‘Okada riders are sleeping with our wives; pay our salaries now; pay us our 18-months salary; pay us our stipends and allowances now’, were some of the inscriptions on the placards carried by the protesting police constables in Osogbo, the Osun state capital, yesterday.
The police constables, recruited to complement the police structure in the state by providing intelligence, were inaugurated in May 2021, at Police Headquarters, Osun State, after their training in April 2021.
The protesting policemen, who were wearing uniforms, converged at Osogbo Grammar School area and marched through Oke-Fia, Alekuwodo before they stormed the Ola-Iya flyover to register their grievances.
Speaking on behalf of the protesting policemen, Constable Tijani Adewale, disclosed that they are committed to their duties, despite not being paid salaries, adding that three of their colleagues have lost their lives in the course of discharging their duties.
He lamented that commercial tricyclists and motorcyclists have snatched their wives, due to their inability to discharge their family responsibilities. His words: “We have gone to the local government, met with lawmakers and dignitaries in the state, yet no positive result. We lost three persons in Ikire and one in Iree. These people died in the course of discharging their duties.
“We are very dutiful, even though we have not been paid a dime. Due to unpaid allowances, tricycle and Okada riders have snatched our wives because of our inability to take care of them.“
Meanwhile, the state’s Police Commissioner, Olawale Olokode, who later joined them at the Ola-Iya bridge, ordered them to stop the protest. He assured them that the concerned authority will intervene and that issues will be looked into.
He said: “You are embarrassing the force with your protest; you should have channelled your grievances to the appropriate quarters. You are disturbing public peace with this your protests. As far as you are wearing this uniform, we expect you to maintain high discipline as a force man.”
You still haven't answered my question. Morality is by its very nature objective. In other words, it exists outside of us. It didn't come into existence because we brought it into existence.
If morality is entirely subjective as you claim, then it would not be fair to sentence criminals to serve a jail term or even have them executed because they can simply say that they commit crimes because their own moral standards are different from everyone else.
So where do atheists get their morality from?
budaatum: First, the ops questions are silly. Christianity, for instance, teaches to help one's neighbour instead of calling on gods to help them. It is the lesson of the Good Samaritan.
Regarding your question, from knowledge and life experience.
Atheist parents teach their children the morals of please and thank you, and society will teach the benefit of loving your neighbour, just that as some Christains find it impossible to morally turn the other cheek do some atheists struggle too.
Even Gods find it hard to be moral always, so aren't always the best to emulate.
An Italian nun has been killed during a suspected jihadist attack in northern Mozambique in which a church, a hospital and two schools were destroyed.
The Comboni Missionaries said Maria De Coppi, 84, who had been in the country for nearly 60 years, was shot in the head during the attack in the city of Chipene in Nampula province.
A jihadist conflict began in 2017 and has recently spread from the oil-rich Cabo Delgado province to Nampula.
The Comboni sisters said two other nuns, one Italian and one Spanish, had escaped hiding in the forest with a group of young girls.
Morality by its very nature is supposed to be objective, which means it exists outside of intuition which is entirely subjective. If morality was determined by each individual's moral intuition then we would have thousands of different moral standards because not everyone shares the same intuition.
So I repeat, where does the atheist get his morality from?
Near1: Same place that you do, your intuition guided by reason. If God said something was moral, but your intuition told you otherwise, you might grudgingly accept that, but deep down you'd still think it's not moral. Gods only rule by our assent.
Here's my question. Where do atheists get their morality from?

The Nigeria Medical Association (NMA) has said unless drastic measures were deployed by governments to stem the tide of brain drain, the already bad national health indices may eventually spiral out of control thereby leaving Nigeria at the bottom rung among the comity of nations.
The association has also directed its Abia state chapter to serve the government of Abia state three weeks ultimatum adding that if at the end of the ultimatum, outstanding issues are not resolved, the NMA in the state should embark on an indefinite strike
While commending the efforts of government at all levels and healthcare workers for the spirited fight against Monkey Pox and other re-emerging diseases, the NMA urged the government to institute more rigorous and continuous surveillance systems and strict international health travel measures to check importation of infectious diseases.
In a communiqué issued at the end of its National Executive Council (NEC), the NMA expressed disappointment over the failure of governments to address the “Push” factors propelling brain drain which it said had led to the mass exodus of doctors and other health worker for greener pastures.
“The NEC reiterated that unless drastic measures were deployed by governments to stem the tide of brain drain, the already bad National Health indices may eventually spiral out of control thereby leaving Nigeria at the bottom rung among the comity of nations,” it said.
The NMA urged the, “government to institute more rigorous and continuous surveillance systems, strict international health travel measures; improve international co-operation and data sharing, rebuild public health infrastructure to prevent and control vector-borne and zoonotic diseases; institute multidisciplinary collaboration using, “One Health” approach for prompt diagnosis and treatment; conduct primary as well as translational research in management of infectious diseases, conduct regular training and re-training of health personnel and strengthen evidence based timely informed decision-making in order to detect, treat, contain, and control infectious diseases.”
The association charged its Abia state branch to ensure that the rights and privileges of all doctors in Abia state, especially those working with Abia state government are not trampled upon by deploying all legitimate means at their disposal.
The NMA also urged the governments of Ekiti, Ondo and Imo States to hasten the process of clearing the unpaid salaries and wages of doctors and other health workers.
It further resolved to continue the engagement using every lawful means to ensure the payment of the newly approved Hazard Allowance within next two months.
Bandits refuse to free police chief after collecting N7 million, new motorcycle “It’s been 68 days since the incident happened. We have made several efforts to secure his release, but unfortunately, there hasn’t been any breakthrough.”
On Monday, Mr Gyadi-Gyadi’s family of Birnin Gwari in Kaduna told BBC Hausa that the officer is in dire condition despite the ransom they paid.
A relative told the BBC that the initial demand from his captors was N250 million, which was more than they could afford, so they gave what they had.
“It’s been 68 days since the incident happened. We have made several efforts to secure his release, but unfortunately, there hasn’t been any breakthrough,” Musa Gyadi-Gyadi said. “When they kidnapped him, they requested a N250 million ransom, which they later reduced to N150 million, and now N80 million non-negotiable.”
Mr Gyadi-Gyadi disclosed that an initial N5 million was sent to the bandits. Still, the bandits told them that the money was for food, demanding “one million card money” and buying them a motorcycle.
The family lamented that the patrols carried out by police command in Kaduna were not enough to secure Mr Gyadi-Gyadi’s release and appealed to President Muhammadu Buhari and the inspector general of police, Usman Alkali Baba, to intervene and ensure the police officer’s safe return.
Phone calls to the spokesman for the police in Kaduna, Mohammed Jalige, to seek comments on the development were unanswered.
Last June, bandits kidnapped CSP Sani Muhammad Gyadi-Gyadi, a native of Kano, when he was on his way to work in Birnin Gwari local government from Panbegua in Kubau local government.
I love watching these cretins beat a humiliated retreat once they've been exposed! The same way that their 55 year old"prophet" exposed himself to a 6 year old girl!
Mufakirnaqdiun: Sir you are free to call me whatever you wish,I don't care about that, lol At least you made the conclusion in the first place, who am I to argue with you. At least it will be best to leave you in your state of confusion.
Funny you should talk about foaming at the mouth when that is EXACTLY what your "prophet" loved doing.
It's equally funny how you immediately changed your profile picture to reflect your true beliefs after I shamed you into abandoning your sham "atheism".
I'm now figuring out why mûdslîmés evolved into such lower life forms.
Mufakirnaqdiun: But you just jumped into conclusion,if you were sensible enough you would fem but you keep embarrassing yourself by insulting your God,lol.
Don't you have anything logical to say or your life revolves around foaming in the mouth? No wonder you serve a useless non entity, lol
What a sad way to approach the end of the year. I pray for the repose of her soul and I also pray that you may be fortified with strength, courage and conviction to endure this irreplaceable loss.
LOVEGINO: My Her gentle soul rest in perfect peace
QuotaSystems: Look at me with a brain the size of a grain of rice.
Is it not we dirty filthy poor abóki muslim beggars who specialise in cannibalism which is a part of our backward, satanic culture? Are we not the ones who have been beheading, raping slicing vagina’s, cooking & eating ourselves like animals for centuries?
Look at this one with a brain the size of a grain of rice. Is it not Hausa Full Anus Mûdslîmés who specialises in cannibalism which is a part of your criminal, móronic religion? Are you not the ones who have been raping and killing yourselves like animals for centuries?
QuotaSystem: …and the South’s alliance with skull mining, yahoo plus, cultism and cannibalism is super-natural?
The Katsina State Governor, Aminu Bello Masari, has lamented that the bandits terrorising the state are becoming more sophisticated and daring, especially in frontline local government areas of the state.
Masari stated this while handing over nine locally fabricated Armoured Personnel Carriers (APCs) purchased by his government to security agencies to ward off the criminals in the state.
He noted that with the purchase of the armoured vehicles, the state government and security operatives were more armed and equal to the task of flushing out the bandits who are becoming more “sophisticated and daring.”
According to him, “With this nine, we have over 30 APCs now in Katsina State in order to confront the bandits who are equally more sophisticated and daring, especially in the frontline local government areas of the state.”
He, however, expressed optimism that the revolving security measures adopted by the state and federal governments as well as the security agencies would soon bring to an end the nefarious activities of the hoodlums in the state.
Masari explained that the activities of the informants had aided banditry and kidnapping for ransom in the state and undermined efforts of security operatives in stemming the banditry and other heinous activities orchestrated by the criminals in the state.
The governor added that most of the bandits who launched attacks on villages and communities in the state received information from people within the communities and this made it difficult for security agencies to operate effectively.
He said: “In 2015, what we were facing was Boko Haram, now, at a later stage, we are now facing bandits. It is a very bad situation but we are ready to deal with the situation. We will overcome this (insecurity) but certainly it is a very challenging time.
“Our biggest problem now is the convenience of informants that are giving targets. Any attack or kidnapping inside the community or city is the work of the informants because the normal kidnapping by bandits may be a roadblock.
“But when you identify a target inside the city, there must be somebody who gave out that information. The public must be more alert in identifying these bad eggs in society and report them to appropriate authorities."
floss: The way Agbadorians call Peter Obi "Pandora" as if their Lord and Master Tinubu's name wasn't included..... They'll soon land to attack their father.
Our obsession with unfairness is justified in the same way that the North's alliance with poverty, backwardness and wretchedness is natural.
Naajjii: How many northerners are rushing to get passport to do the so called Japa that is a frenzy in the south? You guys obsession with the north is crazy.
Generally speaking, there are no restrictions on foreign investments in the UK unless the Securities and Exchange Commission deems you to be a potential risk under the provisions of the National Security and Investment Act.
I would like to know if it’s possible to own equity in a UK startup while working from Nigeria. I’ll be working contract based because of the UK labour law but the equity part is seeming impossible
Is there a way somehow? Also let me know if what I said about the UK labour law is true as this is what I was told.
He said Kitab Al Fiqh (book of islamic jurisprudence) Also, there is no punishment for having sex with animals in the koran and there is no punishment for adultery in the koran.
Rashduct4luv: I have been checking for any Qur'an verse or authentic Hadith on your post. You should change your moniker to Liesaboutislam!
Imagine the stupidity of this headslammer who is obsessed with Christianity while his own garbage religion is full of lies and stupidity. Religion founded by an illiterate criminal.
AntiChristian: Just the typical nonsense you typed back then! If your Books can't be translated accurately despite the claim in 2 Tim 3:16 that "All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness" so wetin come remain?
At first, I wasn't convinced about the way captives are treated in Islam. Because how can I as a member of the Ummah call for good morals and justice, then I invade someone's village and I take his wife as a sex slave? Then after I rape her, I demand that her child converts to Islam!
What I am doing is putting myself in the place of others, because Muslims never consider what would happen if the same thing they do to others is done to them.
I always imagined, "what if I was born a Christian and a muslim invades my land and captures my mother because she is a Christian and makes her a slave then he rapes her throughout the night? Why would I want to join Islam after he dishonours my mother in front of me?
Do you know what our problem is in Islam? We never put ourselves in other people's situations.
Imagine asking a young man whose mother you have raped because she is a Christian or a Jew to join islam after hearing the cries of his mother while you were raping her?
These are in the curriculum that I was taught in Islamic studies, but I was not convinced until I read it in the Fiqh.
There are many things that our Islamic teachers are hiding from us! So many evil things like watching the unclothedness of a slave girl from her belly button to her knees! This is very common for them. You will see all these things in the Kitab Al Fiqh (Book of Islamic Law)! You will even see things like having sex with animals and boys in the books of Islamic law! They're all there!
The Chief of Defence Staff, Lucky Irabor has said over 137 out of about 261 borders in the northeast and northwest regions of Nigeria are unguarded.
According to him, intelligence suggested that terrorists and bandits are using some of these border points to move freely from other countries into Nigeria to cause mayhem.
Irabor disclosed this on Thursday while delivering a lecture titled “Security, defence & development in Nigeria” at the Nigerian Institute of International Affairs (NIIA) in Lagos.
“Our borders are largely unmanned. The penetrability of our vast unmanned land areas – the north-east and north-west zones, particularly Borno, Yobe, Sokoto, Zamfara, Katsina states – with neigbouring countries such as Niger Republic and Chad among others has continued to be a key source of criminality and violent crimes in those parts of the country,” he said.
“The porous nature of the borders has made it easily accessible for terrorists and bandits to enter the country to commit mayhem. For instance, there are about 364 approved international border points in Nigeria with about 261 in the northeast and northwest regions.
“Out of this 261 only 124 are manned leaving the remaining 137 unmanned by security agencies. Intelligence suggests that violent actors are using some of these normal border points to move freely from countries into Nigeria to cause mayhem.”
He called for the use of technology as a tool in strengthening the Nigerian borders, in addition to the erection of physical structures and effective management.
He said there is a need to have a broad-based integrated border management system in the country.
