InvestmentRe: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by Snart303: 9:43am On Apr 20, 2024
Very well said do you have a materials or book I can read on becoming a good trader I’d be glad if you could share thanks.
essentialone:
1.Before I buy a Stock, it must align with my Investing goal

Also, I must be 100% convinced to buy the Stock based on my personal research

If I am not 100% convinced, I don't buy

Do you know why? I love my nights sleep. I can't be sleeping & also be thinking about the Stock Market

2.I am a very very patient person. I am a long term investor. All these short term stuffs, I don't do it

But I am planning on going into short term trades which I am taking my time to understand before diving in.

If a person earns 1million by trading a Stock in a very short period of time, it doesn't move me to do the same because I know where I am going & I know I will get there.

Once I get there, that's it. I am financially free.

3.I don't buy based on someone's recommendation. If a person recommends stocks, I do my own then decide if it's okay for me to invest.

I don't invest in what I don't see reason to invest in even if Warren Buffet sees reason to invest in that thing.

If I am not convinced personally, I don't invest. I need to be convinced myself so I know when to enter, how to enter and when to exit if need be.

4.Many have lost in stock Investing because they over diversify

How can someone invest a total amount of N100000 and buy 5 stocks with it

Why can't you just buy 1 or (2 stocks if need to be)

But no, you want to own shares in every company

My Portfolio is diversified & concentrated at the same time

I diversify but my total amount invested must Justify my wanting to diversify (if need be)

If you have invested in a great stock before, why are you Investing in another stock if that other Stock is still a good buy

There are no many great stocks, when you see one, go there aggressively

My policy is to concentrate holdings.

i try to avoid buying a little of this or that when I am not excited about the business or its price.

When I convinced as to attractiveness, I believe in buying worthwhile amount.

5.Another one is this, I can see my portfolio go down 20% - 30% and I won't shake a bit

I have seen my Nigerian Portfolio go down very very well. I have also seen it stagnant

But all these does not move me because I know my Investing goal & I know the Stocks I bought so I know how to act

6.Another thing is this,

I don’t pay attention to what people say about stocks.

Everyday there are millions of shares of Zenith bank traded.

That’s a lot of opinions.

If you talk to one person, you hear one thing…you talk to another, you hear different thing.

Noise & I are not FRIENDS

7.People in stocks tend to look at the price.

They let the price tell them how they should feel

You should look at the business just like you would look at a house you bought or a land you bought.

Price is what you pay, value is what you get

8.I will not sell my interest in businesses (stocks) where they are attractively priced just because some analysts thinks the quotations may go lower even though such forecasts are obviously going to be right some of the time.

I buy, hold & sell on my own conviction because I understand the industry I invested into & the company I bought.

9.Shareholders have too often behaved like sheep in this country and they got shorn.

I've encouraged the idea of shareholders behaving like owners.

Focusing on the price of a stock is not good because it really means that you think the stock market knows more than you do.

If the stock market knows more than you do, you shouldn’t be in stocks.

The stock market is there to serve you, not to instruct you.

10.A very important principle in investing is you don’t have to make it back the way you lost it.

It’s usually a mistake to try and make it back the way you lost it.

When you experience a loss in investing, it can be tempting to try to quickly recoup that loss by taking aggressive or speculative actions.

However,

Instead of fixating on recovering losses in the same manner they occurred, it's generally wiser to focus on making sound, well-reasoned investment decisions based on your overall financial goals, risk tolerance, and investment strategy.

In essence, this principle encourages investors to avoid chasing after quick, high-risk solutions to recover losses and, instead, to maintain a disciplined and strategic approach to investing that aligns with their long-term financial objectives.

This can help reduce the potential for further losses and contribute to more sustainable and prudent investment outcomes.

I will just stop here for now

Thank you 🙏

COPIED. I have learnt a lot from this.

I want to place order for starlink hardware for one of my persons in the village ,I want to know since I need to fill in my NIN will the end user be using my account and address for his subscription monthly?
Yes but he can always update the payment method along side NIN but if he doesn’t, if there’s any security breach or criminal offense by the user you’ll be the one to be held… all I’m saying is you’re the one Starlink knows not the person you ordered for which is why it’s advisable the user orders himself nah 9ja we Dey!

I know a guy who hoards Starlink in his store in
Lagos and sells it to ignorant people who do not know they might get cut off someday due to area congestion and most of them might not even have their one month free subscription any long cause it might have been in his store over a month. No kits, what they do is screw that Starlink floor-stand (the one that comes with the Starlink) to the roof .. Nigerians have started abusing the privilege

Do you have money in the account? I saw someone somewhere say they will debit you N50 to validate your card when you try to add it which they will return later. So maybe you are using a zero balance card. I have not personally tried it sha as this increase to 38K per month from December still dey vex me. Because even if you try to use dollar card now to pay, the amount that will be deducted wont even be $42 again, it will be higher
My providus master card I used from
The start isn’t validating as well I think it’s general problem
PhonesRe: The Starlink Thread by Snart303:
There’s a new way you can boost your Starlink connection to work even fast and with lesser latency though the difference might seem little but I’m sure when they add up it would go a long way especially if you game online or stream live sessions or broadcast with your Starlink… the solution is the new Custom DNS feature on the Starlink router settings. I did run my tests for about 6-8hours to see which server’s DNS is most suitable in my geographical location and the best is Cloudflare’s DNS 1.1.1.1 and then google’s 8.8.8.8
My DNS setting Cloudflare (1.1.1.1) primary, google (8.8.8.cool secondary

I'll advise you rename your 5ghz connection with another name, then connect your phone to it.
The naming doesn’t matter as long as your phone is 5GHZ compatible it will connect but I strongly recommend splitting and set auto connect on the 5GHZ network

it should work fine if the area you are living at is within 15 miles from the address you put on the starlink website. You can also change address via the starlink app settings

Hi Snart303, I see this gentleman has helped you answer all your questions. I'll add some clarifications.

1. To get your accurate service address, go to your Google map on your phone with location turned on. Make sure you at the place you want the starlink installed. Find the place on the map and click on the spot. You'll see details about the place. You scroll up and you'll see the PLUS CODE of that location. That's what you'll put in the service address.

2. By AC current and consumes like 20-50w. There are technical ways of running it on DC current but don't think you'll need all that wahala. If not YouTube is your friend.

3. It's completely unlimited in Nigeria.

6. When you buy it comes with residential plan. With this it can only work on your one location. Outside it, it won't work. If you travel, you can be lucky enough to change service address like chairman said, but it's not guaranteed and will take time for starlink to recognise the change. And even if you succeed, when you return to where you were, you may not be able to change back the address to where you were before. Residential isn't for moving around.

If you want to move around easily, you can while being in residential plan sub for portability feature which is extra $10. With that you can move around all Nigeria and in future all continent of Africa without wahala.
Portability is being removed in the USA and may also be removed here too.
So you are left with the next choice which is to change your plan to Roam plan. Here you pay $53 per month (that's what I'm using) and can move anywhere coz roam plan has no service address input. And you can pause for plan any month you don't want to use it. You can do that in residential, coz you must pay every month except you cancel starlink completely.

Attached is example of plus code
I ordered my Starlink on 29th and it’s set to be shipped in next 3days can I change my service address ? Because my area isn’t that much developed so I just used to closest landmark on the map as my service address and the distance is about 7-10houses away do I have to change my service address or it would work just fine when I setup my dish?

What information do you need sir?
You can highlight all of them and I can help you.
The answers will help someone who sees it. wink
Ok thanks sir, so do I basically have to purchase directly from the Starlinks official website? cuz I’ve been on the website to try to purchase while I was trying to I was asked to input I think
1. “service area” what does this “service area” mean?
2. [quote]How is the router powered ? with Direct current ? Or it has a battery storage like other routers
3.
Is the data indeed 1terabyte/unlimited for each month?
4. Also I read some people complaining about the network speeding dropping after awhile this drop in speed is it still reliable compare to our local connections?
5. Also are subscription payments made in dollar?
6. Let’s say I relocated from my primary location will it router function well in this new location as well?

I might have other questions but can’t remember all at the moment if there are other things you think I should know that I haven’t mentioned before going ahead to purchase i would really appreciate if you informed me(us) overall I just want to know if its worth the amount I(we) be spending on it.

“I’m new on Naira land I don’t know how to highlight or use other features”.
