Politics › BREAKING: New CJN Appoints 10 Dead, Retired Judges To Election Tribunal by slydey(op): 11:43am On Jan 28, 2019 |
BREAKING: New CJN appoints 10 dead, retired Judges to Election Tribunal
The names of about ten dead and retired judges appeared among the recently sworn-in 250 election tribunal members.
PoliticsNGR gathered from a report by Daily Independent about the inclusion of dead and retired judges in the list.
A group of concerned lawyers from Uyo, who declined being identified, faulted the list of the recently sworn in 250-tribunal members as parading over 10 names of dead and retired judges.
They admitted that this would not be the first time the President Muhammadu Buhari-led government has displayed this level of “cluelessness and carelessness in handling sensitive issues concerning Nigeria.”
They described “a posthumous appointment of anyone for such sensitive role in the country as burying Nigeria alive.”
The new acting Chief Justice of Nigeria, CJN, Tanko Mohammed swore in 250 members of the election tribunals at the Supreme Court Complex in Abuja. It will be recalled that President Buhari suspended the CJN, Walter Onnoghen last week.
One of the lawyers told Daily Independent that up to 10 judges in the list were dead.
He named Justice Edemekong Edemekong whose name appeared as number 58 on the list and declared that the late Justice died since 2013.
Another, Justice Chukwu, from Ebonyi State and number 53 on the list, who was formerly of the Federal High Court, is also said to have been long dead.
The lawyer’s revelation also indicated that Justice Stephen Okon, a retired Chief Judge of Akwa Ibom State and justice Okoyo Essang (number 56), a retired justice of the High Court in Akwa Ibom State, both made the list. Also another late Judge, Justice Ubiri was also appointed. PoliticsNGR learned that Ubiri was buried at Usiefurun, Ughelli South, Delta in 2017.
The lawyers expressed concerns that if such errors could be spotted at a glance on such a sensitive list and on the first official outing of the new acting CJN, then Nigeria may be heading towards doom.
“If dead and retired men are to sit on our election petition tribunal, then the APC-led federal government is out to drown this country and we vehemently reject a list parading dead men as members of the tribunal,” they said.

BREAKING: APC planning to forcefully takeover National Assembly tomorrow – CUPP
The National Assembly will be reconvening tomorrow to discuss the controversial suspension of the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Walter Onnoghen. Below is a statement made available to PoliticsNGR signed by the National Spokesperson of the CUPP, Ikenga Ugochinyere;
“APC GOVT PLOTTING VIOLENT TAKEOVER OF THE LEADERSHIP OF THE NATIONAL ASSEMBLY ON TUESDAY, 29TH JANUARY, 2019
.SARAKI, EKWEREMADU, DOGARA, DINO TO BE ARRESTED BY MONDAY MIDNIGHT.
.APC HAVE PERFECTED PLOT TO ANNOUNCE FACTIONAL NASS LEADERSHIP ON TUESDAY.

. SEN.AHMED LAWAN, HOPE UZODIMMA, GODSWILL AKPABIO TO BE ANNOUNCED AS FACTIONAL SENATE PRESIDENT, DEPUTY SENATE PRESIDENT AND SENATE LEADER
.GBAJABIAMILA, ABDULMUMIN JIBRIN TO BE ANNOUNCED AS FACTIONAL SPEAKER, DEPUTY SPEAKER
.BUHARI LED APC HAS GIVEN GO AHEAD NOD
.ALI NDUME, OMO-AGEGE, GEORGE AKUME, HOPE, LAWAN, ABDULLAHI ADAMU ARE ARROWHEADS
. SOME SENATORS RECEIVING $70, 000 AND HOUSE MEMBERS RECEIVING $40, 000 FOR ‘WELFARE’ TO JOIN IN THE MOVE
.SARAKI, DOGARA, EKWEREMMADU, LASUN, MURRAY-BRUCE, MELAYE TO BE STOPPED FROM ACCESSING THE NATIONAL ASSEMBLY ON TUESDAY
.CALLS ON NIGERIANS TO RISE UP NOW, BE VIGILANT AND DEFEND OUR DEMOCRACY BEFORE IT IS TOO LATE.
The CUPP is once again raising alarm having received incontrovertible facts over a fresh plot that has been hatched and which has received the go-ahead nod of President Muhammadu Buhari led APC govt for a violent, undemocratic, unlawful, illegal and demonic takeover of the leadership of both Chambers of the National Assembly on Tuesday, 29th January, 2019. The APC led Federal government are of the firm belief that Tuesday is their best and last chance to effect the changes as their control of the judiciary will be put to use to ensure there is no reversal of justice for the present occupants. The Senate will reconvene on Tuesday to discuss the suspension of the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Walter Onnoghen by President Muhammadu Buhari.
The APC is ready to do whatever it takes to destroy the very fulcrum of our constitutional democracy on Tuesday and have vowed, it is tomorrow or never. The judicial coup which they believed was supposed to be more difficult went very easily beyond their imagination hence the need to complete the takeover of the National Assembly immediately so that the distraction of the election campaigns will be put to use. They have also resolved that the government will make some big positive announcements tomorrow being Monday, 28th January so as to deflect the minds of Nigerians. Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, Chibuike Amaechi and Babatunde Fashola have been saddled with the responsibility of choosing the issue for announcement by the government.
The plot will see the criminal announcement of Sen. Ahmed Lawan as the Senate President, Sen. Hope Uzodimma as the Deputy Senate President and Sen. Godswill Akpabio as the Senate Leader. While in the House of Representatives, Hon Gbajabiamila will be announced as the Speaker of the House and Hon Abdulmimin Jibril will be announced as the Deputy Speaker. The decision on who will be the House leader will be resolved by the trio of Bola Tinubu, Adams Oshiomhole and Sen. Gorge Akume.
The arrowheads of this treasonable plot in the National Assembly include Sen. Ovie Omo-Agege, Sen. Abdullahi Adamu, Ali Ndume, George Akume and Kabiru Gaya. While the members of the House who are part of this plot to destroy democracy include Hon Femi Gbajabiamila, Hon. Abdulmumin Jubril and Hon. Agbonayima.
To ensure the plot goes successfully, the Federal Government has mapped out the sum of $70, 000 for each Senator and $40, 000 for each House member for what it called welfare since majority of them will be compelled to be in town suddenly. The money for the bribes has already been released to Senator Lawan and Hon. Gbajabiamila for onward distribution to their members as they return. The money amounting to $15million ($8million for the House and $7 million for the Senate) was sourced from NNPC, CBN, NDDC, NPA, NIMASA, a commercial bank and a company the owner of whom is a member of the cabal.
Nigerians are hereby put on notice that these coupists are plotting that Sen. Saraki, the Senate President, Sen Ike Ekweremmadu the Deputy Senate President, Sen. Ben Bruce and Sen. Dino Melaye, Biodun Olujimi, Hon. Dogara, Kingsley Chinda, Nnena Ukeje among others would be stopped by security agents from gaining entrance into the National Assembly. Thugs have been mobilized from Plateau, Kwara and Kogi to mount protest at the gates of the National assembly and have the approval to attack and disperse any group that comes to hold a counter rally.”

Politics › Lagos Now Officially Oil Producing State by slydey(op): 6:56pm On May 16, 2016 |
Lagos now officially an oil producing state – The Lagos State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, on Monday declared that Lagos has officially joined the League of Oil Producing States in Nigeria following the discovery of crude oil by Tunde Folawiyo Petroleum Company Limited in Badagry, Lagos. Governor Ambode, who made the declaration when the management of the company led by the Group Managing Director, Tunde Folawiyo, paid him a courtesy visit at the Lagos House, Ikeja, commended the firm for their doggedness to achieve the feat after 25 years of hard work, saying by the provision of Section 162 Sub-Section 2 of the Nigeria Constitution, Lagos has become an oil producing State. “I want to thank you very much for this and I say it with all conviction,” Mr. Ambode said. “Because I know that based on section 162 Sub-Section 2 of the Nigeria Constitution, Lagos becomes an oil producing state and by virtue of this, the 13 percent derivation that is due to oil producing states, Lagos will start to partake from it by your very good gesture. “So we officially declare Lagos State an oil producing state, we also notify the Federal Government by this action that we would be sharing out of the 13 percent derivation. So all we need do is to apply and then we join.” Mr. Ambode also said the feat has not only placed Lagos in the history books as the first state outside the Niger Delta to become an oil producing State, but has also opened up a new page for revenue generation in the State. “It also means that by the additional revenue that is coming from this action, we would have more resources to provide infrastructure for Lagosians,” he said. “And this is what we want other investors and businessmen to emulate, so that beyond the issue of profit, you are actually creating impact on people without them necessarily knowing that it is actually coming from a venture like this that you have embarked on.” He said the resilience of Tunde Folawiyo Petroleum Company, an indigenous firm, has shown the possibilities and opportunities for investors and businessmen willing to commit their resources to boost local production. “The Federal Government has always said that we all need to look back inwards and start to do things for ourselves,” said the govenor. “Spending 25 years to be able to get to this stage and get something productive shows a lot about your belief, tenacity and doggedness and I want to recommend you to every other Nigerian investor that there is still greater hope for Nigeria and with the likes of you. http://www.premiumtimesng.com/news/top-news/203490-lagos-now-officially-oil-producing-state-governor-ambode.html

FlirtyKaren: There was pandemonium on Saturday and Sunday near the Trailer Park at Ebubu in Eleme Local Government Area of Rivers when scores of youth, women and children descended on a burrow pit; dug out and took home several tonnes of chicken condemned and buried by men of the Nigerian Customs.
The scavengers came with shovels, pans, basins and buckets to cart their loot home.
The Customs had on Friday dug out a canal there and buried thousands of cartons of frozen poultry they seized at the Onne Ports. Witnesses said the chicken were brought in six containers, emptied and buried before the customs party left.
But news soon spread abroad about the development and very early on Saturday, the human carrions came calling. With no security at the site, they dug and dug and opened up the pit.
A visit to many homes around the area on Sunday revealed serious barbecuing going on as people roasted and dried the chicken they exhumed from the burial site.
In one home according to reports, a full length refrigerator was stocked full of roast chicken, while the hosts invited guests to a sumptuous pick.
But the development has sent an alarm across Eleme and neighbouring communities about the danger of eating the condemned chicken. The Archbishop of the popular Commonwealth Covenant Church, the Most Rev. Moses Kattey, had to put out a message to the people on Sunday warning people off eating chicken for two weeks.
“A very mighty hole was dug and trailers of carton of chicken were buried by govt for health reasons. People have gone there with shovels to exhume the meat to sell. Warn your people please not to buy frozen or fried chicken next 2 weeks. They are poisonous. This happened here in Eleme but can be sold anywhere,” the archbishop said.
Mr. Friday Lewa Goya, a local resident said:
“We saw scores of people in Eleme/Onne axis (just before trailer Park) carrying raffia bags full of exhumed ‘frozen’ chickens and turkey. The Nigerian Customs buried them yesterday after seizing them from the importers.
“Please if you live in Rivers state, especially in Onne area cascade this post. you might also want to stay off frozen poultry for a while.” A few other residents however said there was no health hazard with the poultry. Mr. Lasbrey Iriaka said the poultry was confiscated not because it had expired or because it posed health hazard.
“It was seized from importers because it is contraband. The customs men even diverted one container themselves. So who is fooling who?” queried Iriaka.

warrior01: by Harold Adebola Smith
Pre-historically, the world has seen kingdoms come and go. Indeed, one of the numerous philosophers that history has known is said to have prophesied that, “no kingdom lasts forever.” Perhaps, that saying, if correct, might be coming true for a novo-prince Nigerian politician in the southwestern climes.
This “prince’s” story sounds like a typical Indian movie-yarn which was a popular fare at a town in Lagos known as “Pen Cinema” where this same self “impostor” has allegedly converted to a personal estate, demolished and built up condos, shopping malls and banking halls et cetera today. He wants to be known as “Leader of the Yoruba” race after the venerated Obafemi Awolowo but the tides are turning.
Perhaps, Alhaji (Ja-gaba-n-somewhere in the north, Chief, ‘Asiwaju’) Bola Ahmed Tinubu might spare a few moments of his “very boogey time” to reminisce upon the historical antecedents of one of the world’s numerous political dynasties, which boomeranged. It is about an Indian of humble beginnings who failed to heed the creed that, whose palm kernel-nuts were cracked for them by benevolent spirits, must not forget to be humble!
It is about the Shaishunaga dynasty. Shaishunaga, or Susunaga, the founder (ofobscure origin) may have initially served as a mere orphan. Gradually he came to be associated with the early Magadhan capital ruler and re-established an important city of in the northern Indian province of Bihar. However, during his “reign” he failed to be humble and eventually got “brutally murdered” politically because of his greed.
That sounds like ‘Asiwaju’ Tinubu’s story, but let us look at another scenario … of the Yoruba group of the Nigerian people who ‘Asiwaju’ Tinubu, in mere wishful thinking, considers himself as “leader.” Perhaps, this is not only because they number possibly 20 per cent of the national population, but also because the Encyclopedia Britannica as lists them scattered in “significant groups” in countries as far-flung as Cuba (North America/Caribbean), Brazil (South America), Benin Republic, and Togo (West Africa).
That encyclopedic entry says something profound about Yoruba women (a.k.a. persons cultivated by others to be “domesticated”): Yoruba “women [or “acquired” numbers] do little farm work but control much of the complex market system – their status depends more on their own position in the marketplace than on their husbands’ status.” It is simple to understand: the “cultivated” among certain classes of people (employees, political associates, or even protégées) must not always be taken for granted.
Herein lies the miscalculation – no I did not write “folly” – of ‘Asiwaju’ Tinubu’s serendipity. He forgot to be humble and now he has to force himself to eat the proverbial humble pie!
Has anybody noticed that, Tinubu, since badgering the national polity about being the cosmos that brought about the emergence of the ruling All Peoples Congress (APC) and so must dictate all trends therein, has suddenly gone silent since President Muhammadu Buhari obviously clipped Tinubu’s wings? Case in point is the much awaited #TheList.
One is intrigued that, a whopping 83 senators, dominated by no less than 59 APC of whom Tinubu claims to be “national leader,” have passed a vote of confidence on their President, Bukola Saraki – a name that Tinubu never wants to hear as Senate President. Mind you, there are only 108 senators currently, given that one died before inauguration.
Take a mini-census: literally all the people Tinubu put up for “safe-zone” posturing (positioning for personal Tinubu power) in the National Assembly have been chalked out politically and legally including Ahmed Lawan, George Akume and lately Kabir Marafa … keep counting.
Oh, it was to be Lawan for the Senate presidency or nothing – certainly – not any Bukola Saraki according to the Nostradamus alias ‘Asiwaju Jagaban’. But, that was not going to be, perhaps, because a more pragmatic and brilliant politician in Saraki, says so. Surely, the “Jagaba-n-Bida” does not seem to have noticed. In the Hausa language predominant in northern Nigeria, the word “jagaba” translates lead but the attached “n” represents the word “of” in the English language. So the Jagaba-n (which most people misconstrue as mythical) is just like saying, for instance, the “Jester-of-Borokiri.”
But, back to germane national matters, against all avowals as to who Tinubu liked, wanted in, favoured or cared most about, virtually all have been shorn of respectability by Buhari and the APC. Note that, never did Tinubu ever wish that any word sounding like “Fashola,” “Fayemi,” et cetera could appear on anything tagged “ministerial list.” Now, all those and more “non-Tinubu” words are prominent there on. Or, did any person expect that both President Buhari and the APC (the party of which Tinubu’s domineering influence is anything now fast diminishing) could so ignominiously ignore the self-aspiring leader of the Yoruba?
Indeed, even in Tinubu’s South-West political zone where claims to be king, it is no longer anything as politically rosy as he sees his spurious dynasty. Instead, most of people he claims to be his foot soldiers politically are beginning to read the graffiti and getting used to aligning with the realities of the times: the the man is suffering, perhaps, from an aggrandizement of self far larger than the political image he paints of himself. It is not only the manner in which both former President Olusegun Obasanjo and sitting Ogun State Gov. Ibikunle Amosun shot down Tinubu’s plans for the Federal Cabinet, but also in the manner in which Obasanjo (especially) dashed Tinubu’s hopes to thwart Saraki’s Senate presidency. Perhaps, Gbajabiamila is learning the bitter lessons of blind followership.
Meanwhile, one is tempted to encourage the very erudite propagandist Alhaji Lai Mohammed to similarly see the light and stop bickering over his misfortune of becoming governor of Kwara State instead of Bukola Saraki (many years ago) in different political party tags at the time, and now concentrate on being confirmed minister of nigeria. Blind followership is simply over: anybody who is honest with him/herself can see that Ahmed Bola Tinubu’s political ascendancy has gone the way of all earthly kingdoms. Exile beckons, perhaps

For instance if you load 500 naira glo or mtn card, you must be able to use it within a certain period of time after which it would expire and become invalid. Although you would retain your credit but you won't be able to make call with it. As time goes on, this regulation was abolished. Now we want NCC to also abolish and annul the one month or days validity period imposed on Nigerians by service providers. Why should you force someone to finish what he or she had bought with his own money within a certain period of time?. They say we must finish it or it roll over. What nonsense! This totally violates human right! If you buy 1000,2000, or even 100 naira data, the data should last long until you finish it .
