7' The game has developed a pattern of Manchester United probing and passing patiently in the opposition half, while CSKA sit back and soak it up, while looking for the openings on the break.

Expect some rotation of position among the attacking unit of Ander Herrera. Wayne Rooney and Anthony Martial, with the latter two especially comfortable with swapping roles.

Lenoid Slutsky makes two changes from his side's 3-2 win over Ural last time out. Alan Dzagoev has returned to the CSKA team and will line up behind lone striker Seydou Doumbia in a 4-4-1-1 formation for the home side. These two sides have only met one time previously, in the group stages of the 2009-10 tourney. There, the Red Devils won 1-0 in Russia, before playing out an entertaining 3-3 game back in England. CSKA have not kept a clean sheet in 18 matches in Europe, but Manchester United also are on the verge of an unwanted UCL record - as defeat here will have them on an unprecedented three-game losing streak away from home.

CSKA are currently in the middle of their longest-ever unbeaten run at home in the Champions League, having won once and drawn twice in their last three outings. That win came courtesy of a 3-2 result over PSV in the previous matchday that helped keep Group B tight. They also currently top the Russian Premier League with 10 wins from their opening 12 games, and are the only side yet to taste defeat in the top flight.

It's been hit and miss for Manchester United either side of the international break. A 3-0 defeat to Arsenal was followed up by a win over Everton by an identical scoreline to keep them within two points of Premier League leaders Manchester City. In Europe, an opening-day loss to PSV was negated somewhat by a triumph over Wolfsburg, with both matches finishing 2-1. Still some kinks to work out for Louis van Gaal's side.

66' The Gunners have worked incredibly hard this evening. Can they maintain it for the last quarter of this match? Xabi Alonso is becoming a bit frustrated with a lack of movement in front of him. Changes appear to be afoot for the visitors with Rafinha warming up.

60' Bayern's high pressing is reminiscent of Pep Guardiola's Barcelona. On this occasion Sanchez gives the ball away to Lewandowski whose shot is smartly blocked by Koscielny. It then falls into the path of Alonso who tries his luck from distance but it is never troubling Cech.

58' Alonso rather cynically brings down Cazorla in the middle of the park and is rather fortunate to escape without a booking. Ozil and Monreal get Arsenal moving forwards and the move ends with Coquelin slashing the ball wide from about twenty-five yards. Better from the Gunners.
