Sunday Vanguard learnt that the JTF might return the golden sword and the traditional rulers boat any moment from now.
Government Tompolo is Boss and key to any form of lasting dialogue to the Niger Delta situation.

It is in the interest of peace for the government not to provoke Government the second time.

I am tired of trying to educate children without basic economic knowledge. I provided proof that oil revenue last year (when crude prices were still relatively high) was just 11% of GDP. I showed you that in this years budget, oil revenue is less than 20% of total revenue. I also showed you that almost all government revenues in Nigeria is spent on servicing less than 15 million civil servants and politicians and that ordinary masses do not feel the effect of government revenue and you are here talking about forex, capital controls, disposable income budget projections etc?

Are you aware that during Abacha regime crude prices hardly went beyond $12 per barrel, at one point it was $8. Did the Nigerian economy collapse, despite international sanctions and massive looting by Abacha and his cronies?

The are two major problems that affect Nigeria; that is problem of electricity and petrol. The importation of petroleum products account for close to half of our foreign imports and hence the value of the naira against the dollar. Refine petrol in Nigeria and the exchange rate would reduce by half. Secondly, complete mambila hydro dam (which will add up to 3,500 MW into our grid) and coal power plants in the east, and demand for petrol, diesel and kerosene would reduce drastically.

What do you mean expose banking sector? Banking in Nigeria is simply scam. They simply collect government money and play around with it. They borrow back the money to Government at 10 - 14% in the guise of buying government bonds and use the rest to engage in forex round tripping ( buying forex from government at official rates and selling to public at black market prices). They engage in very little proper banking activities. At the end of the year they declare billions of Naira profit. They even scam the general public by deducting money from their accounts without justification. (imagine they deduct interest from my wife's savings account account monthly instead of paying interest)
Then ask yourself, How many Nigerians use banks? According to a 2015 world bank survey, less than 25% of Nigerians own bank accounts;

The problem with you guys is that you stay in Lagos, Abuja, Port Harcout or other capital cities and feels Nigeria begins and ends with your environment. You are oblivious of the fact that many more Nigerians feel no government impact at all in their lives; no electricity, no bank, no internet, not even tv.

You forget that those without electricity thosehumans of Nigeria without government impact still buy fuel at 150 naira for their I better pass my Neighbor not to talk of the hair dressers, artisans and farmers who pay exorbitant transportation to ferry their goods to the market.

All your Bretton woods economics is devoid of reality in the Nigerian system. You don't even know the Nigeria you try so hard to discuss.

You still do not get it, how many sectors gain from government revenues? A break down of government revenues down the years shows a recurrent expenditure ( salaries, allowances and pecks of civil servants and politicians) of over 70%, while capital expenditure ( amount that should be spent on the rest of us) is usually less than 30% ( and the capital is never fully implemented). How many civil servants are there in our population of over 180 million? Does the Igbo trader at aba or the tomoto farmer in jos or even the akara seller in Lagos receive any government money or services? The reduction of government revenue will have drastic effects on less than 25% of the population.
You still don't get the domino effects of lack of petrol dollars to a mono economy as Nigeria?

Do you understand that your roadside Berber and akara seller can feel the impact?

You are very wrong, it is only illiterates that think blowing of pipelines would completely collapse the Nigerian economy. Yes, the Nigerian economy would be significantly affected but never destroyed. I can tell you that only government revenue (and corruption) that would be most affected as government receives up to 70% of its revenue from oil, the ordinary masses feel no effect of crude oil. Apart from the nigerdelta, how many people feed from the oil industry in Nigeria?
Take a look at our GDP figures, the oil industry account for only about 11% of GDP. Services contribute up to 50%, while agriculture contributes about 23%

Even in terms of government revenue, this years budget is expected to be funded mainly from non oil revenues, less than 20% was expected to be from oil and gas.

So how will a loss of N820 billion out of a N6.08 trillion ( that is even if The Avengers are able to reduce oil revenues to 0) turn the economy to used tissue paper?

I'm not gonna bore you with technicalities. common sense will tell you that when you suddenly cut off crude oil dollars that accounts for over 70% of government revenues every other sector from services manufacturing agriculture will die a natural death.

By saying 'the innocent', are you referring to those who support and cheer the militants in terrorism, or those who hide them and deliberately refuse to fish them out from their communities?

The consequences of supporting terror will be felt by its supporters, no question about it. Ask Borno, nobody reminded them to quickly form a Civilian JTF.
The Nigerian economy is already in tatters as a direct provocation of the Niger Delta. Don't push Mr President into more problems.

Dialogue with who, criminals? Criminals will always be criminals. These same criminals made the same demands when yar adua was president, they were generally settled. Their foot soldiers were given N65,000 every month for over 5 years, while their leaders were settled with billions of dollars in cash and pipeline contracts), tompolo was even handed over NIMASA and Nigerian maritime waters.

Now, that Buhari has defeated Jonathan and has threatened to stop the free largesse and prosecute people who stole federal funds including militants, it is then the militants remembered that the nigerdelta is being unfairly treated and making demands.

The government must never and I emphasize, never negotiate with terrorists, no matter their demands , legitimate or not. Once a government shows weakness in dealing with them, that is the beginning of the end of that government, if not the country itself.
The drawback of the present Democratic experiment is that it seems the politicians had deliberately weakened our military while strengthening local militias. Under the military regime a local militia dare not challenge the federal goverment, even Cameroon could not dare Nigeria under the military. Under the military we were able to prosecute two foreign wars successfully, simultaneously. But under our so called democracy, we could not defeat local militias and always begging to negotiate.
These people you call criminals has shown they are capable of rendering the Nigerian economy as worthless as used tissue paper while collapsing the nation into total darkness.

They've also shown that they're light years ahead of the military in terms of intelligence and superior firearms.

Never hate your enemies for it clouds your sense of judgment. I wish to state more objectives but nairaland will ban me using the guise of supporting avengers.

The Avengers currently have the commanding upper hand going into any form of negotiations.

The shameful thing is that all these renewed violence were avoidable had it been buhari wasn't cheered into this by sycophants and zombies.

That our military are today battle shy is a direct consequence of the structural issues the Avengers are calling to be re-negotiated.

This is about obliterating the root causes and not playing hanky panky with the symptoms.

Buhari should as a matter of urgency start implementing the pre conditions to negotiations before this grace window closes.

The Avengers has already shown the nigerian military is no match to contain them. Buhari now has no choice than to implement all the Avengers demands.

Let's all give peace a chance.

When an elected government decides to abdicate it's primary duty of securing lives and properties while prioritizing fighting pseudo-corruption over and above lives, properties and economic wellbeing of her populace, such government has broken the social contract with babanla f9.

There's no need to rigmarole and try to give buhari any form of soft landing or excuse.Look at current objective observable realty and appreciate that Buhari's f9 is self inflicted and self evident.

Buhari should resign before this 'something big is about to happen' happens!

The success rate between words and actions of the learned avengers is terrifically sleeky hence should be romanced and all their terms and conditions met before something big happens.

Let every patriotic Nigerian beg these boys cos Buhari and his demoralised military seems clueless to match these learned gentlemen with cutting-edge technology.
