I won't be surprise if interest rates on loans ho up which will increase cost of goods and production not forgetting the effects of cbn policy on forex. It seems buhari wants to change the whole setup but our economy is too big for such radical Change in a drastic manner. Seems like PMB wants to "drive an eighteen-wheeler like a Porshe". onatisi: bros the wahala is going too be too heavy on the system. Don't forget the dwindling oil revenue, the bottom line is our economy is still not totally conducive for government to implement this policy at a go.please don't get me wrong the policy is good it will curb corruption within the govt circle but what many are saying is that it should be done in stages to give room for banks to adapt and adjust as it is been implemented pls note this policy was actually initiated by gej but he delayed its implementation and wanted to do it on batches.you can't just withdraw 600govt parastatals account worth over 2.6trillion from the banking sector at a go and expect no serious reaction Bro, we are agreed that there will be a negative impact. Where we differ may be in the extent of the impact. While I agree that the TSA should be achieved in stages, well, the reality is that FG seems to favour doing it in one fell swoop. I'm already looking at damage control; "shock absorption", if you will, if FG is not dissuaded from going ahead with their plan. PS. I like discussing with you. You've got a quick mind. |

onatisi: "He pointed out that if government decides to implement the policy strictly, there will be serious liquidity crisis as the top six banks in the public sector deposits control about 70 per cent of total money market liquidity." Sure, people will lose jobs. Agreed. If the part about six banks controlling 9.1 trillion with the remaining 19 or so "sharing" 3.9 trillion (70-30) is true, then my reaction is: "wahala dey". Perhaps not, if the said six banks will bear most of the impact of TSA. I see possible mergers, quite a number of layoffs, but maybe not unprecedented if we refer to Soludo's Consolidation drive. |

refreshrate: People are going to lose their jobs.
A lot of people.
Without this money a lot of banks wont be able to hold up and the easiest thing would be to shed staff.
Then a lot of money available for loans will be unavailable leading to...well im sure youre able to comprehend to that extent.
I hope you have nobody depending on this economy? Am I the only one who deducted from the article that the total money is about 20% of the total deposits in Nigerian Banks (2.6 out of 13 trillion)? If banks are sincere about the way they employ people and won't use this as an excuse to axe most of their work force, it won't be that bad. It will be bad, mark it, but not bank-crashing bad. Well.....I hope. |

Politics › Re: See What An Indian Expatriate Wrote About Nigeria by Sodiumdawg: 8:42pm On Sep 08, 2015 |
Show me a successful Nigerian, and I can easily add "against all odds" to his story.
Nigeria's leadership has always been about selling oil, living like kings and feeding us crumbs, so it's hardly surprising this Indian guy said this. Of what quality us our education? Is there any practical knowledge imparted in our universities? India is getting that right, at least.
That said, it cuts both ways. I sometimes lecture my Indian boss about Project Management. He knows next to nothing. I acted in that position for a while, and the project experienced an unprecedented burst of speed! Well, that didn't stop my employers from importing this vacuum-brained galoot to take over from me. The work is currently at a standstill. Shay I dey collect my salary? OK nau!
My opinion? It cuts both ways. The guy could be right, but sometimes Nigeria imports apes to head organizations in which, had it been in US or UK, they couldn't be employed as janitors.
My opinion. |

InvertedHammer: What is your point?
The manufacturers recommend Jet A1. Why cut corners? 87 fuel will power a car as much as 91 premium. But there is a reason high end cars manufacturers recommend 91. If a car manufacturer recommends a particular transmission fluid for your car, will you go against it? There are reasons for everything which go beyond "street smartness"
Why is keeping and maintaining a standard difficult for you to understand? The so-called "Nigerian Factor". It's killing us. Meanwhile that guy thought he was making sense in that post of his. When you see a Nigerian reading the instructions carefully, it only means he's looking for loopholes to exploit. |
