Anyways, CecureAcademy is taking us deep into AWS services amongst many other things including pushing the introverts among us to present lol and it works, even the labs dey burst brain. It's one thing to know something by going through the motions, it's another thing to know why you're doing this.

They started from the basics - Linux and we've gotten to the Networking, AWS system manager, System security & hardening sections and I can still see python and databases ahead. Some people are already struggling. I understand.

Finally I can put my personal AWS account to good use practicing this although it seems my free tier is almost over, started last november 2024. And AWS has limited the use of any card previously used to register on their platforms. I'll have to use family members profiles to create a new one.

See some of the labs below, still beginners stuff but don't let it deceive you.

As for life as a Nigerian, still seeing shege. Spending peoples monthly salary on fuel, laptop is down by one battery, e don swell lol. Original internal battery is 50k. Data is gulping money like anything and responsibilities wan kpai person. But wetin man go do. I'm even lucky I'm kept afloat by income from multiple businesses I setup else eyes for red.

I'll solve it. Just need to keep fit and go out, let out some steam and enjoy peppersoup regularly. Things will even out eventually. Already done with buying any business and career courses for this year, e choke. Streamlining everything and dropping stuff i don't need.

Been going through cloud roles and ticking off skills. Applying playfully on some. And learning a lot on Reddit. Nigerian employers dey craze mostly. But like I said its a game. Learn how to play. Know your shit and negotiate wink

ProgrammingRe: 2024 My Journey Into Devops & Cloud Computing by SKhanmi(op): 11:02am On Sep 07, 2025
Been a while. Completed the CloudSecNetwork bootcamp. I really learned a lot. Altschool is rounding up, Don't even remember the last time I logged in, lol. I have to pay the last course fees for this year anyway to access it and I'm curiously not bothered. Make I just collect the cert and move on. Total newbies will appreciate the course. I have gone too far to be taken through basic intros all over again. You make students industry ready by either throwing them into the deep end like HNG or take them through useful up to industry standards labs like CecureAcademy.

Should I mention the group projects are a mess? I'm starting to notice that most of the vocal ones/those that clamour for leadership positions hardly know shit. And it's hard to find serious women in cloud. backend etc. When you eventually meet one, they paid the price and know their stuffs better. The rest are just hot airheads. Apologies to anyone reading this. But if you're one of those, please go for a product management position instead of dragging down the rest of the team with your INCOMPETENCE! A cloud team lead and you don't even know how to set up a Basic AWS account and giving excuses? Damn!

Anyways It's good I've been experiencing this over and over. Anywhere I enter, I would follow them play office politics like mad and clinch the necessary management positions to protect the serious professionals on my team while giving it hot to the so called leaders who no sabi anything just sweet hot talk. Two can play the game, only I have the experience to back up my words. They are either there by getting good at licking ass, nepotism or social charm. It's a game and the only way to win is to play.

If you only know your work stuff, dem go burn you. Play office politics.

What’s with africans and the mentality the children should pause their lives to take care of the parents?.

If the money is there, employ maids or caretakers and make sure they are monitored. Why dump the responsibility on your spouse? No matter the gender.

That’s the point of having money, to buy back your time especially for men. If you go broke, they will still blame you.

If the money is not available, in this particular case the responsibility should be shared among the siblings. Unless the wife willingly wants to help, She shouldn’t be forced. But same energy must be maintained if tables turn.

Many men. Many many many many men bro, planned their weddings in the same way you hope to plan yours..

But guess what happened at the end of the day bro...

They still did all the things they said they wouldn't do. And more!!!
Lol. Same way many other men put down their foot and did it like they said.

I can’t be eating beef everyday, buying bags of rice and buying things in bulk as a bachelor only to go back to buying cups of rice & no meat because of I succumbed to impressing people who don’t give a damn about me and went past my original budget.

Any woman who supports expensive weddings knowing her husband can’t afford it or she won’t support substantially doesn’t have the man’s interest at heart either. And you know women, this won’t be the last time they would pressure you if they see you how you easily fold.

Exactly, where do they think they are packing this money to

These people have surpassed the need for survival

They no longer need money to save to buy house or pay rent or buy a car or feed. Or save money for their kids school fees.
Hire people and compensate them is a problem again!
When you get to that stage, to stop is usually a problem. They need to have more and it usually consumes them in the end. Most of them see the rest of humanity as beneath them and couldn’t care less.

Regarding SIWES, in fact, it has been very interesting. I always look forward to going to work because I know I will learn something new and add to my knowledge. Indeed, the classroom and the industry are worlds apart. Thank God for the initiative to work at the Automobile workshop when I was in year 2, if not, how I go take dey understand all this earth-moving equipment and diesel engines working principles?

One thing about engineering is that, once you understand the principle, you are set already. Na the application dey always different, but na still the same principle.
No updates? This is August o

I see you’re busy on github though 👍

Yeah, it’s an old model though. You might want to get newer ones. Still, 8gb-16gb ram and a SSD drive would give you a snappy performance

Time to go deeply into Networking, CI/CD pipelines and Design Architecture. Set up projects and hopefully cover every thing on my list. Have a project for each topic like this Cloudsec own.

Linkedin has really turned into a garbage platform due to AI and ads, Smh

It’s been a while.

Running 3 courses at the same time. CloudSecNetwork, Cecure and Altschool. I really learnt a lot from the first two especially cloudsec. Altschool just dey fall my hand, guess it’s really for newbies though.

Anyway, For anyone following, this 10 projects should get you up to speed on AWS. Practice makes perfection.

Already identified say networking dey give me issues. The rest of AWS services is kind of easy.

Car TalkRe: Manual Vs Automatic: Which Car Do You Prefer? by SKhanmi: 11:55pm On Jul 16, 2025
Manual is mostly for car enthusiast's, Auto is good for city driving.

If you want to feel in full control of the car, especially when overtaking or while assessing situations, The gear feeling like a 3rd arm and the clutch a 3rd leg. The car basically becoming an extension of you. Make e come be V6 or V8. Go for a manual. That feeling is unmatched.

Those who drive auto can never relate. Most see the car as an object to transport them which is not surprising anyway. And should not be taken seriously in topics like this. How many nigerians care about drifting or testing a car limits. They drive boring big cars and are cool with it.

At least buy a high powered automatic if you want to feel something.
CrimeRe: Cdcare Reviews: Be Careful Of Cdcare Nigeria by SKhanmi: 5:01pm On Jul 16, 2025
Funny, A friend recommended them and I have had no issues. I do think it probably depends on state though. Some places are easier for logistics. Still have orders to be delivered this week and next.

The increase in pricing probably affects those with long term installments. It’s just better to buy such stuff within a very short period of time or walk into a store. I can’t buy a PC or washing machine on the app for instance, can get it cheaper offline even though that eliminates the ability to pay in installments

No, was lucky to meet a dealer who wanted to offload 2.

There are dealers here on nl that deal with direct from abroad gadgets like mikky.angel etc. or go to CV since it’s not a common laptop. You can always check the true battery report through CMD.

ProgrammingRe: Am I Too Old To Learn A Skill? by SKhanmi: 10:15am On Jul 04, 2025
Not too old. Just not UIUX, it has a low entry barrier and the job market for it is saturated. Trust employers to take advantage and offer peanuts, you might as well learn graphics design and be done with it.

Find something harder and stick to it. Cloud, backend or System admin. You can check out other learning paths also or go back to ethical hacking.

And you must have a steady income to back you up.

Back to running gen again, transformer has blown for like 2 weeks now and seems everyone is tired of contributing to repair NEPA's property every year. So nobody is making a move. Guess what, the main nepa office nearby also uses the same transformer but they don't care. Already sacked most of their workers and have a minimum skeletal crew for day to day activities. Smh. This country doesn't suprise me again

I'm giving my new laptop away also. This Lenovo T560 has spoiled me. I can't stand all this laptops with 2-4 hours battery. Feels like using an iphone 8 for writing codes. I'm not done and you're already low? sad Eyeing the thinkpad x240, hopefully one that just landed and not the ones they switched the original batteries. I can carry that about.

I like the HP envy's and apple macbook m series but for now, I need strong die hard reliable laptops. No time to be charging shit.

Strong backups + internet, a good office chair for your back and wide table, solid laptops and wireless mouse & keyboards with backlights are the basics. Lack one and you go see shege.

By the way, F MTN.

ProgrammingRe: 2024 My Journey Into Devops & Cloud Computing by SKhanmi(op): 9:43am On Jul 04, 2025
Started a new semester. We’ll be learning Iac, terraform etc.

But I already started learning terraform with a study group I joined. Deployed a clustered web server already. Understood the syntax and worried about whether I have to come up from scratch with the template and in what order?

The way I understand it, I think one has to learn the cloud platform very well first.

You know you have to create an ec2, the specifics
- Linux or ubuntu
- ami
- t2 micro

Add a security group and rules
Add a key-pair
Create a vpc

And so on. Just like I went through while going through GCP CLI, it’s basically the same process going through the user interface but using Iac.

Well they told me I don’t have to memorize, just understand how to modify templates and tweak. Which is fine with me. Terraform no be beans.

First time I would also be using VS-code to a considerable degree( bash, powershell, git, aws connections etc), learning a lot every week.

This one you are reminiscing about tech journey 😂. Please don't stop tech o. Making money can be tricky/tempting. I was into surveys like prolific and other high paying ones during/after covid. It made me stop learning tech..... Fast forward to now, i am no longer making money through surveys (it got harder or some folded up) nor have learnt the the tech
I understand, I won’t stop. A career is more stable than this internet business and surveys that is dependent on the platform not waking up one day and wiping people out.

Tech will give me leverage if I want to leave the country, this online hustles na to keep one afloat wherever one finds his/herself till they find something more stable. Imagine getting an outlier acc while still job hunting abroad. E go reach somewhere na.

Money still dey surveys, I know people buying prolific accounts and it pays them. One just needs constant updates. Even this small small survey sites like hey cash, boys dey pack am. I’m starting to wonder whether them don add juju join this thing.
ProgrammingRe: A Tech Solution For Kidnapping In Nigeria by SKhanmi: 8:55pm On Jun 18, 2025
My guy it’s not about the tech. If you move with rich peoples kid or expatriates. Most of them have tracking devices embedded on them or their carry ons. With someone actively monitoring on the other end. You won’t know if they don’t tell you.

Secondly, a lot of bad elements are in the forces, culti..sts especially. Now imagine them collaborating to kid.nap people. Or being in charge of the tracking software. They would definitely scuttle the retrieving plans.

This country should be renamed after powers & principalities
