Family / Re: Why Is It Difficult For Ladies To Keep Their Virginity Till Marriage These Days? by solok: 8:40am On Aug 30, 2016
Answer: Why is it difficult for young men to stay celebate till marriage? Why is it difficult for married older men to shun lusting and chasing after young innocent virgin girls and ladies??
Solve that riddle and you have the answer.
Properties / Re: Lawyer condemns new Lagos law legalising ‘foundation fee’ by solok: 6:47am On Aug 26, 2016
With this analysis, it seems LASG has now institutionalised and legalised 'omo onile' palava insstead of curbing it as was widely publicised.
Unfortunately, given the pace-setting perception and awe other states of the nation hold Lagos, the 'madnes' will soon spread to other partss of the country like wild fire.
The error in drafting the law should be corrected immediately.

Politics / Re: John Kerry Arrives Sokoto State by solok: 12:40pm On Aug 23, 2016
Kerry should pointedly ask Sultan to explain the mob action havoc wrecked on lives and property in Zamfara under the guise of defending Allah. Zamfara is part and parcel of Sokoto caliphate and Sultan is spirituual and cultural head of moslems in Nigeria. He should work at showcasing his cultural domain as epitome of Islamic tolerance.

Pets / Re: Joachim Iroko Remanded In Prison For Naming His Dog Buhari by solok: 10:34am On Aug 23, 2016

Na WA o, so we are no longer free to choose names for our dogs.
This is wrong. I don't support the man's actions but still this is a democracy we should have freedom of speech, freedom to air out opinions.

Once you shut the masses up we might as well go back to the military era.

Freedom of speech, freedom of opinion etc without limit/control amountss to nothing but recklessness and anarchy. The limit of your freedom is where it impact negatively on my right.
Yes Joachim may be free to call his dog what he wants, but inscribing the name (which in this case is also the name of a living elder in the community) on the dog and parading same in a community where the person bearring the name is highly respected is provocative.
Only God knows the real intention of Joachim for making that inglorious move....maybe he was hoping to precipitate ethno-religious mayhem!
But, as the popular song goes: "God win"

Politics / Re: Shekau Fatally Injured As Army Kills Boko Haram Commanders In Sambisa by solok: 8:36am On Aug 23, 2016
? Shekau 'wounded' or 'taken out' again?
The man must have more 'live' than the proverbial cat with nine lives! Or is it the source/quality of info being deseminated on him by the Nigerian military that needs to be scrupulously checked?
Politics / Re: 8 Killed In Zamfara Over "Blasphemy Against Islam" by solok: 7:20am On Aug 23, 2016
cryWhat was the blasphemous statement/conduct allegedly deployed? What in Allah's name was the crime of another moslem man who in the name of Almighty Allah and humanity rescued a fellow human being mobbed in a higher institution of learning and rushed him to hospital for medical help?? What crime did his (good spirited Nigerian rescuer) household commit to deserve being burnt to death in the safety of their home??

Yet prominent Islamic leaders/elders/scholars want others to believe Islam is a religion of peace and that moslems, especially those from that part of Nigeria where Islam first took root, are not intolerant of other religion

Last time in Kano, news reports had it that a christian woman was mobbed and killed in open market and in front of her family for asking a muslim youngster not to do abulution...washing of head, face, mouth and legs...right in front of her plastic wares shop. The criminally minded youngster went to mobilise others to mob the woman for "blasphemy"
Also, a young christian man taking a deserved break from his menial labourer work in Kaduna during moslem fasting period was mobbed for not taking part in the then ongoing ramadan.

Despite rhetorical assurances of "fishing out and dealing with perpetrators of the dastardly acts" from political/religious/cultural leaders in the North where all these happen repeatedly and wantonly, no single case has been successfully prosecuted and the outcome publicised to serve as deterent to others.

This is sad!!! Makes me wonder if truly and indeed we deserve to be together in same boat called Nigeria

Pets / Re: Why I Named My Dog ‘buhari’ — Joe Chinakwe by solok: 12:39pm On Aug 18, 2016
cheesy grin
Crafty devil!!
He got good coaching and has successfully talked his way out of deeper trouble.
He has also opened/blazed the trail for any similarly orientated person to name his/her 'pet' after any 'hero' of choice....especially those from outside his/her ethnic stock. I will now get a local mongrel puppy and name it Nnamdi Kanu....in appreciation of the IPOB hero's 'doggedness' 'resoucefulness' and 'i-cannot-be-intimidated' attitude despite his current travail. I want my mongrel puppy to grow up and be like my 'hero' Nnamdi Kanu, after whom it is named, while serving my family as alert dog...not neccasirily a guard dog. I aspire for it to serve with doggedness and bull-headedness as the real Nnamdi Kanu is doing currently.

Any other Nairalander want to take a cue and follow suit? Name your pet after your 'hero/heroine' from other ethnic stock or nationality apaert from yours.
Common let's go! Let's have fun as we see various heroes' names on our 'favourite' pets

And no commentor above has said anything about the il/legality of the arrest.

Since when did it become a crime to tag a pet any name whatsoever?

Since when did it become a crime to wear the name tag or inscribe the name on the pet's skin?

This is 21st century; anyone can name their pet whatever they choose. And this is the Southwest for fnx sake not the North; I don't see how this is inciting.

Sometimes, I just wonder if Nigerian institutions are meant to serve the North -- see how the police were quick detained the man beyond 24 hours & stepped further by transferring him to a higher station.

Where the lawyers dey o, help me understand this matter abeg.

....Conduct likely to cause breach of public peace....that's your answer. Just imagine a person of northern extraction residing in Yenagoa, in reaction to this provocation, if unchecked, goes ahead to name and inscribe his billy goat with OJUKWU. What would Ohaneze Ndigbo elders and youth fora say or do?
The Chinakwe man is a mischief maker with clear intent to precipitate civil strife. The law has ample provisions to deal with such persons and indeed such persons must be contained to prevent anarchy in the country.

Forget the name but this is a decent outfit. She has made a powerful statement - women dont need to expose their bodies in public outings.

Very powerful statement indeed!! That....moslem young/youthful women can still participate in sports even in their hijab. Its also a 'wake-up' call for sports equipment/dresses manufacturers that there is a potential market in moslem countries for apprropriate sports dresses for their female athletes.

Culture / Re: Ooni Of Ife, Oba Ogunwusi & Olori Wuraola Return To Nigeria (photos) by solok: 11:18am On Jun 29, 2016
Btw, why does Olori Ogunwusi prefer to appear in public in flowing gowns like diaspora Africans in Haiti, Carrebean, Brazil etc? She tends to come thru as 'iya orisa' from those climes. Is she capable of wearing our more intricate iro and buba, or does she need royal tutoring from older Oloris? I would like to see her project that aspect of Yoruba culture as well!!

Politics / Re: FFK Assaulted, Injured In EFCC Custody In Lagos By Officer Kabiru- Lere Olayinka by solok: 7:35am On Jun 26, 2016
I advise nairalanders take this 'press release' with a pinch of salt...or ketchup as may be appropriate. Lere, the basket mouth piece of PAF is hugely notorious for turning blue into red in his pursuit of defending/speaking for his principal and all he stands for. Remember his recent warped arithmetic of PMB and Aisha's age diff leading him to draw evidently wrong conclusions designed to bring the woman's husband into opprobium!

He should show us concrete proof of this alleged assault and circumstance leading to it..... we all can then take it up from there.
