didn't let this hitch put them down, they created new businesses, new startups that have generated into multimillionaire companies where first class students even applied for employment into. A high GPA Doesn’t Mean You’ll Be Good At Your Job - having a high GPA means you are good at digesting textbook knowledge. Textbook knowledge is completely different from a real life work environment. You can be great at studying and get a high GPA but lack the social skills to thrive in a work environment. And as it has been stated before, some employers don't even require your GPA anymore, what they want to know is the skills you have learned that could be of benefit to the company.. If you're planning on working in an industry that focuses more on creativity or is less conservative, GPA doesn't matter nearly as much. In fact, it's even less important than what you do on the side. i.e, if you're a photographer and you can take fantastic photos and use relevant computer software well, that's all you really need. If you're a software developer and you have a rock solid Github account with impressive, impactful apps, then you're golden even without a good GPA. Straight-A or first class students are not actually mini gods, they are normal students but with some distinctive reading, disciplines and study measures that gives them an upper hand in the class, and makes them pass their exams in flying colours. Class Be attentive Be attentive in class. This is one most important habit you should start inculcating. Learning must start from the class and not from a textbook before an examination. This also saves you from troubles of going through the introductory portions in the textbook. WRITE NOTES and I guarantee, this works. Increase engagement - This isn't like photosynthesis; you don't just absorb knowledge by sitting in lecture. You are on an educational journey. This looks different for everyone, but try asking questions, taking notes and finding friends in classes who share a passion for the topics (and for education in general). Courses Know your course syllabi - If you want the best score over all of your classes (a.k.a. GPA) while inputting the lowest amount of effort, you need to know the weights of every graded piece of work. This is useful when reasoning around priorities. For example. While many would just stick to their gut reaction of doing the essay, you could do the homework assignment tonight and then do the essay tomorrow night and only lose ~1% of your overall course grade. Take courses you are interested in (or at least learn why they are important/useful) - If you don't like the content, and can't find a way to make it relevant to you, you will find it difficult to be engaged. If the course isn't engaging to you, try spending some time on the side seeing where the course content is applicable in real life. Study Give enough time for study. You might be interested in lot more things ,set your priorities. Sacrifice some social comfort and you will find lot more time to do lot more things. What is your studying environment? This is incredibly important. A studying environment, as I'm defining it loosely here, includes where you study, who you study with, and what sort of time interval you study for. Do you like quiet places or a little bit of background chatter, a sunny park or an enclosed room with little to no visual stimuli? Figure out which place works best for you. Do not multi-task Pick less. There are always so many things to do. Focusing on one work is far more productive than multi-tasking. Turn off all phone alerts, notifications once you sit to study. Why would you want to open facebook every one hour just to see whether someone liked your crappy post ? Its useless, completely. Sleep Getting enough sleep is critical to functioning properly throughout the day and getting the most out of your studying efforts. The world is waiting for you, go show them what u got! Go to every orientation programmes You should definitely go to everything they offer for new students. It's a great way to start to feel a sense of the place, to meet people, to learn your way around, to learn how the system works and to start to feel you belong. But , don't sign up for everything that interests you - you'll be overwhelmed by midterms if you do. Rest assured that all of that stuff will still be there second quarter/semester when you've had a chance to settle in and figure out how much time it's going to take you to achieve your academic goals. Socialize You're in a very unique position right now. You're legally considered an adult but you still have virtually no responsibilities and massive amounts of free time. Network with everyone! The people you meet in higher institution will be your friends for life. And it's the last time you'll be surrounded by so many people from so many different backgrounds. Socializing gets much harder after graduation and when you get a real job. Go to parties, just don't go overboard with the drinking Get a hang of the college Discover what's what and who's who. Find activities that are happening around that you might be interested in. You might end up finding what you really want to do in life . join tours such as mountaineering, hangout, walk through school, organized by clubs, fellowships etc, with this you will get a hang of the school and easily find your way around.. Be friends with your seniors They are the most helpful people you can find in your faculty because they have been there and done what you might be thinking.. Don't get carried away though, don't be lured by seniors who don't have anything sensible, or useful to offer you.. Be friends with those who could help you in your academic, career, spiritual life etc.. Have a plan/schedule Don't get carried away by the freedom you just possessed, draw a plan or a schedule and follow it strictly, Time management is key. Too much study? Too much partying? Too many extracurriculars? Too much employment elsewhere? All will have costs. You need to be tough here and it's not easy. Establish a good practice around studies, get your timetable, block out your week in a Calendar app including extracurriculars, any student employment, known campus events, games, shows etc., reading and reports time (Sundays, most students around will be doing this) and map out your time for socialising when you know your peers are too (Friday night, Saturdays most likely). Set up reminders on your phone for when you've to go to particular items. Include one spot in your week to review how you are getting on, Sunday morning is good for that. Once you have a schedule stick to it, be ruthless on that with yourself and others who want to party when you need to be elsewhere. There is no catchup time, campus life is packed, you need to grab a hold of how you manage it. Students wise http://www.studentswise.com/2017/03/five-things-you-must-do-as-freshman-in.html
