My mum has an interview at the embassy. Am her sponsor. Currently based in the US. Do I need to give her my bank statements. I don’t know if there’s a better way to go about this, incase she is asked for the sponsors’ statement. Has anyone done this?

They will most likely not ask for the bank statement, but you can give her your bank statement incase they ask. I gave my dad my bank statement but he was not asked for it.

The in person check is for immigrant visas only. If you’re applying to a non immigrant visa, it does not apply to you. Just go on your interview date.

Few dates in July, August, September were released, people picked them quickly as they were released.

It’s not an issue at all. I helped my family to pay using a US card as well and they had no issue.

Hello, please how did you download the evisa after it was issued?, days after the application, they sent an email that there is a correspondence on the evisa page. When I went there, the application status says adjudication outcome received but there’s no way to download a document or check the correspondence.

I read something about dropping passport with OIS..i just need clarity on what exactly the OIS is for and at what point are they needed in this whole process.

If your interview is a physical one, then you’re not dropping your passport with OIS, you will only need it when your visa is approved, you’d use this website; https://appointment.oisservices.com/ to track your passport and schedule an appointment to pick it up.

If your interview is Dropbox, then you’d need to book an appointment for drop off using the above website, the date you pick on OIS has to tally with your AVITS one, then when the appointment date comes, you go to the location you picked and drop off your passport.

My friend's passport is ready for collection. She said there is no free slot to pick up the passport (only free slots start from late April). Can she get a free slot if she keeps checking or should she just pay for the premium service? I don't have any experience with this and would appreciate your advise. Thank you.

Is this in Lagos or Abuja?, the wait I have seen for Abuja’s free pick up: DHL is one week. If it’s Lagos, I don’t know if the wait time is longer.

Tell your sister to go to the oisservice Abuja you picked to ask them about picking up your passport, they’d probably give her a proxy form for you to sign, she can scan the form to you to fill and sign then send it back to her to print and take there. They will require the signature on the proxy form to match with the one on your passport.

I was approved 21 last month in Abuja after which I paid for OISservice delivery thinking it was Benin. I didn't know it's only for Lagos & Abuja. My appointment is today and I don't know how to switch it to Lagos if I can't get it sent to benin.

There's no email to reach out to the ois people and the numbers from Google are unreachable. Please can anyone advice on the steps to take?

On the OISservice, when you searched for your passport and it says it’s ready, which location did you pick? And what location does your appointment state?

Sometimes, it can be fast, other times, it can be slow. Keep tracking, it should be ready this week. If you need it urgently and you don’t mind paying for the premium service, you can go to the OIS office in Abuja. Otherwise, just wait for them to update it.

Have you tracked your passport on the oisservice website, if not, do that and wait till it says ready for pick up, they might not send you a pick up mail so it’s best to track it.

Something that people have tried to reset things is to purposefully enter the wrong password three or four times, it will lock your account, you can then click forgot password, it should send you an email to reset the password and you should be able to login afterwards. Let me know if it works.

Since it’s the appointment letter and it’s tomorrow , let her just go for the interview with hope that it won’t be an issue. She also shouldn’t bring it up herself when she gets there except she is asked, they might just overlook it. So far her passport and DS160 form has the right information.

That’s strange, maybe it depends on the bank. Chase Visa card worked for me. I don’t think you can use a Nigerian card, has to be some sort of dollar card.

You can also confirm from your bank to see if they are not blocking the transaction.

Please how do I navigate the payment portal on AVITS website, I have tried making payments using my Canadian credit and debit cards all to no avail. I also do not see the option to pay in the bank (saw on this platform that payment can be made in first bank). Is there a special way to make online payments or do I need to use Nigerian cards?

Try a Visa card, that was what I used. US Mastercard didn’t work.

Yes, go to the OIS office and see if it’s ready since you need it urgently.

I was approved in Abuja and selected Lagos for delivery.

It's more than 10 working days and I haven't seen any notification.

Go to https://appointment.oisservices.com/, service type: US visa, pick up service, enter your passport number, it will tell you if your passport is ready or not.

If ready, it will tell you where it is and you can set up an appointment for the location you want to pick it up from. You have to pay for the OIS option, so if you want to pick it up for free, choose DHL.

The timeline varies. I had one person being approved Thursday, issued Friday, and the passport was ready for pickup on Monday on oisservice website.

But the other was approved on a Tuesday, issued on Wednesday, we kept checking on oisservice website and the passport was not ready for pickup until the next Tuesday. Because she needed the passport urgently, she went to OIS Abuja location to use the premium service since it says her passport was in Abuja without appointment, and they told her the passport had been ready for almost a week even though they didn’t update the website. She was able to pick it up without appointment. Note: on her profile, she wanted to use the free DHL service in Abuja but they didn’t send it there in time.

I tracked his application status using his DS160 number and passport information on the ceac status website, when it was issued, I constantly checked the oisservice website to see if his passport was ready, when it was ready, I set up an appointment for pickup, they didn’t send him any email notification.

Nothing I've not done on this duplicate applicant issue for an application going 4 months now. It's tiring. I've raised countless service requests, sent emails, interchanged alphabets/numbers on the passport number, interchanged 1st and middle names. At the point of proceeding to update bank deposit details, it still does not proceed to scheduling. Though I didn't generate new bill after any data interchange as it keeps compounding the amount, kind of identifying each as a new application. I usually just go to bank deposit details to enter details of previous payment.

Yes, I also experienced this issue with my dad. If you create an application and you go back and forth too much maybe because it’s showing duplicate applicant, when you eventually proceed, it would have created multiple users for the same user and when you pay for one, you won’t be able to proceed to the calendar especially because I paid using card.

I had to cancel that appointment, forfeit the money (because I paid with card) and restart again.

That’s why I advised people stuck on the duplicate applicant thing, to first cancel the current application before using the first name and middle name combo, because if you proceed using the previous application, the application would have created multiple users on that application.

Combination of names doesn't have anything with the duplicate user. It's the DS160 No that determines the stuff. Just keep on pleading to customer support helping you delete existing account so that you can't continue with the current and you will keep on trying it because when it's done customer support won't alert you. At least I solved about 3 issues like that for 3 months.

Well I have had people that used the name combination that were able to successfully proceed. Infact, it’s not the DS160 numbers that gives the duplicate user error, it’s the passport number and first name/given name combo.

I know because my immediate family members had that issue too and they have gone for their visa interview, attended without issue, got their visas approved and had no issue tracking their passports when it was ready.

There were instances where I was waiting for them to resolve it, I opened tickets, called them several times, the tickets were escalated but nothing was done. It’s left to anyone who wants to wait for it to be resolved to make their decisions.

It seems they are slow to resolve this duplicate user issue, what I’ve seen worked for duplicate applicant is to put both first name and middle name in the space for first name. Also ensure you delete the current appointment request you’re stuck on and start afresh before using that technique, so you’re not stuck after making payment.

So far your name is correct on the appointment page, you’re good, the appointment is just to ensure you have an appointment scheduled and doing the above will not have any side effects.

Wondering if anyone has experience rescheduling dates for parents. Right now both mom and dad have the same interview date and time but I found an earlier slot but its only letting me pick one of them at a time and I want to avoid a situation where they end up with separate dates.

You have to do it one after the other. Another way you can ensure that they get the same date is to make sure the date you want to change to have at least two separate time slots available, that way you can tell that there’s slots available. But if on the date you saw, there’s only one time slot, there’s a chance that there’s only one applicant slot available.
