Miscellaneous: Commentary Remarks for UNILAG

Finishing among the top 3's, Unilag pose a threat to Delsu, their next opponent and, of course, every other school. Making a show of AAUA twice has really shown that unilag is not to be toyed with and as such, they should be feared. The Akokites has shown strict and excellent display of talent and infact, Unilag in this debate depicts war. Snoopy's argument seems always to be decorated with presentation, logic and persistence. What could be the secret? Well, that leaves me wondering. On the contrary, his team mate, Damoskiy, lacks a bit in presentation and persistence. Speaking to Damoskiy, emphasis needs to be laid on the subject matter, that is, more convincing points need to pop up and more understanding of the topic needs to be done at this stage. Damoskiy, you are a nice pair for Snoopy, surely, but you need to work more on your understanding as this would make you have a better presentation and a fighting spirit. Remember, this is now a crucial stage. Back to Snoopy, I must commend your quick understanding of the subject matter and I admire your strategy—a nice tool you got.

What many of our learned debaters don't know is that, the first man to strike gets the day and invariably, his/her school wins except on very rare occasions. Snoopy has this in his palms, he is quick to strike during the rebuttal stage and not just striking, he strikes hard, unceasingly and gracefully such that before his opponent fiddle with his rebut, many more rebuts are at their feets and many others will stem from his opponent replies to his earlier rebut; thereby, giving their opponent a hard time.

For best result, Snoopy needs to be at the top of the debate as this would give Damoskiy the zeal to be persistent. While Snoopy will battle with Epaul for who has the best presentation and the day, care must be taken by both not to allow their arguments to become prone to puncture, condemnation, mockery and final loss.

Keeping in my mind that this online debate will be about tactics, at this stage, and forseeing Delsu coming forward with the duo, Epaul and Dr Amanda, Snoopy must lock horns with Epaul strictly so as not to allow Epaul pair with Dr Amanda to destabilize Damoskiy. For me, the akokites has the more work to do — keep the flag soaring high while belittling Delsu and, Snoopy making a show of Epaul while rendering help to Damoskiy who will be at the mercy of Dr Amanda.

@fynestboi...why not rearrange the words in the topic to something like "FG is to be blamed for the 5 months+ strike instead of ASUU" OR "ASUU is to be blamed for the 5months+ strike instead of FG" whichever one, at least that way the stand of those supporting and those opposing would be better communicated.....just my opinion.

Thought it was the other way round as well, the topic is not very definitive as to the stand of the supporting and opposing sides. I think the original stand should be communicated to the other side as well, else I forsee a mix up...would be a disaster to have both sides post their essays agreeing with each other on debate day

@fynestboi I think we should know the dates of the fixtures first before we talk about the timing. The concerns being expressed are merely out of speculations regarding the dates. A step at a time will reduce any confusion that could set in.

For us, the perfect timing would depend on the dates the fixtures are scheduled to hold....our exams start in 3 weeks
