PDP Candidate, Omisore, Concedes Defeat In Osun Election
Governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Iyiola Omisore, has conceded defeat to Governor Rauf Aregbesola of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who was declared winner of Saturday’s governorship election  in Osun State, western Nigeria.

Governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Iyiola Omisore, has conceded defeat to Governor Rauf Aregbesola of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who was declared winner of Saturday’s governorship election  in Osun State, western Nigeria.

 Reflecting on the outcome of the election through his media aide, Mr. Diran Odeyemi,  the PDP governorship candidate said: “We would not be deterred  because of the development.  What we lost is the Osun State governorship election; we did not lose lives. We thank the Lord for everything.

“In all situations, I will continue to give glory to the Lord because He knows better than  us and He alone has answers to all questions.”

Omisore also congratulated the people of Osun State and expressed his commitment to his party and the state.

“Falling down is not new in the politics, rising up is the strength of a good leader. We shall bounce back. Congratulations to the people of Osun State because we all  won,” he added.

Omisore has, however, declined to congratulate  Aregbesola.

Osun gov poll, a painful loss– Jonathan

President Jonathan yesterday said it was painful that the ruling Peoples Democratic Party lost the Saturday’s governorship election in Osun State to the All Progressives Congress.
This statement was made by the Special Adviser to President Jonathan on Political Affairs, Prof. Rufa’i Alkali, while conducting a facility tour on Goodluck 2 Goodluck () 2015 Project national headquarters in Abuja.
He furthers. “Today we would have celebrated Osun victory. It is however, a very painful day for us because the PDP candidate and the party had completed their home work and we know the people of Osun are tired of what is happening in the state, but here we are.
“I hope the APC, which is in the habit of complaining of having security agencies in ensuring enabling environment for election and is consistent in controversy and rejecting election results, will reject this Osun state gubernatorial election result.”
He however commended Independent National Electoral Commission and the security agencies for the roles they played in delivering a credible election in Osun.
Speaking on the groups canvassing for the reelection of President Jonathan in 2015, the Special Adviser said “Since assumption of office, we inherited 3,000 Goodluck Support groups, some have been existing and some are new, and we felt it is only those that are serious, and that we know each and every one of them, in faces, not only on papers, know what they can do and how we can collaborate with them.
The national coordinator of and former governorship candidate of PDP in Edo state, Gen. Charles Airhiavbere (retd.) vowed that President Jonathan would return in 2015.
“Our target is 50 million volunteers to mobilise so as to ensure that President Jonathan wins in 2015,” he said.

PDP rejects Osun gov election result

The Osun State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party has rejected the election result declaring Governor Rauf Aregbesola as the winner of the governorship poll.

The PDP agent in the election and State Publicity Secretary, Mr. Bola Ajao, distanced the party from the result after the announcement of the outcome of the poll by the Returning Officer, Prof. bamitale Omole, on Sunday morning, in Osogbo.

Ajao refused to sign the election results form given to agents at the INEC office.

The party spokesman faulted the process of the election, saying some of the figures published were unacceptable.

He said the party had earlier written a petition to INEC, complaining about the election process in some units.

He said, “I cannot sign. We cannot accept the outcome of the election. My principal, Iyiola Omisore, knows the next line of action. We will decide what to do. We have earlier written a petition to INEC to establish our complaints.”
