After struggling to jam the transmission signals of Radio Biafra, the Federal Government seems to have lost the battle as the station is back on air. The Federal Government had on July 14 announced that it jammed the transmission signals of the radio station, which was operating illegally from an unknown location.

The radio station however stopped broadcasting in July, but all indications showed yesterday that the radio was back on air, when it transmitted live yesterday on the same frequency it was before closing down in July.

Amid the controversies generated following revelations that the newly appointed head of the Federal Inland Revenue Service, Babatunde Fowler, was brandishing a fake doctorate degree from a United Kingdom institution, Irish International University, the 59-year-old has since dropped the honourary degree from his Wikipedia entry.

President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday named Fowler as the new head of the FIRS, but hours after the announcement of his appointment, it emerged that his doctorate degree might have been fraudulently obtained.

Sahara Reporters, an online news platform, claimed in one of its stories that Fowler’s ‘Ph.D’ obtained from IIU in May 2007 was fake.

The former Lagos Internal Revenue Service boss, according to SR, “engaged in desperate efforts to erase the controversial title from the Internet especially on Wikipedia.”

His biography has been edited on the website of the LIRS while the title of “Dr.” remains on his personal webpage. Seven years ago, a BBC investigation labelled IIU as a fake institution dishing out “substandard and worthless degrees” to individuals, especially influential politicians and business men from Africa.


The non-existent university is said to be linked to Baron Knowth, a chartered accountant whose real name was discovered to be Jeffrey Wooller.

Buhari shouldn't have released any press released on that jobless guy's experiment.

Come to think of it if a biafra would exist: would the millions of Ibos in Lagos and other part of the country sell their properties and return back to biafra? the guys in Alaba, Ladipo and many part of the North? Ibo traders sell their goods side by side with other tribes without issues in many part of the country.

Very minute and jobless Ibos will support any biafra nation. I am a Yorubaman who has travelled to ALL EASTERN States, i have visited most villages in Iboland yet i haven't witness hatred from them. I even slept in a stranger's house first time i went to Umuahia.
