from what i know about malware, malware also use the ntuser, these are known as  malware camouflage and it has an extension of exe. e.g ntuser.exe. If the are in your system, particularly they are located in c:\windows or c:\windows\system32 folder.

You may be talking about a particular malware that infected your system. Anyway, such types of malware are called trojans. They camouflage as system files when they are not really system files. There are several kinds of malwares and I keep telling people that permanent protection against malware is far from using antiviruses. Anyway, am working on a tool for diagnosing and removing viruses right now and hardly have time for crazy stuff like this( stupid marks that look as if they were marked by someone). Why would someone be playing that kind of prank in a serious forum.

I got another hint for you. If you want to get roaring speed in IDM, configure your IDM Connection speed with Lan10mbps. and change the connections to 16 instead of 8. It nearly doubles speed in some servers

^^There is nothing so plain that can be coded except code itself. I guess it's either a game or movie, and judging from your recent downloads its probably a game
Anyway I don't see any point in filling my system with huge games of more than 600mb already stored on someone's server when I can always download it from their server. Don't you think I can find links on your download server if you happen to find them and I will have access to everything you have on your server? The best thing is to get original 7.8GB DVDs and put whatever stuff you want there safely and pack it. If you have 150 DVDs like that. No one will disturb you with space again.

This case has been troubling so many people for no good reason. Just as 4llerbe said. XP can only read from IDE. There are two solutions to this:
To use a modified boot cd which loads the SATA drivers.(or use a floppy loader which you can hardly get). Writing drivers is complex programming, but It's not really that hard to do. Just use google and check up if someone has already done the job for you.
or U can change your hard disk slot and replace it with an IDE Type, then get a bios flashing utility and reconfigure it (This works best in dell and HP and can be very dangerous coz you can end up damaging your motherboard)

That trick only works on xp. I think the best shortcut for turn off, shut down, and hibernation is to assign power buttons. It can also work by this combination if you are fast winkey+alt f4+alt f4

I delete almost everyday but it doesn't really solve it.
Anyway, all these download speeds are too slow for anyone reasonable. As for me, I take my time, get all the download links I need. Create a queue and start it when I am ready to download.

If am getting the message right, xsay's problem is that hidden files are marked X on his system. Or is it he that manually drew it? Like Deji did? Coz he is claiming he is not doing it himself. And you can't say the default icons for the hidden files was changed because the marks are not the same. That's why I suspect it's a malware. Anyway if xsay doesn't reply, I'll knos its one of the usual brews. I just hope my message does not get deleted this time

I wonder why someone would bother the trouble involved in writing this kind of stupid virus. At first I thought it could be mere icon replacement, but the marks are all different. Can you give me a snapshot of the processes running on your system? Write it down or something. If your task manager is blocked, try 'tasklist' in command prompt. Just open command prompt and type in tasklist. Please I am expecting a feedback.

@Tunde: try reinstalling your yahoo messenger, you can find an offline download at http://download.yimg.com/ycs/msg/dl/msgr9/us/ymsgr9us.exe

That's surely a virus at your work on your system. You can type:

reg export HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies C:\pol.reg

and

reg delete HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies

in command prompt and run. Press yes to confirm anything

This will remove the rubbish restriction as well as other stupid changes that the viruses run on your system, or you can download simple file I uploaded here, rename the extension to .bat, and open it, click yes to confirm, and that's your task manager for you. You can come back for more details to help you remove the virus from your PC, goodluck

The Trinity is hard to understand because we don't understand how three Gods who are equal is still one God. It is wrong to say that the earth was created by the power of the "WORD".
