Luxiana19: My ba3 will soon die. But im still coming for u.
Coming for me for what? huh I never said it was a lie, I just said it wasn't official yet, way before you posted this on Nairaland, I had already heard about it cuz I've been on campus ever since but the authorities had not made it public till this afternoon. It was the same way the committee arrived at the december 9th exam date but people didn't wait for it to be officially announced before spreading it and it was eventually scrapped by the committee. Besides from ur post, its obvious you got the info off a bbm broadcast..and u didn't have any official source. That's how rumours start

You are stubborn sha. Its not official yet. Its just a proposal that was brought up at yesterdays senate meeting should in case ASUU doesn't call off their strike this year. Its the same way the senate commitee drafted a proposal for exams to be conducted dec 9 but was later scrapped cuz it was later adjudged not feasible. Same thing this, should ASUU call off their strike 2moro, Lectures will resume immediately! Or have u seen this on Unilag website or on notice boards? Or did lagmobile send you this information? Till then it remains what it is, a PROPOSAL! So don't get ur hopes high yet.

A quick question, concerning the judges I understand its yuzedo and mathew briggs that'ld preside over the debate I'ld be a contestant in, how sure is it that they are actually going to be the ones cuz I've noticed on some occasions, the judges listed were not the judges that presided over the debate.

Kiingsolomon: plz, I heard student in actuarial science are always posted in dat new Hallangry . Izit tru, abeghuh?
Am not sure about actuarial sciences but this is how it works: Hostel allocation is done on a "quota system" basis I.e every applicant has a category which they fall under such as freshers, Final year, sports, staff children, disabled, ballot. Others are given special treatment aside ballot and the online system is programmed to allocate the closest hostel to your faculty but as you know the hostel spaces are limited...so the principle of fastest hand is used. First to apply gets the best preferences and when the spaces are filled, you'ld be moved the nearest available hostel space for example in my year 1 back at 2009, most of my friends where allocated biobaku hall but because I applied a bit late, I was allocated shodeinde (new hall) cuz biobaku was filled and boy! I can't recommend that place for my enemy, so my advice is when hostel application is announced, apply sharply!

Alpha Maximus: Which hostel(male) is the most suitable to stay in?(I.e: cleanliness, serenity, and all that)
Depends on where your faculty is, if its down school, then biobaku most certainly but up-school, mariere or jaja should do cuz distance also matters, if you are a butty, stay away from new halls (sodeinde and eni njoku) and el-kanemi hall I repeat, STAY AWAY!!! Had chicken pox when I stayed at sodeinde in my year 1. angryangry

An architect can work anywhere because buildings are required virtually in every aspect but then, they must require your services before you will be needed. Usually Architects run consultancy services and hardly into paid employment aside architectural firms, altho there are some exceptions.

Team UI..

Your loss on today's match-up didn't kick you out of the competition, just take a seat and watch other debates go down,those progressing to the next round are being judged by the points they garnered and not the wining positions they got. smiley

Epaul: wow! We won, we won! ~wipes tears of joy with the back of palm~ So elated. First and foremost, i want to thank the organisers of this debate: Fynestboi, boay et al.
Damitism i must commend u for your piece and i must quickly say its however sad you didn't display the spirit of sportsmanship going by your comments against the fairness of the Judges. This was not a do or die affair. On the contrary, it was an avenue, a platform to learn and increase in knowledge. I must fess up that I learnt so much today. @Snoppy and Maclatunji, i doff my cap for you sirs. I intend taking lessons from you on how to ask trickish questions.
you just might if DELSU, luckily or unluckily (with the latter being the most likely situation) meets UNILAG at the knockout phase grin grin grin
EducationRe: Nairaland Interschool Debate::Winner:DELSU by snoopy(m): 4:46pm On Nov 29, 2013
i think both sides did a very good job but like i said in the planning thread....where i think U.I struggled a bit was their delivery aspect. they were not really tailoring their points to maximize the strength of their argument unlike the delsu folks particularly the Epaul guy, but i must commend damitism for his gallantry. mehn dude really fought questions from the judges bravely without relenting grin grin.....but then in the end i believe the spirit of sportsmanship is what matters. just accept the result and work on where u feel you were not at full strength and then come out better in subsequent debates. the judges and coordinators might also need to work on some grey areas as regards rules on who answers questions and all that so there wont be any question regarding the credibility of results.
EducationRe: Nairaland Interschool Debate::Winner:DELSU by snoopy(m): 4:10pm On Nov 29, 2013
Damitism: I will be glad to know how you arrived at those scores! I wasn't surprised at all considering how omotola was attacking me! It was like she was bent on seeing UI fall. Imagining asking the same questions umpteen times! Thanks to her, delsu won! I can now go on and enjoy my sleep after I waste my resources!
lol @ bolded. i can imagine how tough it can be when judges persistently focus on you grin grin
EducationRe: Nairaland Interschool Debate::Winner:DELSU by snoopy(m):
Epaul: although malpractice in post utme is minimal it still has not curb malpractice inherent in the admission process. He that offends in one has offend in all. Malpractice is malpractice. As a matter of fact the rot in the university admission has increased even more than it was. You would agree with me that most Students admitted in our universities were not worthy of admission. If universities feel they the manpower to curb, what's wrong if then join hands with jamb as one body to stem the tide of malpractice?
my question wasn't about whether or not there's malpractice at post utme level or at the admission process, we all know they are both susceptible to being compromised at varying degrees. my question was that given the circumstances at which post utme is held and in which malpractices are usually minimal as you have agreed, doesn't it suggest that it actually helps to a certain measure in admitting the most qualified candidates which is the ultimate objective and therefore cannot be ruled out as irrelevant?
EducationRe: Nairaland Interschool Debate. :::Planning Thread by snoopy(m): 3:32pm On Nov 29, 2013
Omesbrit: i think delsu first speaker did incredily well bt the essay is very long.
my point exactly...well spaced out, articulate and straight to the point and all ammo was used with pin-point precision......and lastly, delivery was excellent (where i think U.I struggled a bit). personally i think UI had the advantage by supporting but couldn't use their points to full advantage.
EducationRe: Nairaland Interschool Debate::Winner:DELSU by snoopy(m): 3:21pm On Nov 29, 2013
Epaul: don't we still have this same issue in post utme? It is a known fact that Candidates and kids of well-to-do parents still bribe their way through post utme. Prove to me that since the institution of post utme that universities now admit better candidates! Why do we still have students who can not write a complete a essay, who sort lecturers in our universities? Go to any university admission office and see how admission is being carried out. It is clear that post ume has failed in achieving its aim and such should be cancelled. Go and score 400 in post utme without long legs so to say and let me score 200 but have an uncle who is a friend to the VC of the university. Let's see who they will admit first.
in as much as the post utme is not entirely fool-proof, one cannot remove the fact that it has helped to a certain degree in admitting more qualified candidates. In post utme, the logistics, man-power and general organisation are not as complex as that of jamb where exams are taken simultaneously across different centres around the country as against post utme where exams are taken at different dates according to a schedule and with the adoption of the computer-based testing. dont you think this in itself helps to contain malpractices to a minimal level and increases the credibility of the exams at least better than what obtains at jamb?
EducationRe: Nairaland Interschool Debate. :::Planning Thread by snoopy(m): 3:07pm On Nov 29, 2013
FrancisTony: i smell jealousy.
of what exactly? huh seriously speaking, i must say UI didnt do enough justice to this debate, they came up with a very good argument but the delivery wasnt superb. 1, the essay was too bunched up and it kinda discourages a reader, observe the way epaul organised his points well spaced out and paragraphed although with too much words and discouraging as well. 2, the points were contradictory on some occasions. Or why do you think all the judges' questions are being directed at UI mostly. but generally nice job UI. cool cool
PhonesRe: Links To Downgrade From BBM8 To BBM7 by snoopy(m):
lookie: Please tell them o!! I had a curve 6 and got BBM 8 on my Curve 6 and it worked just fine. Now that I have a BB10 device it works even better! So please and please if you know you want to keep up with the trends in technology go and upgrade the OS of your BlackBerry Device and stop spreading rumours you can't back up!!!
Actually you are the one who does not know what he's talking about, bbm 8 is not bad but it has flaws simple! Part of which includes it slowing down your operating system drastically. I use a bold 9900 with OS 7.1 and since I updated to bbm 8, my device takes longer to restart, the clock sign is now a prominent feature as my. Phone freezes over intermitently and freezes more when using the bbm itself which atimes just wanna make me pull my hair out ....you need to check the reviews on blackberry appworld from thousands of users worldwide and they all complain about the same problems....bbm 8 has a poor 2 star rating, yeah u heard me 2 star!!! Go and confirm. Between, if you were a close observer of RIM major updates, you'ld notice there's always a glitch to every first release of a major update, remember bbm 7? Blackberry playbook OS 1? OS 7.0? Blackberry link?...then another update is released within days to correct the flaws and this bbm 8 is no exception
