Hello Visa Officer,

I have been refused b1/b2 visa 5 times and F1 visa 2 times. I do believe there is something in the system that might say I have strong immigrant intent or I don't know which subsequently results in a 214(b) refusal all the times I have applied, because I remember my very first NIV interview in Lagos 10yrs ago, I stated that I was going to visit my fiancé. The last F1 student visa refusal, I decided to come to Canada to study instead. Now, I have been scheduled for an immigrant visa interview together with my son in Canada under the f2A category as my husband/child's father is a LPR. My question is - does the number of times one has been refused a NIV ever have an effect on the immigrant visa decision/outcome?

My mom was told to come in for a Tuesday 221g appointment interview after she initially attended an interview and was told it was approved and to pick it up 2days later. She wasn't asked to come with any docs specifically, just a requested interview. Seems strange, do u know what this implies?

Hello VO,

If one has a pending immigrant visa, waiting for priority date to be current to get interview date and then before they get interview date, they apply for a b1/b2 visitors visa and are denied for instance, will it slow down or affect the pending immigrant petition/visa?

Has anyone had such experience? My mother went for a b1/b2 interview and was told her visa was approved and to pick it up 2days later. When she didn't get her passport after 4days, she emailed the embassy and was told interview is requested and she has to come in on a Tuesday afternoon to be interviewed by a consular officer. No docs were asked or required to be submitted, just interview.

Hello VO,

My mom who is not on nairaland went for her b1/b2 interview on August 9ty at the abuja embassy and she was granted a visa and asked to pick up at the collection centre on Thursday August 11th. She went there and was told her passport is still with the embassy, same thing it says when she tracked it online thereafter. Is there a reason for this? Thanks.

Please is it true that the lagos visa office do not process online visa application and its ghana that does? I submitted an online visitor visa application 2months ago (dec 15th) and i emailed the lagos embassy about the status of my application and they responded that they do not process online application, that i should contact accra visa office. I have emailed the accra visa office though but no response yet. When i did biometrics at VAC lagos, they gave me CALA tracking number...which means lagos. So i dont understand. Pple with similar experience please? ?

If it were me...i will invest as much as i can in naija so that i can always hv something to fall back on then go to canada. Canada will giv u all needed comfort true but pls dnt throw everything away and come to canada to start from scratch

Alikote, sorry didnt know u were refering to me. Congrats on ur admission, its nt even getting admission that is the problem, its getting the visa. I am finishing from lambton college finally by april. Did business management - human reaources as well. Done wit the academics aspect, remaing the compulsory internship or as they call it co-op of 4 months. Truth is, its nt so easy to get a professional job but its also achievable depending on ur work experience. Also one thing i would like u to know is that paying rent every month consumes ur money very fast. A standard room is btwn $400 and $450 every month in a shared house. Me i would say buying a house in naija is a very good investment for life...in canada, its continous spending all the time. But i cant also say u shouldnt come to canada if u want to come study, no knowledge is lost. But know that u can only work part time if u are schooling and what u earn thru that is just enough for ur pocket money, nothing much. And after school, you have to work very hard and maybe hv other sources of income to be good. u can buy the house now and then save again to come to canada, u would never regret it. Thats my lil piece. Feel free to ask anything

Please pple..help me look at this...i live in canada and had a baby last September. I want to apply for a visitors visa for my mon to come help me watch my baby. My baby is canadian but am nt canadian, im legally living in canada though. What and what should i include in the application for her? I will be the one sponsoring her. And which is better and faster? Paper application or online application? Thanks for ur responses.

ojoolajire: using the toilet at VFS office to pass away all the stress and wahala. I don't chop TRV after 4months of waiting. All thanks to God and my Uncle. I will forever be grateful to him.
