During account signup on Facebook, date of birth is one of the information required on the online form been filled.

Reason being that Facebook thinks it doesn’t matter to people if their dates of birth are shown to the world on their profiles.

Little does Facebook know that for different personal reasons, most people prefer to keep their ages , date of birth and other private information secret.

It is sometimes inappropriate for such personal details to be displayed to the world without verifying from the owner of the details.

On the other hand, several Facebook account owners in most cases do not even know that such details are been viewed by their profile visitors.

An incident happened a couple of years back when a friend complained that she receive strange calls. But after investigations, she realized they got her number from her Facebook profile.

Of course, up till now most Facebook profiles still have profile owner’s phone numbers displayed. What I can’t phantom is whether the said owners of the accounts are aware but intentionally allow them there.

In any case, it is understandable for Facebook pages belonging to businesses or organisations as such phone numbers are meant to connect clients with the business owners.

As for me, I wouldn’t want my personal details like phone number , email or even date of birth to be published on my profile to the full view of all visitors. I could choose only my friends or family to view them.

Hello nairalanders, I just wish I'll get a shoulder or two to cry on tonight. Things are becoming unbearable for me and I don't know how far I can walk on these shoes. Here's my story...


I am 28 and married to a 35yr old youngman whom I love so dearly. We are blessed with 2 kids and most material things one can pray for. My marriage is 5yrs with just minor issues that do come up once in a VERY LONG while.

The problem is that my hubby does not show me affection and hardly approaches me for sex. I am a very neat, beautiful, Godfearing, educated and classy lady. Most times I am the one who initiates intimacy in our marriage. My heart breaks each time I read or hear of women who deny their husbands sex because its an opposite in my case. I think the presupposition that jail terms are deterrents is very flawed. These people should use sociological and psychological methods to investigate the causes of these things and advice the public accordingly. If we bank on punishment as our only recourse then we will simply keep jailing more people instead of having less criminals which is the goal of all society.

Referee Pulled handgun at player
A Brazilian soccer referee is facing disciplinary action for pulling a gun on the field during a red card dispute. Gabriel Murta was officiating an amateur game between Brumadinho and Amantes da Bola when tempers flared on the field following a red card. The referee was reportedly kicked and punched by a player from Amantes da Bola, which led to him brandishing the weapon.

Murta is a police officer by profession according to The Guardian, which explains why he owns a handgun, but not why he had it on the field. A representative from the referee’s association in Brazil stated that Muta felt threatened, but an inquiry is underway.

Amateur soccer in Brazil is no stranger to violence. In 2013 a referee was killed and beheaded by fans as retaliation after an altercation with a player led to the referee stabbing the player to death.

A Brazilian court has frozen assets of the Barcelona star Neymar, his family and related businesses valued at 188.8m Brazilian reals (£31.3m).

The São Paulo federal court said on Friday that the 23-year-old is alleged to have evaded 63m reals (£10.5m) in Brazil taxes between 2011 and 2013. He moved in 2013 from the Brazilian club Santos to Spain’s Barcelona.

Judge Carlos Muta said Neymar declared assets worth only 19.6m reals (£3.2m), adding that “he is solely responsible for the income declaration”. The Associated Press reached Neymar’s agent, who promised to comment later.

Neymar is accused of not paying 63.3m reals (£10.5m) in taxes between 2011 and 2013. The judge froze three times that amount for security reasons and to cover potential interest and fines, according to a judicial order explaining the seizure.

The action covers property and vehicles and is a preventive measure to stop the player selling assets before the case is settled. He will still have access to bank accounts and other liquid assets.

The judge accused the 23-year-old of “omitting sources of income from abroad”. Barcelona Football Club was cited as the source of unreported money.

The frozen assets were in the name of the Brazil player and three companies in which he and his father are the principal owners. Neymar’s total assets were given as 244.2m reals.

Neymar joined the Spanish club in June 2013 after a successful career at Santos but his transfer has been a source of controversy.

Then the Barcelona president, Sandro Rosell, said Neymar cost €57.1m but the deal was shrouded in secrecy.

His successor, Josep Maria Bartomeu, eventually admitted the total cost came to €86.2m once additional payments to the player and his family had been included.

Rosell resigned in January 2014 after a judge decided to investigate and call him to testify in the case. A Brazilian investment firm which bought an interest in Neymar has taken legal action against the player, his father and Barcelona in a bid to secure a bigger slice of the transfer fee.

I am a desperate job seeker haven completed my NYSC early this year.

I saw a job advert and applied for it. All criteria and requirements were met except for the fact that they wanted a first class or second class upper applicant while I graduated with second class lower (though from a reputable university in ghana).

I went ahead and filled in "second class upper" and I got an sms this morning inviting me for an aptitude test.

Like I earlier said, i'm desperate and would love to have this job but don't know if I should still go for the test or not.

It all started sometimes early this year...it just happend and we connected. On my own part....I never knew she was a runs girl. She's jovial and caring.

I actually took her serious until I discovered her true identity and ever since that day....my emotional attachment to her reduced speedily.

Though Mohamed had repeatedly said his device was merely a clock he threw together in 20 minutes Sunday night, it did not stop the device from being confiscated as “evidence,” and from being suspended from MacArthur High School, the Dallas Morning News reported Tuesday.

Mohamed, who had been a middle school tech savant, says he was just trying to impress his new teachers.

“My hobby is to invent stuff,” he told the Dallas Morning News. “Here in high school, none of the teachers know what I can do.”

He added that the incident made him “feel like a criminal” and inhuman.
Mohamed said he first showed the timepiece to an engineering teacher Monday morning who complimented his work but tellingly suggested he not show anyone else. The clock remained in Mohamed’s backpack until its digital alarm went off inadvertently in an English class later that day.

His English teacher took a far more skeptical view, telling Mohamed it looked like a bomb. She kept the clock and later that afternoon, the teenager was in handcuffs as police marched him out of the school to a juvenile detention center.

“Yup. That’s who I thought it was,” one of the officers who greeted Mohamed in the principal’s office reportedly said, according to the Dallas Morning News. Mohamed says he had never seen the officer before.
