agylistic77: I hope they aren't telling S. A citizen they are d one developing their country. Because xenophobic thing is affecting mostly Nigerians. You took this out of my mouth. Maybe they were boasting and chestbeating there, forgetting it's not southwest where they often are condoned. According to the Yoruba proverb, "when a man's yam has sprouted, he should cover it with his hands". |

The balkanization of The Polytechnic, Ibadan, into South, Middle-belt and North has done more harm to the harmony of the students than good. The issue might not be unconnected with 'region supremacy' battle and the Southerners might be the front burner.

Shalomc: This Saharareporters should go and write about APC States
In fact it should give us details of what transpired in Rivers State gubernatorial election.... Where the AAC candidate who pasted no poster, no rally, no campaign, no visibility is claiming to have flawlessly won the incumbent governor.
I believe sowore has been in cahoots with the APC hence his refusal to publish the truth is not surprising PDP is a bad party! PDP is a bad party! PDP is a bad party! APC, your nemesis! APC, your nightmare! APC, you tormentor! |

BabaIbo: 2023 will clear some people's doubt... That's when some certain people in the south will learn/know why unity is important What happened to the unity of 2011 when Jonathan won all the southern states? Even Action Congress of Nigeria had to abandon their own candidate -- Ribadu -- for Jonathan. I think the question we should be asking ourselves is, "What went wrong?". Trust me, the president is coming from south come 2023, and APC know know how to find their way. They would present a candidate that both the south and north are convinient with. |

Agriculture › Re: See Contribution Of Agricultural Sector To Nigeria's GDP From 2008-2017 by smithsammy(m): 4:23pm On Mar 25, 2019 |
grandstar: What does it mean if the size of the agricultural sector in terms of GDP is increasing?
It means your economy isn't doing well.
Even if your agricultural sector grows by 10%, other sectors are supposed to grow faster i.e 12% for instance.
That's why you find that the richer and more advanced countries are, the smaller the size of the agriculture sector. It is rare to find rich country with an agricultural sector contributing up to 4% of GDP.
Thailand which is an upper middle income country and which exports more food than all Africa combined has an agricultural sector that's only 10% of GDP.
Malaysia which is also an upper middle country with an agricultural sector which Nigeria wishes to emulate has a size that is less than 10% of GDP.
The country economic growth from 2015 has been nothing to write home about and that exposes the problem. You made a salient point. We still, however, need to charge the government to do better than they are already doing. All sectors have not been perfoming to their best. |
Agriculture › Re: See Contribution Of Agricultural Sector To Nigeria's GDP From 2008-2017 by smithsammy(m): 2:36pm On Mar 25, 2019 |
frowland: We are actually doing well, going by the infograph. You have to pick up your calculator and find out what 30% of 2008 GDP was... Then calculate 20% of current GDP, you will then realise that the information above is slightly misleading. Thanks. The information is not misleading. While I agree that the value of the 20% of a GDP in 2017 might be higher than 30% of a GDP in 2009, the aspect from which I want us to look at the infrograph is the 'proportion' of agriculture contribution to our GDP. The questions we need to answer are: 1) Why the fall in propostion? 2) Is it normal that agrriculture is crawling why other sectors are moving forward? 3) Is it not naturally normal that our agricultural sector increase in operation and harvest as our population increases? |
