damoskiy: UNILAG vs UNIBEN I beg coordinators tell us the date on time...I nid like 2 weeks to do research because of those UNIBEN people oooo....
thought it was ndu..fynest... fixtures and date please
I thought it was delsu ![]() |
damoskiy: Morning...I think d topics in this round should be more balance for us all to get a better share of the topic and enjoy the debate...nd please state who is up against who not winners 7 vs 1....my heart don dey beat fast oooo.....I hpe we are not against ............Not so sure about the other topics but I don't have any objection to our topic, I think its a topic that's pretty good and balanced and should pose an interesting challenge to both sides. |
Fynestboi: bother not, its just the topic original numbering... Check the opening page of this thread for more..Oh ok..then both sides to a topic will be determined in a chronological order right? I.e the first side supports while the other opposes for each topic e.g winner 1 supports and winner 7 opposes abi? |
Fynestboi: Winner 1 vs Winner 7What do the numbers in front of the topics signify? |
Epaul: lol, @snoopy, ehe! we are eager ta si yu point them outu.~winks~Lol..wait o, just to be extra sure, who are u meeting in ur next fixture? My eyes feel a lil bit hazy ![]() |
Fynestboi: lol can u point them out?The abuzaria vs delsu topic...."Childhood experience...." I felt the topic didn't elicit much passion, interest and vigour as against the uniben vs oau topic on amalgamation which was infinitely rich in content and served as an enthralling read post after post. Its also arguable that some topics tend to favour one side more than the other not necessarily as regards what side has more points at its disposal but that some side might have work extra hard with more research. For example the topic.."We need to focus more attention on agriculture as a nation than oil and gas" ordinarily the supporting side to a topic as this will have it easier as the topic seemingly mirrors the general consensus. It would be great if the topics that allow for equal tasking be used in the next round. Just my honest opinion tho which is very much subject to disapproval ![]() |
I hope the coordinators come up with interesting topics for the next round cuz if ya ask me, some of the topics in this round were...bleh! |
aysuccess99: ehn oga mi, I am still a small boy o, i'm a learner gan, you are kinda source of inspiration to me and i really appreciate ur efforts and that of other co-debaters cos it was u guys effort that ginger me up o and also the criticism of the judges....thanks to u oga king94, epaul, oluwatola5, mhyke, snoopy, niyi20, damitism(my grt boss of life) pseudonomer, dr. amanda, damosky, elliotwiz et al.and the judges@omolola1, deschyko, jarus, macltunji et al...I was just lucky to be the best debater, all thanks to God but the bitter part there is that my team is out of the competition. This bros too like to dey humble sha ![]() ![]() |
Lol @ quarter final fixtures |
Omo see debate! An absolutely enthralling read. Its crystal clear why the coordinators opted for a revisit of this infinitely rich topic. The debaters were wonderful. Matching each other strength for strength, wit for wit. I concur with aysuccess that this has been the best debate so far. |
rommyth: which university in Nigeria is the best in architecture discipline?Unilag of course! reason? Unilag is the only university with its department duly accredited by the Nigerian Institute of Architects in which graduates are allowed to write their professional examination immediately after their 2 year internship. Graduates of other schools will have to write some preliminary exams before qualifying to write the professional exam. Unilag is also one of 2 universities in Nigeria with its architecture department duly accredited by the commonwealth association of architects. Benefits which include you transferring to any university within the commonwealth nations to continue ur studies without need for any test or examination. All you need are ur transcripts. The other school with such benefit is ABU zaria. |
Mods forgot to lock todays debate threads till debate time...someone has already posted adverts in those threads ![]() |

Mhyke: thank God for seeing us through.Oga architect, I must commend ur gallantry sir you soldiered on and endured the tirade painstakingly ...but here's a brotherly advice tho architect to architect, don't ever argue with your jurors like this o, save that prowess for occasions like this ![]() |
Epaul: Lol, has the debate ended?for a moment there I feared you'ld blow a fuse and break some'in ![]() |
Jarus: Good job everyone. I have sent my results to the coordinators.Ouch! |
rudedough: I still don't understand ASUU and Nigeria students. Going back to school to do what? Have they fixed the Universities Infrastructures already or you guys are going back to the $hit they went on strike for?If you sleep with ur wife on your wedding night and she gets pregnant thereafter, do you expect her to give birth the next day? |
Wow! Was a close call..God is good lol considering the fact that my preparation for this debate was less that satisfactory..I had only completed my essay on the afternoon of debate day due to an extremely busy schedule during the week. I must also commend the AAUA folks..you guys earned by respect and for the fact that your school had resumed lectures and you even had to race down here from one is most admirable. Welldone ayotimide and sister gbemi, y'all were most formidable. |
Elliotwiz1: well i can see snoopy is beginning to modify his posts, i believe he is now understanding me.Nah I didn't modify, those were double posts...I understand ur argument but thing is you have every right to complain if you feel cheated, I just thought I should explain things so u could see it from anoda angle. Once again congrats sir |

Elliotwiz1: i am really trying hard not to get angry..... I can't believe you are all seeing that this debate was rigged yet you are defending the judgeS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Why were marks not removed from our opponents when they didn't post links eitherI must point out that anything I say here is without bias but with recourse to how I understand the dynamics of the competition...if you read the rules, it was clearly stated that materials used should be properly referenced. That alone puts a seal on whatever decision the judges make. I understand it can be painful and disheartening atimes when situations don't favour us but then again the ability not to fall flat during setbacks, learn from our mistakes and gear up are what makes us better people. Again these are just my opinions. You won the debate despite the deductions, that in itself acknowledges your strength. congratulations ![]() |
. |
@eliotwiz and getrichfast actually references are important. Firstly this is a competition and you need to provide verifiable sources of ur information to determine the veracity of used facts. Secondly, anybody could just google up stuff and overlift any material with little or no individual effort and therefore references are needed to acknowledge whose material was used else it would amount to plagiarism. The same way final year students and even up to phd students who write their thesis and dissertations are required to properly reference any material that was used and doing otherwise could attract a penalty. Besides prior to your debate, there had been cases where marks were deducted from those who didn't properly reference their materials and it makes me wonder how y'all could have repeated the same mistake. I hope u understand my point |
boay: GRAND TOTALWow! What a heated session...*standing ovation for Aysuccess* mehn...you try gan o. You outrightly didn't deserve to be on the losing side but circumstances did a terrible number on you. You fought gallantly baring no holds..I was impressed but unfortunately your gallantry met fiercly with the brilliance and impeccable coordination of the NDU guys and they prevailed. Great job from both sides, y'all did good justice to an interesting topic and your essays were a delightful read. Welldone. |
Epaul: Where's snoppy? ~looks around n sees him viewing thread; gives him handkerchief~ take and wipe away those beads of sweat from your brow. ~Pats his tired shoulder~ u na oga o, 2 against 1. Saw ur soldierly tenacity.. Weldone ~takes handkerchief frm him, gives him a bottle of chill coke~Lwkmd *downs bottle of chilled coke and belches wildly* pardon me buh thanks brother...that was needed. ![]() |
Epaul: weldone snoppy..~gives him handkerchief~ wipe away those beads of sweat from your brow..*collects handkerchief and wipes sweat off face, removes tee shirt and wipes sweat off chest* Lord! I feel much better *hands handkerchief back to Epaul* thanks bro altho I doubt u'ld be compelled to use that handkerchief anytime soon ![]() |
Ayomitide77: Do you realise that all the Fuel Stations across the country are under the oil and gas sector? Do you know the population of people working at oil terminals, oil fields and other oil-allied firms in the country?I assume you dont know all this before and I am glad I have been able to enlighten you about it.lol am tempted to argue this but I'ld let it pass as the debate has been declared closed. Besides I know u are very persistent and never get tired nice job from u, once again you have put my abilities to the test, you've been most formidable so far. Respect |
Miscellaneous: Debate now endedPhew!...finally..wasn't an easy task having to soldier it alone against two brilliant and well-informed opponents as my partner had to attend to his ailing mum. Hoping for the best tomorrow ![]() |
Ayomitide77: It was construction 35years ago,but taken your time to find out when the project commenced.its for u to provide me with verified information to convince me of your stand not requiring me to find out for myself...and as far as I know, Lagos-Ibadan expressway was constructed 35 years ago and guess what? I do have verified information for you on that lol www.thisdaylive.com/articles/lagos-ibadan-highway-long-walk-to-sanity-well-hopefully/155244/ |
Ayomitide77: Did I hear you say 1% of the population are employed by the oil and gas sector.Directly yes! I was even being generous with that figure. It should be much less than that |
Ayomitide77: And what makes you think the money that will be generated from the agricultural sector cant be mismanaged.Agriculture employs roughly 70% of our population as against 1% in the oil and gas sector...the government is directly in charge of proceeds of oil and gas through the NNPC, an agro-based economy is an economy where the larger populace have a direct share in the proceeds as against the oil and gas sector. |
