1. How are we sure the girl is a maid and not their child?

2. Even if she's a maid or their child do we know if she was naughty and this was a way of instilling some discipline?

This is a restaurant treat and not the normal house cooked food, keeping her to watch due to some serious misdemeanour teaches discipline much better than corporal punishment...

The new and only Pedestrian Bridge in Benin-city, the Edo state capital, is now open for public use.

The Pedestrian Bridge is situated across a federal highway – the Benin-Lagos expressway – in front of the main gate of the University of Benin (UNIBEN).

The Pedestrian Bridge was constructed by the Godwin Obaseki-led Edo state government.

Before now, no pedestrian bridge existed in the Benin-city. Though, this new pedestrian bridge is not the first to be constructed in the state capital.

The first Pedestrian Bridge was constructed in the early ‘90s. It was constructed about 500 meters away from where this new one is located. It was built in front of the University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH).

The UBTH Pedestrian bridge – the first to be built in Edo state – suffered severe lack of usage. Ostensibly, this led to its eventual dismantling and disappearance from that location. That Pedestrian Bridge was constructed by Lucky Igbinedion, during his stint as the Chairman of Oredo Local Government council.

It could be recalled that several students of the University of Benin (UNIBEN) have lost their lives while attempting to cross the ever-busy Benin-Lagos expressway to the institution’s campus. The most recent being the one involving a certain Late Rita Awele.

All these informed the decision by the Edo state government to construct a pedestrian bridge in front of the UNIBEN main gate.

Laudable project but your information is incorrect... there used to be a bridge right at this same spot not close to UBTH... The previous bridge had to be dismantled after it was hit by a trailer...

But still, I doubt is the hospital actually tried "their best." Their best always comes only when they see money. Lagos hospitals don't send anybody.

It is clearly stated that they tried their best in the report but here you are sitting down somewhere with no clue or additional information about what happened and making false accusations...

Why the hullabaloo over getting a grade that was deserved? I totally empathise with his situation but what he came out of school with was his deserved grade... Moaning about how others cheated and got higher grades that they did not deserve (which is a crime) shows a lack of integrity...

PHD is a specialised academic degree and those elite schools in the us and Europe will hardly take someone without a 2.1... Even in Nigeria you have to do very well in masters before they accept you.. They don't even give masters admission to those with 3rd class in Nigeria...

You are right. What he did was wrong no doubt. I wasn't supporting him when I said "sorry" to him. But I have seen really rude, mannerless and non-chalant attendants in the hospital. I put myself in his shoes and imagined waiting to be attended to & I'm sidestepped only because I didn't grease the palm of the attendants. It will be worse if I'm in pains Such things should be unheard of in a hospital.

That's what we see everyday here, I now go to places with fixed prices for everyone so as not to be cheated... Mechanics, cobblers, tailors, the market woman all trying to cheat you once they know you are a doctor...

Next time, disguise in casual wear and go to an unfamiliar place

But did you read his story carefully and try to put yourself in his shoe? I did, that's why I related. You yourself may never know how you will react if you were the one. The sorry I told him was cos of the way he was probably feeling before the assault.

Sorry but I think you have lost the point, there is no explaining assault and battery away regardless of what may have happened... Its almost like domestic violence, it should be condemned in the strongest way possible. The reason we are human is because we have executive functions, we can reason before actions and not just react to issues with violence... There is no one who has not been provoked to anger but the issue is taking it to the violence stage is extreme and wrong... A lot of people have been in worse situations and didn't react with violence...

The bad experience I had was that a staff who was supposed to collect my card and locate my file refused to do that, he was just sitting there not doing anything, I was talking to him and he completely ignored me while 2 other people gave him their cards he collected and me that I even came before them he refused to collect my own card then I got so angry, I did not know when i started punching him in the face, I even took a chair and tried to bash his head with it but people came and stoped me from doing so. Then one of the staff's apologised and ushered me to go and see the doctor immediately even though my file was not located by that bastard.
When I left the hospital, I tore my card and threw it away, I swore to myself that I'm not going back to that hospital.

You should be ashamed of your actions and not bragging on social media about it... In a sane country you would be in jail for assault and battery + attempted murder if care is not taken... The appropriate action would have been to report the staff to a superior authority if you felt the quality of service was suboptimum...

You are telling someone that assaulted a health worker sorry after listening to only his side of the story... Bad perception about the health care system or not, what is wrong is wrong...

Because I really don't understand what you mean by "majority" in the third paragraph. Truth be told, I have a negative perception towards the medical profession. And it's not just because of my experiences.

I'm happy that at least you are honest enough to acknowledge the fact that you have a bad perception of the medical profession....

By "majority" I am responding to your original post where you claimed to have met several doctors for consultation and only one was humane...

Is it possible that your negative orientation could be clouding your perceptive lens?

Is it also possible that this could affect the way and manner in which you ask questions? When questions are asked nicely its unlikely that the doctor in question will answer in a rude manner.. Yes clients should be treated in a dignified manner as persons but we should also know that the healthcare provider is a person also who should also be treated with respect and dignity... A great proportion of medical doctors and other healthcare workers have received verbal and physical abuse from their clients...

Servicom works in most tertiary hospitals so if you feel that you have been treated poorly then lodge a report with them... It will definitely be investigated..

PS: for that "humane" doctor that attended to the op I say kudos keep it up and don't consider the constant bashing you see online...

Back to the topic, I believe every client should be treated with dignity, compassion and respect however the busy schedule, inadequate manpower, poor remuneration, poor conditions of service amongst other systemic issues also contribute to the problem and makes it difficult occasionally.

This does not totally excuse bad behaviour but helps to understand it. Imagine the OP having experienced the care given by a humane doctor with loads of empathy and the care issued by the "majority" by her estimation (which in my opinion is wrong) instead of putting up a post praising him for giving quality care she put up a post bashing all the doctors in the whole country. This just shows the negative perception of the op towards the medical professional...

Truth be told, the medical profession is an area where some slight semblance of competence still remains in Nigeria...

Dear OP, in your source FFK did not insult Kanu but you seemed to have contrived to do so... to what end is what is yet to be determined... facts should always be sacred.. To the mods pls do your work well
