@pilgirm, I saw your post on ASV translation stuff. Let me ask you: Which one do you think is right? A woman's seed can be a man or a woman. So why do you infer that
1. it is the seed that will crush the head, and
2. That this seed is Christ

Revelations 12 further glorifies mary when it says:
Now a great sign appeared in heaven: a woman clothed in the sun, with the moon under her feet, and on her head a garland of twelve stars.
The sun is seen as a great symbol by the romans, also twelve stars signifies the complete tribes. A great mother of all nations. I do not believe in those who give not the slightest recognition for the mother of Christ even if she was used as a tool (assuming we ignore revelations and other chapters of the Bible that talk about the woman).

Many a time, we choose to claim we are wise, instead of critically analyzing every word that comes from out mouth. It still baffles me today, that scientists have not even fully explored their own physical body talk less of other life's mysteries. We can hardly explain the concept of sleep. We do not know all the functions of the millions of nerves in our brain. And we do not know how to make 100% usage of our brain. we keep thinking we understood it only to find out some years later that we didn't really understand it, or that there is something we missed. In the Pythagorean cult, when one became a member, the person spent at least three years of solitary study. He will not be allowed to talk or question, only listen. I think that will be the best for most nairalanders including me.

As for the holy bible, its just a book like any other, it contains pages of printed text bound together. It does not possess any mystical power of course, any more than a daily newspaper. The content, however, is interesting in what it claims. It was once held as containing the absolute truth, but even this is being challenged. We no longer believe that the world was created in a few days. Modern church leaders are also saying that Mary, mother of Jesus, was not really a virgin, and so on. Back in the past people did genuinely believe the bible was 'gospel' and beyond question, but times, fortunately, have changed. The bible is being 'updated' so that it will again be acceptable to today's society. But is it really meaningful, can it be held up as 'proof' that God exists? No, of course not, we all know that, I may as well hold up a copy of 'UFO News" as 'proof' of the existence of flying saucers.
You are making a big mistake here by comparing a book of wisdom to a daily newspaper. Also there is nothing like the Bible being updated. Hell knows where you got that from. Back before people have gone into the journey of finding out whether the word of the Bible are true and found it so. I don't need to mention their names because they are called saints by the Catholic Church. Furthermore, I know the Bible is true because it also prophesied what you are doing right now. It also said that a time will come when there will be only a few steadfast Christians. This is inevitable and fast approaching, but woe to those who help it to come faster. Also remember that the Bible contains a critical part of the Jewish history. You cannot tell me that a book of history is a book of lies. Romans said we should not model ourselves to the contemporary world, but that is what most are doing now. Christians themselves are finding it hard to keep up with the Bible. You are right to think the way you think depending on the way you were born. The truth is Religion is closely tied with tradition but they are not the same. While tradition tries to give us a moral conduct, religion tries to give us an understanding of the Supreme God. We should not be fooled by our own thoughts as men were fooled in the days of Christ. It was in the Bible that a messiah would come, but when He came, hardly anyone knew. All the answers I have asked in my live, I have gotten it in the Bible. It is a book of far deeper mystery than you can comprehend.

nickybayo:
Imagine for a minute that you are God with all his unlimited powers.

1) You decide that for some reason that the people on planet Earth need guidance for their own good. Do you

(a) Appear before one person in a vision, give them secret instructions and hope they pass it on correctly and don't take liberties, or

(b) Appear before the masses and tell them direct, thereby proving your existence beyond doubt and at the same time ensuring that they get the right message.

2) You wish to have your laws continued forever. Do you

a) Tell them once and disappear for a couple of thousand years or more, or

(b) Make regular appearances to reinforce belief.

3) You care for these people, so when you see things going terribly wrong, do you

a) Sit back and watch the fun, or

(b) Step in again with some timely advice.

4) You have unlimited powers, you can create the world any way you want. Do you

(a) Make the climate changeable and unpredictable resulting in the deaths of millions due to drought, floods, heat waves etc. Or

(b) Create a stable climate so that the population can grow their crops and feed themselves.
Your first three questions are answered by the very Bible.
1. We cannot see God. Only Holy People can see God. (e.g. Moses). We can neither see Him nor hear Him in our corrupt state
2. Your body is the temple of God, so you can only see God through your fellow human beings. Remember the parable where a rich man wanted to come down and warn his brothers. God told him that they have the prophets and preachers on earth, and that if they do not listen to them, they would not listen to him.

As for your fourth question:
3. God has the right to do what He wants and is not questionable under anyone. Secondly, He created us and we do not think the way He thinks, so you cannot even imagine correctly what He choses to do with his power.
4. The first world He made for us, was as you said, but we disobeyed and He sent us away from His sight. This world is still waiting for those who passes the test on earth.

Finally I encourage all those who read this to begin to think deeply into their religions. We have to find out the truth whether it has been corrupted or not. The Church is littered with doctrines adopted with tradition. Being a Christian is precisely imitating Christ. Make sure that is what you are doing. As I have said in my previous posts, I don not logically believe that a historical wise man who called Himself God and fulfilled the prophesies of a Messiah was lying. Think twice in all you do. You can refer to this post for further reading.

If faith is a personal matter as you have said then I see no reason why some should address members of their own faith as "you fools". . . .What exactly does faith have to do with facts and truths? Faith is neither a fact nor the truth. . . It is just what it is faith. . . .
Faith is strong belief in what you have established without proof as true. This varies along with different people. Most times, people do not like to see through other people's point of view and to them, their own view is right because they have established their paradigms. Imagine someone wearing a blue glass from birth. THe person knows nothing but a blue world. Also the same for one wearing a green glass. The other claims the world is blue while the other claims the world is green, and they are both right. That's why we have to put aside all we have been made to believe and see the world as it is.

if u can finish reading everything
i think u will get the writer's point

Are ALL religions false?

This is my final comment on the subject of God and religion. Faith is just that, faith, it cannot be shown to be true or false, we believe what suits us, and there are a great many beliefs to choose from. We can even construct our own personal belief. I did not want to write this page as I felt it would upset a lot of people. It is written however, in response to all those who have sent me quotes from the bible to support their argument that the contents of the bible are true, that God does exist, and so on. Fair enough, it's up to them to believe in whatever they want and to worship whichever God they prefer, but I strongly defend my right to reject religion in its entirety.

Christianity EtcThe Religious War: How To Address The Issue by skydancer(op): 9:56pm On Sep 16, 2009
Reading more recently on matters of religion, I have discovered that enlightenment never ends. We have to understand the meaning, history, and purpose of religion before we can live our lives as we are supposed to do.

Karl Max, for instance defines religion as 'the opium of the people'.

To look at this in another way. I did say religion is a practice constructed by men in an attempt to establish moral conduct and to explain after-life. This is why religion is closely tied with tradition.

It is here that I want to address the issue of Christianity and their mistakes. When Christ came to earth, he did not ignore or disregard the Jewish tradition. He simply thought us a way of life. Now during the spread of Christianity, e.g. the catholic church. Foreign missionaries criticized our traditions as being evil. For instance, some who bless kolas nowadays, bless it in the name of Christ, rather than the traditional way. In Nsukka, Catholics are not allowed to sweep their village arenas because of the claim that evil spirits live there and so many other acts adopted on mere will of the leaders. We have to learn to think critically and not remain enslaved to what we have been thought. As for me, I firmly believe that a good and holy man such as Jesus Christ was saying the truth when He said that He was the Son of God. I do not know of any other religious symbol who has claimed such fact and I believe it's true. The only reason why someone should not be a christian is therefore is the person does not believe in the claims of Christ, which by the way does not concern me. But there's no use adopting a tradition like paying of tithe and other tradition tied doctrine imported in a christian church. I also urge those who are ignoring their motherland to stop doing so since Christ Himself did not do so.

Remain blessed

Mazaje rampage, quite funny. I think the best way to address someone's issue is not to create a thread about them and write all sorts of nonsense about them. Arguments will continue in religion as long as we fail to create a balance between what we know, what we are thought and what we experience in our daily lives. Many choose to deny what they find hard to accept and accept what they want. Faith is a personal matter that most will do anything to defend. But why don't you provide evidence for your claims?

Why one great force? why not two, three, several. . .working together, or in opposition, or seperately. Why erase all other possibilities? Could it be your background in a monotheistic faith that leads u to think that there must be only one force? What presuppositions do u bring to the table when u make this assertion so boldly, and where did they come from?
Do you read wellhuh grin

He never said particularly that there is only one force. But tell me, what do you mean by several forces. The only forces known to exist are the forces of good and evil. Even if they are working together like in the concept of the Trinity, they still make up one force.

Thank God someone else is thinking along this line. People hat to believe what they fear, because it gives them a sense of insecurity. What do we all have to say about the roswell incident or even more importantly 'Area 56'. There are even more mysteries on earth than we can imagine and the ones that we see evidence we hate to believe them. But there's still a question. We think we humans are intelligent, yet till today, we have never understood how our brain works much less understand the other powers that exist in the universe. And some things we call psychic powers, which the igbos had a long time ago, but was tarnished by mordernity because of the claim that all our powers and practices was devilish.

You can start by showing us where your god lives.
You can start by telling me why you cannot see spirits, or can you?

There is no use deceiving yourself by thinking that because you do not understand something it does not exist. Man has always known that there is a mightier force that exists both in tradition and religion. I know there are orphans but even orphans can have grandfathers. If you have one, you can go and ask him that question, but first, I will like to ask you, What is your prove that God does not exist?

@Kenkas: You can either compile it as a library and reference the library, or you can copy the contents of the other class and add it to your classes. I guess you want to use the first choice. To do this, start a library project and after you finish, compile the project(build the project). Then go to your main project that you want to import the project to. Go to your references in solution explorer and right click. You will see a tab for adding a project. Browse for the project and add it. Then in your main source file, add using [namespace of the imported project] You will then be able to use the classes in your library normally. Goodluck.
