@sleek, if God and jesus are one what i see is dual and not trinity, what about the ghost you people worship

@Mazaje: Arr you suggesting that religions care only about after life. I don't think so, In fact certain ones appear not to even give the least care about after life by giving it a very slight recognition. I don't entirely believe in atheism if you are one because it is also a from of religion constituted out of confusion where an individual decides that the best religion is that of his initiative. He.she finds it hard to accept da mysteries that hav been explored by many others. I think the wisest thing to do is not to be against anyone. It's better to join them if you can't beat them. I hope someone will come and confirm the truth of this thread. It really makes sense nicky but skydancer is right to some extent only that he is again defending with the bible.

As for the holy bible, its just a book like any other, it contains pages of printed text bound together. It does not possess any mystical power of course, any more than a daily newspaper. The content, however, is interesting in what it claims. It was once held as containing the absolute truth, but even this is being challenged.We no longer believe that the world was created in a few days. Modern church leaders are also saying that Mary, mother of Jesus, was not really a virgin, and so on. Back in the past people did genuinely believe the bible was 'gospel' and beyond question, but times, fortunately, have changed. The bible is being 'updated' so that it will again be acceptable to today's society. But is it really meaningful, can it be held up as 'proof' that God exists? No, of course not, we all know that, I may as well hold up a copy of 'UFO News" as 'proof' of the existence of flying saucers.

1) You decide that for some reason that the people on planet Earth need guidance for their own good. Do you

(a) Appear before one person in a vision, give them secret instructions and hope they pass it on correctly and don't take liberties, or

(b) Appear before the masses and tell them direct, thereby proving your existence beyond doubt and at the same time ensuring that they get the right message.

2) You wish to have your laws continued forever. Do you

a) Tell them once and disappear for a couple of thousand years or more, or

(b) Make regular appearances to reinforce belief.

3) You care for these people, so when you see things going terribly wrong, do you

a) Sit back and watch the fun, or

(b) Step in again with some timely advice.

4) You have unlimited powers, you can create the world any way you want. Do you

(a) Make the climate changeable and unpredictable resulting in the deaths of millions due to drought, floods, heat waves etc. Or

(b) Create a stable climate so that the population can grow their crops and feed themselves.

If faith is a personal matter as you have said then I see no reason why some should address members of their own faith as "you fools". . . .What exactly does faith have to do with facts and truths? Faith is neither a fact nor the truth. . . It is just what it is faith. . . .

Are ALL religions false?

This is my final comment on the subject of God and religion. Faith is just that, faith, it cannot be shown to be true or false, we believe what suits us, and there are a great many beliefs to choose from. We can even construct our own personal belief. I did not want to write this page as I felt it would upset a lot of people. It is written however, in response to all those who have sent me quotes from the bible to support their argument that the contents of the bible are true, that God does exist, and so on. Fair enough, it's up to them to believe in whatever they want and to worship whichever God they prefer, but I strongly defend my right to reject religion in its entirety.

Why one great force? why not two, three, several. . .working together, or in opposition, or seperately. Why erase all other possibilities? Could it be your background in a monotheistic faith that leads u to think that there must be only one force? What presuppositions do u bring to the table when u make this assertion so boldly, and where did they come from?
