kulyie: The yorubas dont ask for much.i remember when i was way younger,i asked my mom why yorubas dont demand much and just allow you to pay whatever comes from your mind.she told me that if we say the man should start paying, honestly he would not be able to afford you because you are invaluable.no amount of money a man pays can buy the affection, struggle, guidiance and passion of a parent to her daughter aside from the money she has spent from antenatal,to diapers to school fees, text books all the way from primary to university,in short no man can buy the love i have for you moreover you are not a productor property to be 'bought' and so because we dont want any man to treat you like his property,we dont demand,if at all we demand, not much, because we have trained you to be a wife.secondly if the man abuses you in the marriage or subjects you to violence,we will have the justification to intervene and give him back his bride price but if he collects so much,we will not have the moral justification.i dont know why other tribes collect so much o,but i know we yorubas dont collect much.infact when my sister got married apart from the yam,2 packs of sweet,5packs of salt,6 pieces of buiscuits etc in hampers,he gave his wife's siblings 2,ooonaira each OUT OF HIS OWN VOLITION.NO ONE ASKED HIMNice. But why are you economizing your space bar? Spaces after punctuations biko. Because of that I bin no wan read your post o but when I see the many likes I just say make I try and I'm glad I did. + 1 like. |

Had my test on the 19th of April in Port Harcourt, received a success mail on the 26th but I'm yet to receive any other messages since then. Please anyone else in the same boat? Or with any information that might help me? Thanks y'all. |
Hallie27: why are you people so deluded in thinking? Why must you attack islam everytime? Do you want to compare a 9 year old over a 1000 yrs ago to a 9yr old today? Even if you dont know much about history,am sure you have people around you that read classical novels, how old did girls get married as close as 200 yrs ago? Maybe 15 or 16,and they are already mature physically and intellectually to be married. So imagine how it was more than 800 yrs before that. In our world today,a 25yr old girl is still considered as too 'young' to settle down, whereas 200 yrs ago,she would have turn to an 'old maid' in the society. So if you are comparing a 9yr old today to a 9yr old over a thousand yrs ago,then...am short of words...I like your comments. They bespeak a measured intellect but I think they are a little disingenuous . Shakespeare's Juliet was actually 13 years old; that seems to support you. However, there is no way a 9 year old would have achieved the physiological development required for sexual activity but 15,16 and even 13 year old girls can attain that level of physiological maturity. Even in the middle ages when they married girls as young as 8-12, it was common to wait till she had attained puberty and seen her first menstruation before consummating the marriage. So bottom line is Mohammed did wrong by any standards: modern, ancient or pristine. |
Please what is JAMB? Is it Ansaru - Jama'atu Ansarul Muslimina fi Biladis Sudan? If it is, who named them JAMB? |
black_beau: lies! lies! lies!.thats all we get in this country. btw,why are they offering amnesty to someone who killed hundreds? they should take a leaf from what usa did to osama when tthey finally caught him, they killed him. since they(boko haram)claim that they are not afraid of death, sentence them to death or shoot on sight. keeping them in prison is delaying them from meeting their 70 virgins. My friend, we would know a lot more than we do now about this BH situation if Mohammed Yusuf and Buji Foi were not extrajudicially executed by the police. I believe that they had inside information that would have taken us to the root cause of all this. Besides, the deadly cycle of reprisal attacks that we are witnessing intensified with the killing of Yusuf. Also, I believe that Yusuf were he still the leader today would have been much less virulent than Shekau. |
DICKtator: You mean this extremist is still alive?Kabiru Sokoto obviously has nothing incriminating to say about any of the Northern politicians otherwise jungle justice would have been used as it was in the cases of Messrs Mohammed Yusuf and Buji Foi. |
Omor Nairaland get find girls o no be small. I'm impressed with our mothers, sisters and girlfriends. And by the way, if I get a vote, I'm voting for staicey...https://www.nairaland.com/Staicey |
You guys really need to watch the interview. Senator Zanna divulged a lot of interesting and shocking facts(?) about the BH situation. For instance, that President Jonathan has never called him or any of the other two serving senators from Borno state to ask for advice concerning BH (Keep in mind that Khalifa Zanna is a serving senator under the PDP.) Also shocking was when he said that there are currently over 2,000 Boko Haram members in an area 45km from Maiduguri, alleging that the security forces are aware of this but lack the will to do anything about it. He also claimed that Shuaibu Bama, the alleged Boko Haram commander was not arrested at his house but was arrested at a residence belonging to Ali Modu Sheriff, the former governor of the state. However, elsewhere Khalifa Zanna has admitted that Shuaibu is a drug addict and the son of his sister. |
Cyntia: we're about to invite uStory story... This girl sef mtscheew |
ichommy: 2015 will soon come jareI fear that it will come too soon. If Boko Haram and Ansaru are still at large, things could get very ugly and very complicated. In times like these, I envy those who can believe in a divinity. |
50calibre: Only moderately average or poor couples sleep on the same bed at night. Rich couples sleep in their different bedrooms. This is post is wrong and distasteful on so many levels, but I'm too lazy to make a proper argument right now so I'm gonna focus on this minor grammar point. Like seriously, moderately average? |

Allen kee: [b]SINCERELY, I CAME OUT OF THE EXAMINATION HALL WITH MIXED FEELINGS!What subject were the novels for, I'm confused? Was it Maths, English, Government abi Economics? Hmmm... |
Kslib: Holy shhiiiit!!!!! I can't just believe these students are very happy and cofident that they cheated in their exams.. What is the use of wasting 6years in secondary school if you cannot write jamb yourself? Judging from the comments so far,i can confidently say that our educational system is finished?**does the sign of cross****. Wall of Fame stuff abeg! Respect. |
Kate77sexy: METINAPA! |
ritux: I wrote Jamb once.. This anecdote deserves a badge of honour, a place in some wall of fame. Almost makes you believe in a divine Providence. |
Registered for JAMB at 15. Knowing that the minimum age was 16, expected to be disqualified so I didn't study hard for it. It turns out I wasn't. Found out the day before the Exam that I had been given a centre and all that so I went home that night and tried to burn the late night candle. My centre was University of Calabar, a veritable market square as the exam went on. I got a bit of a migraine trying to think in the midst of all the hullabaloo. I gave up writing towards the end cos I felt so queasy from the furnace like heat and the noise. There were people standing on the top of our desks selling answers around the hall. There were people tugging at your elbows to get a better view of your answers. There were screaming invigilators inside the hall. There were screaming relatives outside the hall. There was chaos. In the end, I managed a respectable 263 but I never used the result for admission. |
staicey: Never wrote oneOoh la la |
Hmm |
Gbenge 77: This shorthand style of writing could be very vague and annoying at times.Speaking of vague, 'could' in that sentence is itself vague or just plain wrong. 'Can' is the preferred conjugation. |
