Well for me i fink am kinda unique in ma own world oo i fink have mastered the ART of colour combinations and creating simple and elegant webby, ability to carve a design without piping! lol if you know what i meant.

it all boils down to kinda work, in my own case i went for an interview in advertising agency hoping to work in a creative department. so i was wearing a suit and everyone was kinda laughing because creative house is a MAD house just like u see [b]DERENLE [/b]on that mad wears, infact my suit that they was to give them good impression but at the end of the day, i was pick sha but the point still remains that i don't wear suit oo i go to work on my sneakers, jeans, t-shirt, my laptop. looking like a rap artist but am an artist anyway i create mad designs, everyone in my creative department dress the way they like e.g baggie jeans with sneakers, muffler on blah blah, so creative people are always mad people. ppl who wear suit in my office are the client service guys and the MD lol.

In nutshell boils down to the kinda job and i feel comfortable on it, if am going for a PP job, i don't try to pretend oo i go with my sneakers and all that

Thats the real definition over there in the US but here in naija, you can't find such thing, now when i say art directing, can be web, prin design, press design all kinda design. you need to be in charge and direct everyfin. But here in Nigeria, you will see the art director doing the job of a graphic artist, all combined. Well for me anyway i do but graphics and web and wotever design you might fink of. what makes me unique well its up to the clients or friends to tell you what makes you kinda different.

You guys don't DV8 from the question above, when you ask me what do i do, i simply tell you am an ART - DIRECTOR. what do they do ? google that yourself lol

(USP) Well if you put it that way every brand everywhere has a USP just like Biggs and Tasty Fried Chicken they both have USP oooo so just asking now what is your own kinda USP

Everyone design website, everyone claims he/she is a designer. i wanna know what make you diffrent from others,u is it the way you design, your choice of colours, programming or what ? what really makes you unique as a designer.

Techpro, no shortcut at all just do whatever makes you happy, just have it that CSS Rocks

i don't want to say much other than, i use CSS if am designing some certain website and i just feel comfortable using my own kinda style ain't talking about Table or whatever,  whatever i wanna use any given time, i make sure i optimized the hell outta the website, so you don't have problem navigating, loading and stuff like that. This website i did along time ago is an example of what am talking about http://www.smsnaija.com/ now how much more clients asking you, i want a WOW website in other words make my website smoky and all that.

Now its left for the designer to know what and what to do to make the website very fast when loaded on the internet. maybe you are to use PS or FW to make the design, slice it, put CSS and FLASH, JQUERY and all that where necessary and making this load fast. check http://www.soundcity.com/smva/ pretty slow for me

Guys what's up? am not a coding guy anymore since 3years when i got frustrated about the whole thing called PROGRAMMING. am just a colour mixer fella if you know what i mean. but i like what peeps are doing with FACEBOOK application.

The people that designed the templates are people just like us. Some people are more creative than others.

It is not every time you will have great concept to design. Probably you may have to look at other websites for inspiration. Just like some writers get writer's block. Similar.

You may be familiar with CSS Galleries. Collections of nice website design. If you go through one of the sites like. look at http://www.csselite.com/

If you can tell me you can come up with all those design ideas by yourself without looking at sample works. Good for you. This is just my opinion.

This is not a matter of being good or bad. The truth is, regardless of what we do, there will always be people better than each of us. There will be always be people more creative than each of us. That is life.

Now you talking,  you know Nigeria is always meticulous about all this stuff if you are to resume as a website designer, they will ask you can you design a website and you say yes, can you use FIREWORKS, PHOTOSHOP, they will put you up on system and you should do something,  i remember some years back guys that handle MTN website  i was in search of jobs and they called me and they put up on system to do something i started cooking up my design and i was staring at some ladies doing website who work there lol but at the end of the day my pay home was really much for a big company like that. my job is just interface Designer,  before that i showed them my web portfolio and they saw some jobs that they might have handle themselves before. overheard this guy pay will be high let just ask him how much he would like to EARN. in nutshell what am trying to say is that if you are to go for an interview, they won't ask you can u copy and paste a template, rather they will ask you can you design a website.

If you are the person they use TEMPLATE all the time, all your years is TEMPLATE then am afraid, the job won't be in your favor.
