oluwashedy: This shall never be my portion for me and my siblings.... One of the many reasons why I thank God for not granting me admission few years back because it enabled me to work hard to become self sufficient and independent from my folks and having to save for the future even though I rely on them to pay just my fees. If no be God, I would have been a church rat in skul
2el: The Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology, Minna, Prof. Musbau Akanji, on Thursday disclosed that 700 students of the institution were expelled during the last academic session for various offenses.
The institution has also matriculated 5,141 students for the 2016/2017 academic session. Speaking to journalists after the 30th matriculation ceremony of the university, Akanji said majority of the students were expelled due to low academic performance.
He added that the students scored below 1.5 pass mark.
The vice chancellor said, “At the end of the 2015/2016 academic session, the university expelled about 700 students for various offenses, majority of them are due to low academic performance. We have cancelled pass degree and this had raised the bar. Most of those expelled could not score above 1.5.”
Ankaji said the university has put in measures to reduce the high rate of failures recorded last year, adding that tutorial teachers from the postgraduate school would be engaged to give the students tutorials.

During the christmass shopping i wanted to buy one of this big juices in groundnutoil like bottles those ones you have to mix with water that was when i found out that the one i was used too had been banned that it is only the ones manufactured in nigeria that is available.. I Understand that Fg wants to boost the local manufacturing industry thats a good thing but does it mean they should eliminate the foreign competition from the market entirely? Wouldnt that be just subjecting nigerians too lower quality products.. My reasoning is if Fg just simply put high tarrifs, make these imported products more expensive demand will obviously reduce nd consumers will be redirected to the cheaper locally manufactured ones...but a little fraction of people will still prefer to buy foreign ones nd really they should have the right to choose nd the truth is if our local products reach a level of quality remotly close to the one of the foreign products that little fraction will be persuaded to start buying local products nd subquently other countries will consider importing our own products.. Why must these foreign products be banned before our industries start producing i did not even know there was anything like abakiliki rice before..This is just my opinion i might be wrong but i think its a discussion worth having
ajbf: Following the Federal Government ban of imported fruit juice into the country, the National Agencyfor Food and Drug Administration, NAFDAC, has begun mop-up of all imported fruit juices nationwide.
Addressing journalists shortly after the raid which took place in various markets in Lagos by the enforcement team of NAFDAC, Deputy Director, Investigation & Enforcement Directorate, Mr. Francis Ononiwu decried the influx of imported fruit juices in the country, blaming it on the absence of the Agency’s staff at the ports.
According to him, the Federal Government as a matter of urgency should reconsider bringing NAFDAC back to the ports in order to drastically reduce fake, counterfeit and imported banned products into the country.
“We are all aware that most of these products come through the sea ports and NAFDAC is not on ground there, definitely, we cannot effectively stop the products from entering. That is a major challenge. If we are there the quantity will be much more reduced or eliminated. Federal government should reconsider taking NAFDAC back to the ports”
Ononiwu explained that the mop –up exercise is ongoing nationwide, not only to meet the deadline for the exercise but also to create an enabling environment for local manufacturers of fruit juices in the country.
“These imported products are not registered by NAFDAC; they are unwholesome and fake and have been banned by the Federal Government. We don’t expect to see imported fruit juices in our markets today because we have enough fruit juice manufactured and produced here.
RAID: NAFDAC officials mopping up imported fruit juice from De Prince Supermarket, Agbada area of Lagos last week. We are also trying to protect our local industry as well as encouraged them to utilise our farm produces thereby boosting our economy.”
Warning consumers against such products, he said since they were not produced under supervised Good Manufacturing Practice, they are harmful to the health of consumers.
Ononiwu hinted that those arrested would be punished in line with the appropriate sanctions stipulated in the Agency’s regulations.
Speaking during the exercise at Gbagada area of Lagos, Team Leader also from the Investigation and Enforcement Directorate, Mr. Carolly Ngobiri, said the exercise was in line with a circular of Dec. 19 from the Directorate, directing that an urgent visit to all markets and supermarkets in all states, be embarked upon, to mop-up these items.
“We are here to carry out one of NAFDAC’s mandate; to make sure that that all foreign juices are removed from the market. We have given them a deadline from now to Dec. 31 to stop their sales and remove them from the shelves.
“But in order to ensure that these are totally removed, we have started mopping up all the juices all over the country. “By Dec. 31, we do not want to see any imported juice in Nigeria.
“At these places that we have gone to carry out our assignment, we have taken the items, documented them and invited the owners to come to our office for further interrogation.
is it not better if they put tarrifs on this imported products instead of banning it entirely.. Why should i be forced to take locally fruit juices or abakiliki rice if u want to boost the local industry put high tarrifs on the imported goods that alone will discourage the consumers nd sellers from purchasing it but it will still be available for the little fraction of people that no matter the price of the imported they will still buy it.. We are meant to have that choice
AnnaKareninaFan: He is a former minister, and a former chairman of the Board of Trustees of People’s Democratic Party(PDP). Chief Anthony Anenih has been instrumental to the making of Nigerian presidents, and governors. Recently, he launched his memoir titled My Life and Nigerian Politics in Abuja. In the memoir, the elder statesman also known as ‘Mr. Fix It’ revealed his success story. In Chapter 1 of the memoir titled ‘Far From The Madding Crowd’, the 84-year-old Esan chief revealed that, ” I grew up in Uzenema and only left the village after spending two years in the Government Primary School at Uromi.
“At this time, I had to leave the village to stay with one teacher, Mr. Ojeikhodion from Sabongidda-Ora in Owan East Local Government Area of Edo State who was teaching at the Government School. I lived with him and served him as his houseboy while he paid my school fees because my parents could not afford my school fees. At the Uromi Government School, particularly after I moved from Arue to Uromi to stay with Mr. Ojeikhodion, I began to miss the motherly care and tender treatment of my parents in Arue but I wanted to be educated.
“Staying behind in Arue with my parents meant going with them to the farm. I might have been a farmer today. For me, it was a blessing to Nigeria, both of which have benefitted through my service to the nation, primarily as an educated person. A village farmer in this community would certainly not have been where I am today and would possibly not have made the same impact.”
Anenih was instrumental to the making of about four presidents: NPN’s Shehu Shagari; SDP’s MKO Abiola; PDP’s Olusegun Obasanjo; and governors of old Bendel, and Edo States: NPN’s Samuel Ogbemudia; PDP’s Lucky Igbinedion. On his legacy, Anenih says, “I can rightly, therefore, claim that in Nigerian politics, I have largely been a kingmaker, not the king, my leadership roles in the various political parties notwithstanding. I have been an organizer, an energizer, a mobiliser, a motivator, a schemer, a strategist, a planner and, quite often, a provider."

ELPablochapo: Let us be careful of what we post online especially this festive season. Our Muslim brethren is not just happy with us Christians .Anything that will make us christians weep is welcomed in their religion. I know many will not like this but its just the truth and I stand with Trump on returning fire for fire.
Germany attack comes to mind.
what u said its quite disrespectful nd untrue.. How can u say that "anything that makes christians weep is welcomed in their religion" its very unfortunate that will now live in a world of radical jihadists but these terrorits dont acknowledge the actual values of the islam doctrine at all.. The same way there are some corrupt pastors nd priests who deviate from the values of christianity nd take advantage of some desperate congregations..And again nigeria is not america oo muslims here are not immigrants i think they are more muslims than christians in this country self(not sure) so its probably better for you to tolerate muslims better
