Nuendo: Am headed for Calgary too. Meds done and TRV expected too. I and Smile13 (see his profile) are already trying to make accommodation arrangements off campus, heard its far cheaper and still not far from the school at all. When did you do your medicals, and was it paper or online route?? Have u paid your fees? We U of C dudes could team up and make things cheaper for ourselves. May save us a lot of money.

GboyegaD: I just got one on Wednesday quite close to school. It is about 2.4km from school. It is a 6Bedroom House and I chose the basement since its got only 2 rooms there with a Kitchen and Bathroom.

Thanks. I applied online and I didn't submit my passport; I only scanned the necessary pages. They however require it now after the medicals.

Aduke02: They only accept fresh applications at cdhc once a week. It has nothing to do with u. Just take a copy of d letter sent to you with ur passport to the embassy. U'd be given a form to fill n asked to wait. Once ur passport has been stamped, u'll be asked to come inside to pick it up.

@Aduke02: Going by your last post, seems that you took your passport to the CDHC on a Tuesday, seeing something on their (CDHC, Lagos) website now that they only collect passports on Wednesdays, pls kindly clarify. Thanks.

Thanks bros. I applied for the school housing but I have not committed. I have eyes in staying off-campus because the rates I was seeing were far less than what the school got. How far with your own accommodation?

BROS, if u can not renew ur passport, submit like that. With 11 months on ur passport, CDHC will issue u 11 months multiple entry visa, wen u get 2 canny u can renew ur passport b4 it expires & then apply to extend ur stay.

The limit for passport renewal is 6 months to expiry. My contacts at immigrations advised that to renew at 11 months, it will have to be done at the immigrations office in Abuja. [/color]

@GboyegaD, 2-chains, Aduke02 and all, pls I just got a mail from CIC requesting for the original of my passport. One of the instructions is that my passport must be valid for the expected length of stay in Canada which in this case is a minimum of 24 months for my program. The issue is I have just about 11 months left on my passport. Pls what do I do? Many thanks for your anticipated response.

Nuendo: How far i sent you a reply via mail. we need to coordinate our actions as per Uni of Calgary. I wanna email my ADMISSIONS officer to ask whether its in their policy not to accept fees before TRV.

Yes I've done the medicals but 'll wait for them to instruct me further..

Nuendo: People of God, this seems to be a very interesting topic, about three people who I have met here doing the medical were all called for medics without been asked to pay the tuition . One particularly told me that she had already paid the tuition some weeks even before been called for the medical.

@smile13 : I guess you have done your medical already, are you going to pay or wait for the embassy to instruct u on that......

Besides, thanks to those who have offered their opinion on this issue. We are all here to learn.

I still wanna ask the able veterans in the house, I think the question should be better rephrased as ; whether those who paid tuition and board without being instructed to so after medical still went ahead and were issued the trv. The percentage of success or delayys or even failure would help us making a decision.

@GboyegaD ; thanks for your invaluable insight. U guys re really putting in alot into making sure that we are all sucessfull. God bled u. As for the over working myself, please don't blame me, some of us have come a long way to get to this point. To some its been a cummulative of hardwork of 4 yrs to arrive here. So pardon our tension. Wen we reach like una, we go dey on permanent chill pill and be in a calm state of mind to calm do who wud be applying den.

@Nuendo: I think oga Gboyega has said it all. I will wait for further instructions from them..

GboyegaD: You are getting too hard on yourself. Why not go ahead with the medical and return the passport to them. If you are so concerned, you can go ahead to pay your tuition and board. Sincerely, this is the least of your challenges/processes on your dream to becoming a Canadian as such, I will advise you learn to relax and take things as they come so that you don't break down. Remember, it isn't a straight jacket process therefore, what applies to applicant A may not to other applicants.

I also got the med instructions only. Dunno if this is peculiar to U Calgary applicants as I'm also headed to U Calgary..

Nuendo: i HAVE PICKED UP THE ENVELOPE, THE TUITION INSTRUCTION DIDN'T COME WITH IT. I GUESS THERE MIGHT BE A REASON. I HEARD SOME SCHOOLS REFUSE TUITION UNTIL TRV IS ISSUED. DUNNO ABOUT MINE SHAA...I AM HEADED FOR UNI OF CALGARY.

Aduke02: Many congratulations!!! I got only the medical instructions myself. Since they didn't ask for any other thing, don't bother urself. If and when they need additional documents, they'll ask for them. Congrats again n where r u headed to?

If you submit the required documents early enough,you are likely to get ur TRV by mid-august.

I am indeed grateful to you all for the enormous advice and experience this forum has offered me. I didn't experience that but I can say it's most likely your internet connection speed is either too low or you are uploading more than the required size permitted which is 4MB for all documents to be uploaded. Check these two things. Cheers.
