56' This doesn't look good for Ramsey as he
goes down clutching his hamstring and
immediately signals to the bench that he can't
continue. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain will replace
the Welshman. |
55' SAVE! Costa tries to pick out the run of
Thiago but it is cut out by Mertesacker. The
ball does however find its way to
Lewandowski who smashes it goalwards but
Cech is well placed to tip it over. Alonso takes
the resulting corner short and it comes to
nothing for Munich. |
53' Aaron Ramsey looks to relieve some of the
pressure by carrying the fight to the
opposition from deep. His pass finds Walcott
but the Arsenal striker is quickly crowded out
and Bayern regain possession. |
49' Xabi Alonso attempts his party piece and
tries to embarrass Petr Cech by scoring from
his own half. But on this occasion the
Spaniards radar is slightly off and the ball
drifts wide. Ambitious to say the least. |
47' The pattern of the game remains
unchanged at the beginning of the second
half. Bayern Munich straight on the offensive.
Always passing and probing, looking for that
chance to unpick the Arsenal rearguard. |
46' No changes for either side at the break
and Bayern Munich get the second half
started. |
Arsene Wenger will be very pleased with the
way his players have taken his instructions on
board and implemented them so far. The
longer it stays at 0-0 the more he will feel his
team can nick a goal on the break. They have
shown that they are well capable of testing
the Bayern Munich defence. |
It has been a rather cat and mouse affair so
far. As you would expect Bayern have
dominated possession but Arsenal have
fashioned the most clear cut opportunity of
the evening. Theo Walcott was somehow
denied by a miraclous save by Manuel Neuer. |
45' And that is half time. 0-0 here at the
Emirates. No injury time added on at the end of
the of the first fourty-five minutes which is
unusual these days. |
43' Bayern have reacted well those scares and
are now trying to get on the front foot as we
approach half time. Douglas Costa does well
to pick out Thiago from the left wing but the
former Barcelona midfielder's shot is well
blocked. |
41' SHOT! Sanchez commits the cardinal sin
of giving the ball away in a really bad area.
Costa pounces on the error and looks to rifle
the ball into the roof of the net but Koscielny
does well to deflect it over the bar. |
36' Coquelin does exactly what he is in the
team to do and picks the pocket of Thiago
before moving the ball onto Cazorla. The
Spanish playmaker wastes no time in releasing
Walcott over the top. The England striker
races away from Boateng and side foots it
towards goal but it is straight down the throat
of Neuer. |

FULL TIME! Man United turn in a
comprehensive 3-0 victory over Everton on
their Premier League travels, with goals from
Schneiderlin, Herrera and Rooney wrapping up
a vital three points for Van Gaal's men. The
Toffees didn't really get going, with Martinez's
men firing blanks up top. That's all that we
have time for on Merseyside, I've been Smshola and I hope to see you again next
time. |
90' + 2' Jones scrambles away yet another
clearance, with Man United edging towards a
deserved clean sheet. Martial drives to the left
byline, before setting another dangerous cross
into the six-yard box, but both Fellaini and
Lingard can't make contact. |
90' There are three minutes of stoppage time
at Goodison Park. |
88' Coleman does well to head a dangerous
cross away, after a neat break down the right
by Herrera. Moments later, Martial breaks into
the box and rifles in a low cross, but nobody in
red can get on the end of it! Despite being
three goals to the good, the Red Devils are
still looking the more dangerous of the two
outfits. |
86' Fellaini tries to drive down the left flank
and break, but McCarthy recovers brilliantly to
deny the ex-Everton midfielder. The Red Devils
are trying to slow this contest down and hold
onto the ball, with the hosts only pressing very
reluctantly at this point. |
84' Martial is released in behind enemy lines
down the right flank, but the Frenchman is
denied by the linesman's flag. Everton respond
by breaking forward at pace, but Deulofeu's
eventual cross is lashed away from the danger
zone by Jones. Man United have defended
solidly. |
82' We're into the final 10 minutes at
Goodison Park, as Everton look to salvage
some of their pride if possible. Carrick drives
his way forward and wins a free kick from
McCarthy, but Man United are happy to set
possession back and see this game out. |
80' Barkley wrongfoots Schneiderlin and wins
a dangerous free kick on the edge of the
penalty area. The England international sends
a dipping strike goalwards, but the ball zips
over the crossbar and behind for a goal kick.
Nothing is quite going to plan for the hosts. |
78' Good defensive header from Stones! The
ex-Barnsley man denies Herrera brilliantly,
following a teasing cross from the right-hand
side! The former Athletic Club midfielder was
inches away from grabbing his second goal of
the evening, but the Everton centre-back
denies him. Moments later, Martial jinks his
way into the box, but has a near-post strike
saved by Howard! |
76' Deulofeu is trying to inject a sense of
urgency into the hosts' play, with the Spaniard
having the creativity and flair to make an
impact this afternoon. Martial dances into the
box, before feeding a pass into Rooney, but
the Englishman's touch escapes him. Lingard
picks up the rebound, but lashes a terrible
shot well wide. |
74' Carrick replaces Schweinsteiger, with the
Germany international's yellow card making
him easily replaceable. Barkley is denied by
the aforementioned ex-Spurs midfielder, but
an eventual through ball from Rooney is
gobbled up by Howard. |
72' Time is running out for the home side,
who are coming up against an immovable
object in Man United's defence. Van Gaal's
side are allowing the Toffees to have the
lion's share of possession, safe in the
knowledge that Everton have looked rather
toothless all afternoon. Coleman loops in a
cross from the right, but Darmian clears
easily. |
70' Lukaku is stood up well by Schneiderlin,
with the Everton striker booked for fouling the
Frenchman and then hurling the ball at the
turf in frustration. That sums up the hosts'
afternoon, as they certainly haven't had things
all their own way. Lingard rifles in a cross
from the right, but Jagielka slides in to make a
timely clearance that denies Rooney. |
68' Coleman sees a shot charged down from a
very narrow angle, with Everton winning
themselves a corner as a result. Barkley and
Lennon combine and take the set piece short,
but an eventual shot from the former is
parried clear of the danger zone by De Gea.
Man United break upfield, but a stabbed finish
from Rooney is well saved by Howard. |
