December to July is more than 6months. You will be fine to come in with your passport. You can easily renew it when you get to Australia.

Please I need your answers

While using parents or siblings as sponsor is preferable, I don’t think there’s an issue in using an in-law if you perfect your documents and stories well.

I and my wife sponsored my brother in law and it was also Torrens university.

Below are the documents submitted if that would help later.

On my side
I and my wife’s employment letters
I and my wife’s payslips
Joint account statement
House and landed property documents
Joint letter from me and my wife confirming why we want to sponsor him
Our passports
Marriage certificate + Wife’s change of name newspaper

I’ll advise you make it a joint sponsorship (your in-law and his wife which is your sister). That makes it more stronger.

On his side
Employment letter
Payslips
Reference letter from work stating how valuable he his to the company
Promotion letter
Study Leave letter
SOP stating he’ll return back to his work with his new position

NOTE: i would advise you give Australia a break of a year minimum before trying the study route again. They’ve seen the desperation in your application already and applying again now might birth the same result.

Most importantly, your SOP and your sponsor letter would play a key role. Make sure it’s very convincing and align it with every documents you’re submitting so it sync.

As if you’re paying people here to sit on forum 24/7 to answer questions.
This is a voluntary service out of busy schedules.
By the way, if you really want to dig for that information you’ll realise it has been answered countless times if you take your time to read previous threads.

Calm down when your ask questions. This is not a real-time service.

1. Make sure the agent you’re using is a registered/authorised agent from your chosen school.
2. I want to believe the agents advise was based on your academic/work experience profile.

What did you studied in your BSc? What’s your occupation?

gidi20:
Good day, please I would like to confirm if I can get recommended agents that can help me apply for Masters of social work. The 2 agents I contacted suggest that I should pick a management or business course just to get in and later I can switch my course.
My question, Is it that I can't be granted social work if I apply directly?

Enough of all these old stories from bloggers that haven’t been to Australia before 😂.
I’ve been living in Sydney for 4years now and I’m yet to see lizard talkless of Python. I even took my family to Sydney zoo and I didn’t see any snake.
Maybe in the regional areas but I have lots of friends in many regional areas and non of them mentioned any scary things. We all just move on with our daily lives.
Pack your back and come enjoy Australia, leave scary stories for the bloggers.

conqueror221:
Sorry to digress a bit. Nobody has talked about the wildlife in Australia, I have heard so much scaring stories about snakes and python. Can someone say something about this. How do the residents survive this? Or are the stories mere myths.
TravelRe: General Australian Student Visa Enquiries Part 3 by Softkey(m): 11:17pm On May 22, 2023
There’s nothing you can do about it. It’s expected they’ll use the normal exchange rate. It’s always advisable to book in Naira and pay in Naira.
You should have exchange the AUD from your wife’s account to your Naira account then make payment with your Naira account.
That’s the method I always use while booking though.
denzel231:
Finally bought the ticket, thanks for the guidelines.

Everything was about 1.1mil naira in Qatar airways but after paying with my wife card, they deducted $3500 from her card .. how manage? What's the exchange rate or na me confuse... The difference is much when you convert the dollar to naira. Help pls

If you’re coming to Sydney, Australia between now and end of June and you have no one or no where to stay, I may be of help.

I can pick you up from Sydney airport (If your arrival is after 5pm Sydney time).

2 weeks (max) accommodation with my family to make you feel at home.

Give you the necessary information you need to start-off. You can call it an orientation. Guide you on how to secure a job.

NOTE: I can only accommodate 1 person at a time (Female only so that my wife can be free in the house 😂).

2 weeks stay is the max, so save me the story later. Within your 2 weeks stay you need to arrange your own accommodation.

Totally FREE!!!

A Google search of “cheap OSHC” will give you multiple options to compare. Allianz, Medibank, Bupa etc. Read up and compare.

Check transit with the airline you’re booking bro. A transit visa is definitely needed when transiting via HongKong. Qatar is a good choice though. Qatar to Doha to Australia is a good one.

denzel231:
thanks so much but which is the cheapest OSHC, I saw alianz and it's a bit expensive. Any suggestions please? Thanks for all you do...

Lastly, can you list the countries where transit someone can transit when traveling to Australia?

I remembered vividly in 2020, Qatar airways said she can't transit in Hong Kong or thereabouts because they don't accept Nigeria COVID cards and for that reason, she bought another ticket entirely. I don't know if that still in existence. I will appreciate your assistance here because I am planning to go 2nd week of next month or month end. I am just looking for an affordable ticket

You can’t get Medicare card on a student visa. You need to go for Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC). There are lots of providers for that if you check online.
denzel231:
How do someone get Medicare card or private health care card?
TravelRe: General Australian Student Visa Enquiries Part 3 by Softkey(m): 4:03am On May 19, 2023
This is a strange case. You might want to quote the message as sent (remove the personal identity information) so we can understand the context. Better still, I’ll recommend you consult with a registered agent with experience to assess your application and see where things goes wrong.

Jubal21:
Greetings guys! Please I need a quick response on this. I just got an email from the home affairs saying my application is invalid. (because my residential address wasn't detailed) also they are refunding my application fee back to me. Has anyone being in or know anything aabout this. My course starts in August. Your timely response will be appreciated.

Note: A Visitor visa or Electronic Travel Authority (ETA) does not allow you to work in Australia. Any non-citizen on a Visitor visa or ETA who is working in Australia is doing so illegally.

If he can secure you a Master by research program instead of course work then it’s a great deal and it worths every bit of the application fee.

Master by research in most cases comes with Full or better Scholarship offer. Also this gives you additional point toward you PR.

PTE/IELTS may be part of the school requirements for Master by research.

Just confirm he’s been truthful and make your decision.

Ziocplc01:
Please I want to ask this questions:
Firstly, I applied for masters by coursework and got 20% scholarship with accommodation scholarship too, but my agent said he wants to reapply for me in same school for masters in research that it always comes with a better scholarship sometimes full scholarship or so, pls how true is this cos i will pay for another application fee.

Secondly, please I’m asked to write for PTE, I haven’t heard of this before, and I don’t understand why Australia school didn’t ask for English proficiency but their embassy is asking for one. Is there a way out of this? I even did undergraduate studies in UK school.
TravelRe: General Australian Student Visa Enquiries Part 3 by Softkey(m): 3:13pm On May 18, 2023
What you can study is a personalised question. A little research online will do justice to that.

If your wife includes you in her PR application then you get it if granted.

You might want to check the PR thread for PR criteria related questions.

denzel231:
Thanks brother for the response. What can someone even study in 3 months ?

Lastly can I also get a PR if my wife gets one?

What's the criteria of getting a PR?
TravelRe: General Australian Student Visa Enquiries Part 3 by Softkey(m): 2:21pm On May 18, 2023
The conditions are very plain.
1. Legally, you can only work 40hrs fortnightly (2 weeks). The rule was relaxed to allow unlimited number of work hrs because of Covid though but it’s set to be reverted back to normal by July this year.

2. It means you can’t study for more than 3 months.

denzel231:
thanks for the response..my wife is already doing her course in Australia. She has been in Australia for about a year + or 2years now. She got to Australia with a visa for masters in global bla bla which was not a good course and also not a PR course, she had to switch to Torrens university this year to study bsch in community service. Her initial visa expired in March this year and she was given a bridging visa but she applied for a new visa while in Australia with my name as dependent, God so kind they approved the visas for both of us..

For the first conditions, this means I can work unlimitedly right when I go and meet her?

For the 2nd condition, it means I can't school using dependent?
TravelRe: General Australian Student Visa Enquiries Part 3 by Softkey(m): 10:17am On May 18, 2023
As a dependant of a student visa holder, by law the conditions applies:

8104
Visa holder cannot work more than 40 hours per fortnight and cannot start work until the primary student visa holder has started their course.

Family members of the following students can work unlimited hours once the primary student visa holder has started their course:

students studying a master’s by coursework or research degree
students studying a doctorate degree

8201
Adult visa holders (18 years or above) are subject to this condition. This means that while in Australia they cannot study for more than three months.

denzel231:
As a dependent,
can someone work full time in Australia?
Can someone also school?
Can someone get PR?

Just asking . Thank you .
TravelRe: General Australian Student Visa Enquiries Part 3 by Softkey(m):
No cause for alarm, Further assessment is the 2nd stage which is normal, and after that the status changes to Finalised.

Some people assessment jumped from Inital to Finalised while others followed the 3 stages (Initial - Further - Finalised) so no need to worry.
Lunix:
Yes Masters bro. Hope so. It's just that further assessment that's concerning what it means

Nigerians generally require a visa to transit through Malaysia. This means that if you plan to transit through Malaysia on your way from Turkey to Australia, you may need to obtain a transit visa for Malaysia.

My candid advice, avoid Turkish airline.

Maranatha5:
Please I'm begging you guys in the name of God, did anyone travel with Turkish and passed through Malaysia without visa. Qatar won't be feasible as the price is 2.7m.

Please you guys should help me and advise before I make payment. Getting a refund won't be easy if it can't fly
TravelRe: General Australian Student Visa Enquiries Part 3 by Softkey(m): 10:04pm On May 09, 2023
Although there are many changes to come on July 1st but I doubt there is any change to the visa process for students.

Omoharjibolar:
hello house

Pls i learnt the AUSTRALIAN embassy want to start conduction interview for student visa starting from JULY 1st of this year. please

TravelRe: General Australian Student Visa Enquiries Part 3 by Softkey(m): 10:16pm On Feb 07, 2022
Your departure country is the last country you entered before Australia.
Let’s say your flight itinerary is Lagos - Qatar - Sydney. Your departure country is Qatar.

TheBoy95:
In the travel declaration, are we supposed to fill the transit country in which we enter Australia from as our country of departure and also, since we'll be transiting in another country before entering Australia, is it considered that we've visited other countries prior to our trip to Australia. (Regarding the part that asked if the traveller gas been to other countries within 14 days of trip to Australia).
Thanks for anticipated response

Just take the old one along with you as well.
pemilabelle:
Please what’s the implication of getting a new passport after visa grant (before traveling), would it affect one’s traveling even if the person goes with both old and new passport ?

Note: Reason for passport change...... Extention of validity.

US denial paper is the same if I’m right, and it’s not dated.
Vincentosa:
So what happened if the denial paper given couldn't be located? for example, a denial of 6years ago. I lost the paper on transit as I have relocated from 4 different accommodations since the denial was issued. What can be done about this situation? @Softkey, please your candid advice is needed, please.
