I am not sure of the rules that guide expedite date, i know if you've been denied before, you can't apply for expedite date, but since your denial was in fall and this new semester is Spring. I am not quite sure, you can call the customer care to be sure |

joshhhhyy: Please, am I to pay the visa application fee first to see the new dates when they open because as at now the date is January 10 in Abuja and I am expected to resume the week of January 6th? Also, please I have been denied twice - the last time being August 15. Does that mean that the January 10 I am seeing is for regular or previously denied? Please attend to me. Thanks. Yes, you have to pay another application fee. If the last time you were denied was August and if the question usually asked on the visa page still remains have you been denied in the last "two months", then your answer would no and you'd be able to apply as a regular applicant. My statements are based on the assumption that you were last denied in August and that the question asked on the Visa page is still two months. |

hansmond93: Congrats, this is great news. I think you should mail the Professor, thanking him for the offer and then mail the graduate school or the international students office or similar. Since it's fall 2020, I don't know if they would be issuing out your i-20 ASAP cuz fall 2020 stil far small. You should inform them of the Professor's Assistantship offer and dey might ask you to request for a contract letter from the professor and submit to them so they can process your I-20 form reflecting the Assistant offer from the School. All the best!!! His i20 cannot show the offer because the professor made it clear that he won't offer him the assistantship until he gets his visa. @ ridsan4real, fall 2020 is still far, thank the professor and keep in contact with him, however, apply to other schools too. |

I would like to address this as i have been seeing this alot. I know it is not easy checking for dates and only seeing dates after your resumptions, i know it can be frustrating. But what i want to say is chilllll , i know the resumption dates are getting closer and the interview dates are getting farther, but i would say on no account should you chose a day later than your resumption date at this point (i am saying at this point because i know some people would get extension letter and all that but that should be your very last resort, don't go with that option for now) The embassy does this every admission period, there might not be date for a while but it will come to a time that they would open up dates and the fastest people would take it. The interview date might even be few days away. So i would say, chilll, keep being alert, keep checking for the dates, don't chose a date after your resumption. |

Geojnr: hello all,
i picked a date on the 13th January which my classes are meant to resume and my school agreed to extend my resumption to 29 January.
please I need your advise. will it warrant for automatic visa denial If they are willing to extend your resumption to 29th and your interview is 13th, then it's still fine, just be sure to take along the extension letter to the interview. However, if i were you and you haven't resceduled before,i will still keep looking for a closer date as a back up plan |

Schrodinger1: Guys, Between a private SOA and Business SOA of a sponsor, which should one present during interview? The Latter has more funds though. Personal SOA is better for interviews. But if the personal SOA doesn't have enough funds, then you can take a business own. You might have to get a letter to show he's sponsoring and that he's the sole signatory of the business account |

electromagnito: I did a PhD interview on 22nd of November, with high hope, I believed i was going to be selected because i have sent my CV and summary of my master's thesis to the group leader. After my PhD interview he told me he knew my supervisor and even told me to extend greetings to him he then continue by saying "i was the best applicant so far" so he told me to send my full master thesis to him and he will in return send me article related to the PhD programme i applied for.. I did and he sent me some article. Its been almost 2weeks now and i have not heard from him. Does this mean he deceived me and reject me? Why will you send article to student you won't pick for a phd? I am really confuse here. If I understand you, you haven't gotten any response?, that doesn't mean he rejected you so far he didn't send a reject mail to you, he might be setting up your funding and all process. So if you haven't heard from him, just send an email, be polite, that you would appreciate his response so you can apply for visa on time. Is this for spring or fall? |

To everyone who has been denied and has some sort of funding with not so much deficit, if you have been denied once, you can try to reapply.
And to everyone who has been trying to reapply but haven't seen a good date, just keep checking, there would be a day the embassy would open dates, some might even be days away, and the fastest people who picks it would be the lucky ones, they do that everytime, so keep checking, day and night. Don't visit too frequent though, so the system doesn't ban you for 3days. You can visit the date page 5 times a day, you might want to space out the 5 times all through the day.
Spring 2020, yes you can
All the best. |

Acceptjesus: Hello Nairaland.
The denial rate is too enormous in this month of November, I want to believe there is something fishing. There's nothing fishing , it has always been that way, some are denied, some are approved and not everyone is on nairaland. All I would say is that you shouldn't let the denial rate affect you because all cases are different. |

Johnile123: Hello Guyz. Please I need your advice and inputs. My Visa interview is coming up
1.Is it enough to have a closing balance of just 7M on your SOA if your deficit is 6M. 2. Is it advisable to inform the VO that your advisor has promised a TA/RA position when you resume even when you don't have a letter of confirmation regarding the stipends.
I have full tuition waiver but the school promised to give me a TA/RA position only after resumption as it's on a rolling basis but I have a personal SOA covering the deficit. The VOs are not interested in the promise you were made until you have actual evidence of the TA/RA. Someone was denied earlier this year for mentioning that he was promised. About the deficit, if you're sponsoring yourself, you need to have at least two times your deficit to cover your deficit for the duration of the program because there is an assumption that if you don't secure employment on campus and you only have the first year's deficit, you might fall out of status cause you can't work outside school. And if someone is sponsoring you, it depends on the inflow in the account but I think 7m is too low. What I would advice is that you can go with your 7m personal account and look for additional sponsor. So you can say that you have personal savings of 7m and that your "..." would be supporting you too, you need the person's statements of account too. All the best. |

Benifbond: the two reasons behind u coming back to Nigeria are contradictory , telling a vo that u will come back to from known to unknown (searching for a job in nigeria that has nothing is not real), expect u are coming to take up family business. I agree with the first aspect but not the second one. Not everyone has family business to take up when they return, so it leaves them with the option of looking for and taking on jobs in Nigeria when they return. F1 is a nonimmigrant Visa and you need to demonstrate that you're returning to your country after your studies, in summary, you might be going from known to unknown, but that is what is expected of you when you're on student visa; you have to show strong hometies and plans that you're returning. |

Lizamegabush: Good day every one, I must confess that naira land is the best place to be for visa enquiries and the rest, I am kinda new on the platform but have been following up ever since I joined the platform. I was denied of visa on the 15th of November 2019 but have rescheduled for another visa appointment at Abuja embassy for 5th of December, although the previous visa interview was at Lagos consulate but due to the fact that my school resumes on the 13th of January I reapplied but didn't see a good date at the Lagos consular so I went for that of Abuja, I will be sharing my first visa experience although it was quite brief but I will also be sharing my supposed visa conversation for my next Visa interview. At the Lagos consulate, appointment time was 6:45am I arrived by 6:05 am but was delayed as I didn't print my SEVIS proof of payment , I went to the cafe and those guys frustrated my life when they said that my SEVIS payment has not reflected on the site , since on August 2019 , ah I nearly piss for my trouser, they printed a made up letter and gave to me to present on the place of SEVIS proof of payment and collected 2k from me, so I joined the queue and got to the point where I was asked for SEVIS proof of payment , I presented the made copy the cafe guys gave to me and the man looked at me like what!!!! and he wrote no SEVIS on my DS 160 and asked me to proceed , I went in for the interview but later discovered that some of us on my queue skipped the thumbprint session, so we had to go back for the thumbs print, I was praying that I be directed to the guy on window 9 as he was so calm and relaxed unlike the guys on window 6 and 7 but unfortunately , I was directed to the guy on window 6 and this was how the interview went. Vo: Good morning Me: went straight to meet him and I responded good morning sir. Vo: your i20 and passport please Me: quickly passed it to him Vo: so why are you going to the us Me: I am going to the university of central Oklahoma to do my masters in public administration to major in public non profit management. Vo: why this course? Me: the degree will help me with qualities such as * fund raising capabilities and at this point I went blank and couldn't remember anything , so i had to repeat same point again and he cuts in vo: who is your sponsor? Me: my father chief Ezenwa I was about to complete my sentence and he gave the yellow paper and said sorry at this point you are not eligible for the us visa , try again. God I felt as if I was in out of life So I got home and immediately got another visa appointment same day but this time around Abuja embassy for the 5th of December 2019. Total school fees :$23600 But I gain a Global diversity scholarship which is $8000 About 32% discount from the Total school fees and this will last for two years of my masters program as I will be given$4000 each year of my study. So my new proposed transcript is as follows. Vo:where are you going to Me: I am going to the university of central Oklahoma (uco) for my masters in public administration and non profit management. Vo: why this course? Me: this degree will prepare professionally to widen my horizon in The aspect of leadership and management skills, as I have The intention to return to Nigeria after my program to apply for the office of chief protocol officer in the ministry of labour and employment federal republic of NIGERIA, and with This degree I will stand a better chance for such job, and I will serve as a leader or attain key roles in the government Bodies, this degree will not limit me to government organization alone, as some private corporations such as the news and broad casting organization loves to hire those with masters in public administration for policy analysis and international organization management. Vo:how many school did you apply to Me:3 schools Vo: name them Me: Oklahoma State.university(osu) in still water, University of North Texas(until) in long beach and University of central Oklahoma (uco) in Edmond. Vo: why did you choose uco Me: I made my research and I discovered that uco has a flexible system of learning as students are allowed to create a customised system of learning such as * field studies, * internship*work shop* and independent studies so that they can be able to complete their degree faster. Vo:how will you utilize this degree back home. Me' after the completion of my masters, I plan coming home to take over from my family business and move it to a thriving State as I will be the one to do so in few years to come, and I also will go into partnership with the the (NDE) and some higher institution so that we can be able to establish an (Ngo) where I will be raising young minds on how to create a business of Their choice and also training them on how to become great leaders of tommorow as opposed to what we have currently in the country. Vo: who is your sponsor? Me : my uncle Vo: in your previous application you stated your father as your sponsor , why now your uncle? Me: my father has been so very ill of lately and I can not ascertain the outcome of event in the future , so my Uncle chose to take the responsibility.
I am so sorry if this is quite long but I will be so glad if the professionals in the platform can look into this, I am open to take corrections and adhere to any necessary development , thanks. Your "why this course" and "how you'd utilise the degree" isn't tallying, it should!!!. At one point you want to take up a job at the ministry of labour, another time, you want to take over your family business. Work on that. |
