CocknBull:Lol...if only, bro. Last last, na divorce. The law doesn't jail/fine cheating spouses. Most ppl who do this do it as an avenue to vent their anger. |
Law is not difficult, biko. Broad, yes, but most def not difficult. |
The Good, the Bad and the Ugly (Theme Song). |
adaweezy:Thank you, Adavize. Lol...I taya o. 100k students indeed. "Post-graduate, master's, and PhD". One wonders if master's and PhD students are nt post-grads. And who put them under the student union? How u dey? |
Fernandowski:Dude, really? It's the MOON. We're only gonna see this in Nigeria? |
People have perfected the art of mocking others to make themselves feel better. Sad. |
TheFilmmaker:Right there in my post, with the first letter capitalized: Ethics. That is one sphere. I agreed with your scientific angle of it. That much is quite well-known. It's also right there in my post that I agree. However, where ethics is concerned, there has never been any consensus on this issue. I might feel that once one's heart has stopped beating and one no longer takes in air, one is dead. Another person might take it from another angle. He might say that once a vital part of the body has been severed, say, the head, he is instantly dead. That is why it is ethics. Legally, in some jurisdictions, if the last state in which a person is found is that of mortal danger, the presumption might be made that he is dead as at the time the presumption is being made. But one might say in argument that "No! Just because he was in grave peril the last time he was seen does not mean that he is dead now". Perhaps the issue of determining what constitutes "mortal danger" sets in. Then the issue of death becomes contentious. The legal aspect is thus another sphere. No one's perfect. But you gotta know the perspectives from which I'm talking before you talk about fallacy. We share the same view on the scientific definition of death. But I do speak about more than one sphere. If, however, you still feel I'm wrong, then I'll be happy to learn from you. I soak up knowledge like a sponge. Peace. |
holocron:I am very much in agreement. |
TheFilmmaker:Thank you, genius. Science, however, is not the only sphere where these matters are discussed. Life and death are very contentious issues in contemporary issues in Ethics. One can say with all certainty that life after being declared brain-dead is next to impossible. Scientifically. Doesn't mean it has to apply to other spheres. |
The moment at which death occurs has always been a grey area. Is it when the heart stops, or when brain activity ceases, or when breathing ends, etc etc? Or is it a combination of some or all of these factors? Anyways, suffice to say that there are some things science cannot simply explain. |
Not taking sides but I am of the firm belief that you gotta be resident in a country before you can authoritatively pass judgments. You see what the people see, hear what the people hear and most importantly, feel what the people feel. Nothing beats personal experience. Come and live in Nigeria first, then you can earn the right to say what you please. |
I'm no artist, but I am exceedingly impressed... |
Iamoluwaslim:Thanks, non-nairalander. We nairalanders have heard you. I wasn't looking for his mistakes. I wanted to confirm if he really meant niece. In certain situations, one's niece or nephew can actually be older than one. |
Iamoluwaslim:Thank you, genius. He said he 'meant' cousin, not that cousin was what he originally wrote. Dude modified his post to reflect the change. U sha dey find person to yab... |
jonaifame22:Ur niece is ur sibling's daughter, oga. |
You were 9 and your NIECE was 16 ![]() |
His accent! I'd love to hear his accent for the character. Will it be as good as Forest Whitaker's Idi Amin accent in The Last King of Scotland? This is one movie I'm very interested in seeing... |
Slow 'n' Steady... |
Not permanently based in Ib but never stayed away for too long. Always popping in once in a while when I was in Ife. Iyana church side. Name's Kunle. |
professorbea:My take is that the OP wanted to say something about the hostel infrastructure in general. Ati interior o, ati exterior o, all na same. Was just aligning myself with his position, that's all. Peace. |
professorbea:E ma binu, sir. The bathrooms are kuku not part of the building. |
Good decision. Prisons are full of people today who don't know jack about the crimes they were accused of. Children can be coached by the real perpetrators-with the fear that comes with threats or lure of incentives-to point fingers at innocent people. One could argue that you would not be convicted on the strength of forensic evidence (body fluids, hair, etc). But all the child needs to do is to be assaulted and subsequently point accusing fingers at you. This is Nigeria, where 'investigations' don't live up to the name. Even if one comes out of it, there is still the stain. One might have to relocate, and who knows how one's employers might take the whole thing. Plus the insane amount of money for lawyers and policemen. I applaud your steps. A o ni ri akoba o! |
Happy Birthday, Omotayo. |
December 11th. |
professorbea:Dude, call a spade a spade. Those buildings are in bad shape. Yes, they are old, but deteriorating as well. There are bathrooms in Faj that have concrete deckings with cracks so deep, water seeps from the floor above! I'm not going to play the blame game here by trying to point out those who are supposed to be responsible for maintenance and renovation, but when I read your "dated back to many years ago but not deteriorating" comment, I just went "pfft..." |
The internet...and coffee. |
Naija sha! Why would locking your hair attract the Police's attention? Do your thing, bro. Don't live your life for others. |
kulobyno:Errm...do you know Waje? |
Dubemkelly:Depends on whether they see it as mourning or not. Dude lived to a ripe old age. Anyways, a Yoruba Oba's death is always significant. Thank God I left Ife just in time, all these dem rituals always gives me the jitters. |
sweetgala:That, I believe. But all I said was dt speculations exist regarding his demise or otherwise & this event might clear them up. |
The Ooni's presence or absence will clear up speculations. Shebi his chiefs said he was gearing up for the prince's wedding? Wish the new couple the best things of life... |
I don't like this idea of religious leaders putting pressure on ppl not to seek justice. What if he had done it to their children, ehn? Will they leave it to God? Something tells me that if this paedophile gets off easy, he'll strike again. 25k, my foot! |
