Congratulations!!

EmmyToluwa:
LONG POST ALERT!!!

Hello all!!! I have been a silent follower of this thread though I have posted a few times in the past. I just felt it is important I share my landing experience so far so that people can learn from our experience. my time line follows:

1. Bought tickets October 3rd (please note not a mistake, na faith and good deal)

2. Got PPR November 8th 2017 (after 8 months of wait)

3. COPR and passport returned November 27th (I had sent out our passport November 13th).

5. On Sunday 17th February, we followed my friend to his church, a white dominated church, and after the service we were introduced as first-timers, this was where our miracle began. The woman (my angel actually) that attended to us, also an immigrant (from El Salvador) happened to be an HR manager at one of the Top 5 banks in Canada and while we were talking about our induction process in church got to know that we just arrived in Canada the day before asked about our employment status and I told her we will start to look for jobs once we are settled. Well na so she told me her bank would be having a career fair for job seekers and she will want to me to attend. I was like wetin I dey do wey I no go fit go?? I don reach there self!!!

As we got back home, my phone rang and it was the HR recruiter with her nice voice. She asked me what I tot about the interviews and I how tot I performed. My heart wan cut, i tot this is it, maybe they have rejected me. I told her I learnt alot and also that I am confident my skills and experience are well aligned with the role. And then I heard, WELL I AM HAPPY TO INFORM YOU THAT WE ARE OFFERING YOU A CONDITIONAL EMPLOYMENT!! I shouted!!! The thing just be like say I dey dream. I was like I neva even get house, I don get job. All the things the woman dey talk I no even hear, I was just too happy.

A very big congratulations to you. Quite encouraging...

behati:
Hello house, been silently following the thread. So I got PPR last year and did soft landing because I sort of wanted to get a job or at least be in the process of getting one before I move. I got the freetone app, included the number on my CV and applied for jobs. More recently, I started to contact talent attraction managers of the companies I was interested in on LinkedIn, it was hard for me to do but I decided to anyway since the worst I'll get is a "NO". Some didn't respond and I would send reminders after a week or two and I started getting positive replies, emails, phone interviews and video interviews. Summary is i just got a job in Canada right here in Nigeria. Although the job required someone with a CPA designation, i managed to convince them that i had ICAN which would make it easy when i want to obtain a CPA designation.

Just thought to encourage someone to TRY!

See page 19 of the 2016 Express Entry Year End Report here http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/pdf/pub/EE-2016-eng.pdf. The total number of Nigerians admitted into Canada under Express Entry increased from 98 in 2015 to 1036 in 2016

einsteino:

pls care to provide a reference for the bolded? The data i am aware of only showed an increase from 4131 to 4425 for 2015 to 2016.

mcstan18:

Yes, you need to submit POF documents with the application

tundechange:
For Nova Scotia PNP, must one submit proof of POF now or it can be submitted much later?

For those looking for PNP opportunities, please check out Nova Scotia. They will be opening at approximately 2 p.m. AST (around 7pm Naija time according to Google) on Saturday, Dec. 9, to accept 175 to 225 applications. 434 is good but 441 is better. Try to do the ECA for the Masters degree so that you can max out your points and increase your chance of getting ITA early.

hidreece:
Thank you @judgement.

When I simulated my CRS with a perfect IELTS LSRW 8777 for myself and my wife, with two Bachelors already evaluated by CES I got a score of 434

When I simulated my CRS with a perfect IELTS LSRW 8777 for myself and my wife, with a Masters degree (Hoping WES will do the right thing) I got a score of 441.

In your opinion, is 434 good enough for EE draw? or I should try and get WES evaluation to have 441, hoping ofcourse that our IELTs will be like envisaged.

Lastly, what is the least CRS score that can guarantee a draw based on recent events?

Thank you.

Use http://www.myfax.com/free/. It will allow you to send up to 10 pages

Saintp:

I read on hellofax that it is only free for 5 pages. But if you are faxing all the required docs to IQAS, it exceeds 5 pages. For example the signed application document alone is 3 pages, then put degree certificate, checklist, ID and payment receipt shoots it up 7 pages. I'm confused , i don't know if there is something I'm not doing right.

A very big congratulations to you and your family.

flyhigh1881:
Dear E-family, finally received the much awaited PPR!

I can't explain my joy.
It has been a very long journey. Entered the pool January 2016 with crs of 432(I think) and got Ontario nomination and accepted because the draw score was quite high then. We submitted Ontario application January our application was finally approved December 2016(one full year). We got ITA December and submitted our application January 2017. AOR 20th January. Got ADR February, submitted and since then status has been not applicable. Ordered GCMS and realized our application was been processed in London. When we completed six months we sent a mail( thanks to greetings for the sample), we got another ADR. This time requesting for military records because my husband mistakenly ticked yes to that NYSC related question. Thanks to ugoiyke79e who responded to someone who also had same issue, we submitted copies of nysc discharge certificate, nysc call up letter and a letter of recommendation from one of officer in charge of the military school (because he served as a teacher in the military school) and a LOE explaining our mistake and stating he didn't serve in military. After submitting, we sent another mail telling them we have submitted the documents they requested for and this afternoon, my husband got a mail for him to check his box and behold, PPR.
I thank God it all ended in praise.
This thread has been so informative and I thank everyone for their contributions. It is very very important to read as you will get answers even before you ask.

Like to acknowledge some people for their good work here. JesusDway, duppysho, vcole, zandora, 40manlappy, boldinc, ehrnie, mummyjaygirls(funny woman) and all others too numerous to mention. God bless you all.

PS. The PPR mail didn't indicate where to send passports to, is it strictly Accra? Am I to print the imm form and send alongside the passports?

Great news. Opportunity for extra points.

Gymme:
Express Entry Improvements starting June 6, 2017

-Additional points for candidates with strong French language skills, with more additional points going to candidates who also have English language skills.

On June 6, 2017, Express Entry candidates with strong French language skills, with or without English language skills, will be awarded additional points by the CRS.

A total of 15 additional points will be awarded for test results of the Niveaux de compétence linguistique canadiens (NLC) at level 7 in all four language skills in French (listening, speaking, reading and writing) and an English test result of Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) 4 or lower.

A total of 30 additional points will be awarded for test results of the NLC at level 7 in all four skills in French and English test results of CLB 5 or higher.

-Additional points for candidates with siblings in Canada

On June 6, 2017, the Express Entry system will award 15 points to candidates with siblings in Canada.

To get these points, candidates will need to show that the sibling is a Canadian citizen or permanent resident who is living in Canada and is 18 years of age or older.

The sibling in Canada must share a mother or father with the principal Express Entry applicant or their spouse or common-law partner. This relationship can be through blood, marriage, common-law partnership or adoption.

Having a sibling in Canada has been shown to improve health and social outcomes by accelerating a newcomer’s integration into their new life in Canada

-Job Bank registration voluntary

On June 6, 2017, Job Bank registration for Express Entry candidates becomes voluntary for all candidates.

Candidates who meet the minimum entry criteria for Express Entry will be automatically placed into the pool and immediately eligible for invitation rounds. If they do not currently have a job in Canada and would like to start their job search, they will be able to register for Job Bank.

Employers will still be able to use all of their existing recruiting methods, including Job Bank, to find Express Entry candidates.

I sent a single fax of 10 pages. The myfax.com site allows up to 10pages (including the cover page). As per expedited shipping, it varies from school to school. If your school supports it, please just use it so that the transcript(s) can get to IQAS quickly otherwise, you are still good with the regular mail (just that it might take a bit longer to get to IQAS 'cos of NIPOST)

floyo001:

Thanks for your response.
based on the info that I've seen in the thread, that most free online fax service don't allow more than 5 pages, is it ok to assume that you sent all stated docs in two separate fax messages?

Also, is it ok to use the mailing system that Naija schools use to send transcripts ok? or should one consider using speed mail ups, fedex or dhl ( I really do not know what Naija schools use)

Thanks

I included the following in my fax to IQAS
1. photocopies of my degree certificates,
2. biodata page of passport,
3. signed printout of the application request form,
4. filled copy of the application checklist form, and
5. printout of the purchase receipt for the evaluation

floyo001:

Hi, Please do we need to send anything thing to Iqas by fax? My assumption is that once you make payment, you then fill the request form... send to school... include clear copy of certificate & other required docs... then school sends to Iqas. Please assist with clarification of docs we need to send by fax? Thanks

Mine was next day. Sent the fax (via http://www.myfax.com/) on the 8th and got acknowledgment email on the 9th

studyexec:
Good morning guys, please how long does it take IQAS to acknowledge your ECA application after submitting the documents?

I faxed the necessary docs to them on Friday and have not heard anything since then.
