PoliticsRe: Diden, amori Win Pdp Senatorial Primaries In Delta by SledgeHammerer: 12:05pm On May 24, 2022
garfield1:
Evangelist Michael Diden and Chief Ighoyota Amori were, on Monday, declared winners of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) primaries for Delta South and Central senatorial districts.

Amori, a court-ousted Senator in 2015, who polled 142, defeated his closest rival, Chief John Nani, a former Commissioner in Delta State who scored 123, to emerge the candidate of the party for Delta Central.

In Delta South, Evang. Diden polled 176 to defeat Daniel Reyenieju, Othihiwa Ayodele,
Kent Omatsone scored 49, 46 and 2 respectively.

Reyeineju was a former member of the House of Representatives, and Omatsone, a former Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly.

PDP Delta North Senatorial District primary, which went peacefully like others, saw popular billionaire, Ned Nwoko, who was a former House Representatives member, grabbing the ticket.

Nwoko polled 242 votes to defeat his only rival, Paul Osaji, who scored 67.

The primaries was held at Warri Township Stadium, Sapele Township Stadium and Stephen Keshi Stadium, Asaba, respectively under very tight security, with no record of violence.

Responding to the victory, Diden said that the overwhelming votes were a demonstration of the confidence the electorates had in him.

“It is a very good victory, the electorates assured me that they want me to represent them at the Senate. You could see that the election was peaceful and the votes overwhelming.

“The electorate gave me a nickname, ‘the peoples’ messenger’ and I assured them that I will deliver the messages.

“I have contested an election before and lost. I congratulated the winner, so today I also congratulate the losers, today is not their turn,” he said.

The Senate aspirant said that he would not be carried away by the victory, describing it as just a friendly football match.

“Today is just like a friendly match, the general election is going to be the knockout match. Anybody that comes from other parties in Delta South to contest for the senatorial seat will be knocked out,” he said.

The former DESOPADEC chairman said that the electorates had assured him of their total support saying that “any day, and anytime, the electorates are for me”.

Meanwhile, a mild drama played out at the Warri Township Stadium venue of the PDP primary for Delta Senatorial District, the Returning Officer and Commissioner for Information, Mr Charles Aniagwu, as well as journalists from the state, was initially barred from gaining access to the stadium by some overzealous security men until reason prevailed through Governor Ifeanyi Okowa.

Right now it would be easier if the south in PDP come together and join some few states in north Central from ortom benue, nasarrawa, fct, Niger, Jos,

Atiku would be out of the game

Yours that was shattered by sledgehammer is even worse
Dead brain is the south united? Lol....mumu. Edo and Delta governors are supporting Atiku, udom emmanuel is contesting. So where's the united south? Ozuor... Politicians are concerned about where their interest are best protected not what a nonentity like you thinks on nairaland. I hit dead brains with sledge hammer.

Oga, Atiku is actually at a disadvantage here. The power now rests on the hands of the governors. Atiku has money to cater for as many delegates as possible.
Una dey make me laff. How many states in Nigeria has pdp governors? Just 12 or 13 and 24 states plus Abuja have no pdp governors. Make una dey think.

The Governors mostly control delegates from their individual states, and may not give Atiku or Tinubu access to them. If the plan is to scheme both of them out
My guy I've been in this game for years. Many of us have done business with aspirants different from the ones we were ordered to vote in the primary. We always have a way of getting to whoever we want amongst the aspirants. It's pure business, most times our leaders don't give us half of what the aspirants will give. Lol.....who nor go nor know.

This is why I call you people ignorant fools. Under the new law,the category of people you mentioned are called statutory delegates that have been shut out from voting in the convention. Una too dull.......fvck off my mention.

I come in peace brother. Buying the delegates sef dey o. But PMB’s plan is to assist the Igbos win the coming elections. If you understand my point.
He'll need to convince the party that it's politically safe to take the ticket to the south east. Because if pdp doesn't go southeast then the Apc will lose woefully.

When Tinubu won AD ticket in 1998, what political base did he have?
You obviously don't know anything about Nigeria politics. Go and ask your elders at home, they'll tell you that Tinubu was already a senator of the federal republic of Nigeria as far back as 1992. He was also one of the founding fathers of AD at the return of democracy in 98/99. He was one of the founders of NADECO that battled the military and returned Nigeria to democracy. Kiddo Tinubu don tay for game oooooo

Honestly I don't know how the VP will get the votes to emerge as APC presidential candidate. He doesn't have any political base. He has not built enough political ties across Nigeria yet for this kind of race. Nor be small pikin race oo.
