Politics / Re: IBB's Government Seized Buhari's Certificates - APC by Solupeace: 9:51pm On Jan 15, 2015
Something is definitely wrong with some Nigerians: Buhari has been deceiving Nigerians all these while and all some people could was to be holding brief for him. How on earth would he submit an affidavit that his credentials are with the military and INEC will accept it.It also means that if he had sworn that he doesn't have they will still accept it.We need to condemn this disgraceful act of Buhari and his supporters.

INEC has published the qualifications claimed by candidates. It shows that Buhari had filled that he had a WASC.It is clearly stipulated in the form that candidates should submit photocopies of their credentials but he failed to do that.

Some people have cited Sambo's case as an excuse which we all know is quite different: unlike Buhari,Sambo went to the institution that awarded the certificate for a "TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN".

It now behoves on Buhari to approach WAEC for a clearance. Again, his supporters should stop this partisan support because our constitution will not be suspended because of one man.

Lest I forget, which year did Buhari write the WAEC? NONSENSE!

It's heart-warming to see that the man of the moment,GEJ, has really lifted our spirits. He has reawakened our resolve to believe in a better Nigeria if it's entrusted in his hand. The speech was devoid of rhetoric as I listened and tears of hope rolled down my cheeks.

The reinvigorated electoral system caught my attention the most: every Nigerian now demands for a voter's card unlike what is obtained before his triumphant entrance to the political space. This is very important as it gives us the right to even vote him out if he misbehaves.

He also talked about his pragmatic approach to tackling corruption. It was eye-opening because I almost got trapped by the opposition's propaganda. He made it emphatic that the best way to fight corruption was to strengthen institutions of government. He gave example of IPPIS which he pointed out was one of the reasons some federal government workers didn't receive their salaries for December on time as the system blocked untoward corrupt actions of some civil servants. He again cited an instance on how it worked in the fertilizer distribution scheme where hitherto fertilizers were diverted and it will not get to the farmers. Now it gets to farmers and unadulterated.

He said a lot of things that are actually worth encouraging. Goodluck has made my day!

achi4u: That's one problem with those people from Ebonyi south, they always want to claim more Superior entity than the rest of the state. But they will quickly clig to defend Ebonyi state when it suit them and at the same time denying Ebonyi when its didn't favor him.
As an Ezza man nobody is better than me.
I have silently followed you not just in this topic but also in others especially as it relates to Ebonyi state. I must confess that I admire your constructive arguments. I'm from Okposi,I was born in Abakaliki (I had my primary school in Nkaliki and my secondary School at Presco, now Abakaliki High School) and I'm married to an Ezza lady from Ezema, Onueke. I have given you this background to assure you that whenever you hear or see such discrimination it should be taken as a complex. I have interacted with people during my university days and my working life to understand that Abakaliki bloc of Ebonyi state still remains one of the brightest people in Nigeria-I'm a product of it. I wish to meet you someday to appreciate your forthrightness in the midst of whores in this forum.

My fellow Ebonyians, whoever that sells his brother for one kobo is not worth more than that!

robosapien: I weep for Nigeria as I sit here and write this. I can not imagine how something so irrelevant managed to run into more pages on this topic than things we should care more about. Majority of you educated but yet illiterates who took ownership of this thread as though it was your birthright are not even up to par with real Ebonyians that I know of. Why do you guys feel the need to judge a particular group of people, based on your interaction with their local population, which does not in any way represent the whole group? This goes to show the lack of critical thinking skills that the Nigeria school curriculum lacks so greatly, and which is why most Nigerian can not make informed decisions. By coming on Nairaland to spew your ill-thoughts about Ebonyi State will not change a thing about the state and it's people. Rather, it presents you as a threat to the unification of Nigeria. If you allow your shallow minds to think outside the box just for minute, you will come to realize that Nairaland is not graced just by Nigerians alone, but by people all over there world. Therefore, you are simply identifying yourself to them as one of the many problems of Nigeria by not accepting your own. Language is a beautiful thing! and if you have never invented one, don't say anything bad about the ones you don't understand. If Ebonyians speak Igbo or not, it should never be a problem. They dare to be different, and diversity precedes our numerous qualities as a blessed country. As a Nigerian, I refuse to conform with any territorial state barrier, language barrier, and tribal barrier. Nigeria will be a better place if we can all live together as one, without limiting and dividing ourselves by states, tribes, and languages, as with the case of the deportation saga within Nigeria. There "SHALL" be no changes if Nigerians believe that we should be limited by our states, tribes, and languages and keep recycling the same ideologies decade after decade. As for the Nairaland halleluiah boys/girls who jump at any internet-enabled smart phone or computer to comment childishly on a thread, try writing your comments down with pencil, and then wipe them out with an eraser before typing them up for the whole world to read. Seriously, its a waste of cyberspace!
Great! Do have a great new year.

The earlier we team up and salvage our state the better.
My brothers let's not pick fight unnecessarily so as not to wash our dirty linens in the public. South, central or north,we are all ebonyians. Thruth be told, Ebonyi is great and will be greater when we all colloborate.

JustBeingMe: All of you spewing trash here know nothing about Ebonyi and Ebonyians. You all come here and insult Ebonyians but are quick to run after the rich ones.

Ebonyi state before it's creation was part of Enugu and Abia states. You can't imagine the level of marginalization and discrimination they faced under these states especially the Ezza, Izzi and other parts that were in Enugu state then. They didn't smell any government attention under these states. No infrastructures no nothing! All they have now, they got after the state was created. So you can't compare a state that was created in 1996 without the leasts of developments to states created in 1991. That's 5 years gap we're talking about here, not to talk of the ones created in 1976 or so. Haba! Be fair!

The whitemen arrived very late to the place we now know as Ebonyi state especially Ebonyi Central and North. This was not the case in Ebonyi South though. As far as education and literacy is concerned, Ebonyi South can compete very well with other states in Nigeria. When other Igbo states were already enjoying the fruits of education, Ebonyi state was still deep in ignorance. My dad told us the story of how parents hid their children whenever the whitemen were around to 'capture' kids to be enrolled in schools. My dad and their last born are the only educated people in their family. His parents gave him to the whitemen so he would be punished cuz he was stubborn and lazy in farm work. His hardworking sisters were hidden from the whitemen. This was happening in the 1960s so you can imagine. The ignorance was that much. They never knew they were doing him a huge favour.

It's dificult to find an educated octagenarian in Ebonyi state, Ebonyi Central especially, this is not the case in Ebonyi South. You might find them in Ebonyi Central and North but they're few. I agree that other Igbo states are ahead of them in terms of literacy but that shouldn't get into your heads cuz things are changing now. Ebonyi children are shining wherever they are. If given the right opportunities, Ebonyi children will conquer. They are intelligent. Come to the Faculty of Clinical Medicine in Unical and see for yourselves. Ebonyi children are shining.

What Ebonyi state needs now is a young vibrant leader that has the passion to lift the state from the shackles of poverty especially in the rural areas. Sam Egwu really tried as the state governor cuz he started from the scratch to develop Ebonyi state. This present governor is a wicked old man. He practically destroyed everything Sam Egwu built. The Hatchery, Ebonyi Queens, the Cement factory, EBSU teaching hospital and other things. For six good years, all we hear of are Oferekpe water supply, International market and Ochudo city, all these I consider as white elephant projects. International market in Ebonyi state? Where are the industries? Is it rice you'll be selling in the international market? He has just two years if not less, to complete his tenure and I don't see him coommissioning those projects. Most of the roads in the state capital were built by Sam Egwu. Elechi and his son, Elechi Elechi have finished Ebonyi state. Ebonyi needs a good leader that has the interests of the state at heart. Dazzall.

#ProudlyAdaEbonyi
When people see me and I tell them I'm an Ebonyian they find it hard believing cuz they just can't comprehend how a beautiful and intelligent girl can hail from Ebonyi state. That was then people! Not anymore. Watch out for Ebonyians! cool
Great! I think this is just a tip of the iceberg. The intelligence and articulation are d hallmark of our brand. Keep it up sis!

I think you lack reading comprehension and the angle you are viewing mascots first comment is wrong. He is just stating his observation and not forgetting to let us know that they are peace loving people and also very satisfied with whatever they get unlike the other igbos.I don't see where he says something negative about the state except where he mentioned that Abakaliki people are mumu which he learnt to be from Enugu people.
I have seen that u r his mouthpiece and an authority in communication yet u don't know anything on negative communications : u can read that up later. People like u will still spew rubbish against Ebonyi. Long live Ebonyi State, long live Nigeria!
Politics / Re: Is Ebonyi No Longer Part Of Nigeria? by Solupeace: 11:27am On Dec 31, 2013
I've to take a time out to comment on this as doing otherwise will be a great disservice to my great state.@op I hope the essence of creating this topic is to" put" EBONYI on news and not to pour insults on the great people of Ebonyi. It's heart-breaking to see how Nigerians use any available room to belittle others, in this case,Ebonyians. This state was created in 1996 together with Bayelsa,Ekiti, Gombe, Zamfara and Nassarawa: any objective criticism should be done bearing these states in mind. There is no state in Nigeria that does not have a handful of enlightened individuals , so Ebonyi is not handicapped at all. I don't intends to start mentioning names as we live in information age and whosoever that truly wants to know about Ebonyi can easily get it.I'm a gtreat Ebonyian also from Okposi:as a person I have travelled to all the states of Nigeria and have always held my head very high as a young Nigerian. Okposi as a town not to talk of the state capital can pass as a very civilised place any time. I must not fail to add that I'm not impressed with mascot87 who was sent to Ebonyi to help build and also be her Ambassador but he has turned himself to be the chief prosecutor notwithstanding the love and kindness that he was showered with though he has taken it for timidity. I served in Sokoto and have since been turned to an apostle of the state. Ebonyi is young and developing and definetely need to be in the news to facilitate its development and not for negative reasons. Long live Ebonyi State, long live Nigeria!

@crazyman,thanks .But he claims that terminal benefit might not be paid since he's resigning notwithstanding that he has spent 7 years with the bank. Again, I have also advised him to get in touch with their HR but he said that would be dangerous as it might be counter productive.
