Lamanii22:If not yet ascertained....since they've been on for more than a year now...let her find out if he is trully divorced legally in accordance with law, custom or religion (if moslems), or are they merely separated and living apart by choice? Did the wife relocate outside the state or outside the country as direct effect of the separation? How old are his children and with whom do they live...mother or father? It should be noted that separation is not same as divorce. For the former, no serenren is required for the woman to come back into his life but for the latter, she has to go through 're-marry' formalities to get back into his life formally as wife. Furthermore, if they are merely seoarated and your sister accepts him (and his baggage) so well that she doesn't mind being the other woman, the second wife, baby mama etc kept and maintained outside...or brazenly brought in with ogboju by the man, she can go ahead, otherwise reconsider. Also, before she allows pregnacy to set in, she should properly clarify the position/situation she and her children (including the one she is a single parent for) will be in his life equation. Finally, how well does she know his bossom friends and/or parents/siblings/uncles/aunties, any relative that he dearly respects and hold in high regard? What are their dispositions to her? Are they in support or not. These are some good questions and persoectives to consuder.....so that she can reasonably be well informed of likely consequencies of whatever decision she is taking. |
Roseodd:Don't be shy about it, go see a doctor quickly and make sure you dilligently follow prescribed medication, abstain from intercourse (even if you are married) till you receive 'all clear' verdict from your doctor. If possible, take your girlfriend along for the treatment without being judgemental. Do these in your own interest and as a vital public service. Screen for HIV also as it tends to walk hand-in-hand with VD. The earler you know the extent of issues, the better you chances of returning to your happy go lucky self. Good luck!! |
All parties being muslims, the trial should be subjected to sharia law. What is penalty for fornication and/or rape in sharia law? |
He is young blissfully ignorant and stupid. Even if this is the only time he has done this stupid feat, thinking he is showing off his youthful macho, medically, he is going to pay dearly for it in the very near future becuase spinal discs at his lower back will by virtue of that episode already be stressed and any little thing...as simple as bending down to throw water on the body in bathroom or lifting a 3-4yr old running to welcome him back home may trigger the shift called "slipped disc"...a very painful, metally sapping and debilitating nerver-ending pain which may also lead to inability to walk properly for life and loss of ability to ever have erection again....weak or full. Such foolish practice should be dicouraged and those foolish enough to be angaged in it should be pitied not celebrated. Ask any medical doctor about it. "If you know, you know" "You dont appreciate it until you or someone very close to you fall victim" |
frozen70:There is a saying in Yoruba, that when a woman has been long in her marriage ie in her husband's house, esp having given birth to children making success of their ongoing tertiary education or already living by themselves and earning pays esp if she already has grandchildren, she becomes a formidable 'institution' to be reckoned with in the marriage..same level with a witch or a small deity. Best way, from personal experience, to handle the situation is to have a dialogue with her about your feelings regarding the episode and similar ones, also mention your misgivings to her in presence of the children if that are above 20yrs. The combination of these will help her to recalibrate but you also must be ready to be held to same standard. Otherwise, you may find yourself a lonely old man, barely tolerated in your own home. |

Poor snake killed for nothing....just because it sought warmth. What ought to have been done was to simply lift the wildlife with a stick into the bush...but sadly, as a people, our sense of maintaing balance in the ecosystem is very poor! |
please know and be reminded that next of kin is not same as beneficiary in case of death intestate......the former is close relation to be contacted in case of emergency while the latter is the beneficiary of estate (or specifically assigned portion of it) in event of death. |
[quote author=UzorChinonso post=90357098]Good day Nairalanders, I have been married for just a year now and it has not been easy here! My Husband wants to know every thing about my finance. He has disturbed me to know how much is my salary worth of. I have always denied him of the fact, what I know is that I used my money to refurbish our flat, got some new things to change the outlook of the place.... But I am not really finding it funny any longer. As we speak, he collected my ATM card since last two weeks, said I must tell him the pin or I should forget having it back. I went to my bank, told them that I lost the card and they changed it for me last Friday and he collected it again said it's either I tell him the pin or he will do something funny ... I don't know what funny thing he's gonna do but I am worried! Pls is this how marriage is? He claims to own me and own my salary! Is it fair? This marriage is too early instead I would have quit and I am pregnant at the moment! What do I do? I don't want anybody to know anything about my finances including him till I have my baby whom my spirit accepted that I should make my next of kin. please know and be reminded that next of kin is not same as beneficiary in the event of death intestate. \ |
i think you can have both my broad. you will be surprised...when you scratch the surface small.....to know that more than quite a handful of naijas..even in civil service have dual citizenship. with the global covid19 lockdown though, I believe all such moves are 'on hold' for now. las las...i recommend you keep working on the Nigerian opportunity while at the same time keeping eye on the Canada opportunity....which is only likely to open when the global lockdown is eased....and what's more, the process is not moinmoin....it takes months if not years to emigrate legally....unless you want to land there as 'stoway' in which case you would have made up your mind to put away all your bukuru certificates/experience and start as a cabbie or farmhand and begin to work your way up with or without your siblings social/palliative support. |

Diary of a New Wife! Monday: We are back from honeymoon and settled in our new home. It's fun to cook for Chuka. Today I made moin moin and the recipe said, 'Beat 12 eggs separately '. Well, I didn't have enough bowls to do that, so I had to borrow 12 bowls to beat the eggs in, the moin moin turned out fine though. Tuesday: We wanted a fruit salad for supper. The recipe said, 'Serve without dressing'. So I didn't dress. But Chuka happened to bring a friend home for supper that night. They both looked so startled when I served them. I think it was the salad. Wednesday: I decided to serve rice and found a recipe, which said, 'Wash thoroughly before steaming the rice'. So I heated some water and took a bath before steaming the rice. Sounded kind of silly in the middle of the day. I can't say it improved the rice anyhow. Thursday: Today Chuka asked for salad again. I tried a new recipe. It said, prepare ingredients, and then toss on a bed of lettuce one hour before serving.' I hunted all over the place for a garden with a bed of lettuce and when I got one, I tossed my salad into the bed of lettuce and stood over there for over one hour so the dog would not take it. CHUKA came over and asked if I felt all right. I wonder why? He must be stressed at work; I'll try and be supportive, don't you think. Friday: Today I found an easy recipe for cookies. It said, 'Put all ingredients in a bowl and beat it'. Beat it I did, then went to my mother's place. There must have been something wrong with the recipe, because when I came back home again; it looked the same as when I left it. Saturday: Chuka went shopping today and brought home a chicken. He asked me to dress it for Sunday. I'm sure I don't know how hens dress for Sunday. I never noticed back on the farm, but I found an old doll dress and its little cute shoes. I thought the hen looked really cute. When Chuka saw it, he started counting to ten. Either he was really stressed because of his work, or he wanted the chicken to dance. When I asked him what was wrong he started crying and shouting out 'Why me? Why me?'. - Author unknown |

Hmmmm! For the worth of all the pros and cons of the on-going debate, the Nigerian Judiciary will take a long while to fully resolve this and most certainly, it will never be the same again. One of the clear fallouts would be that the directly impacted Judges and Justices will have to take a bow out of the bench and go into (early) retirement or 'pursue other interests elsewhere'. Going forward, public perception may very well query their ability to remain uncluttered, unchained, unbias, independent in handling casee..any case at all...brought before them for adjudication. |
