Bizibi: abeg it just have to change, the peanut is still in billions na,this is 2013 heading towards 2014 ebony I need d change akpabio did in akwa ibom Change carried out with 30billion monthly while Ebonyi gets only 2billion. God help any Igbo man I meet live condemn Ebonyi because I will get him battered to comatose state. Ebonyi is rising gradually and happen to be victims of neglect under various States until they found their own with Abakaliki area being most maltreated under Anambra and Enugu States. The Afikpo area enjoyed reasonable patronage under Abia and are today still so attached to their Abia neighbours. God bless Ebonyi, God bless Igboland , God bless Nigeria. 1 Like |

The caliber of ignorance and hate filled comments been spewed by certain people is alarming, I be nwa 042 but I must tell you guys that the magnitude of economic activities going on there is higher than that of my state. I deal on lubricants and I understand their daily consumption compared to other neighbouring states. |

Solupeace: I've to take a time out to comment on this as doing otherwise will be a great disservice to my great state.@op I hope the essence of creating this topic is to" put" EBONYI on news and not to pour insults on the great people of Ebonyi. It's heart-breaking to see how Nigerians use any available room to belittle others, in this case,Ebonyians. This state was created in 1996 together with Bayelsa,Ekiti, Gombe, Zamfara and Nassarawa: any objective criticism should be done bearing these states in mind. There is no state in Nigeria that does not have a handful of enlightened individuals , so Ebonyi is not handicapped at all. I don't intends to start mentioning names as we live in information age and whosoever that truly wants to know about Ebonyi can easily get it.I'm a gtreat Ebonyian also from Okposi:as a person I have travelled to all the states of Nigeria and have always held my head very high as a young Nigerian. Okposi as a town not to talk of the state capital can pass as a very civilised place any time. I must not fail to add that I'm not impressed with mascot87 who was sent to Ebonyi to help build and also be her Ambassador but he has turned himself to be the chief prosecutor notwithstanding the love and kindness that he was showered with though he has taken it for timidity. I served in Sokoto and have since been turned to an apostle of the state. Ebonyi is young and developing and definetely need to be in the news to facilitate its development and not for negative reasons. Long live Ebonyi State, long live Nigeria!I think you lack reading comprehension and the angle you are viewing mascots first comment is wrong. He is just stating his observation and not forgetting to let us know that they are peace loving people and also very satisfied with whatever they get unlike the other igbos.I don't see where he says something negative about the state except where he mentioned that Abakaliki people are mumu which he learnt to be from Enugu people. |

Abagworo: The problem with Ebonyi, Taraba and Northern Cross river isthat they are oddly position just at the end of Nigeria separated from Cameroun by rocky mountains that makes smuggling and cross-border trade an almost impossiblity. I love Ebonyi State and Ebonyi people especially Afikpo. Its the most green part of Igboland with the most humble but warlike Igbos.. Thank you my bro! It means the media especially NTA has a lot to do aleast portray the good places in nig ;ebonyi has a lot to showcase in afikpo |

Ebonyi state is a really peaceful state, crime rate is so low. What i love the most about people from that state is how they care about their fellow indigene compared to other Igbo states. |

All of you spewing trash here know nothing about Ebonyi and Ebonyians. You all come here and insult Ebonyians but are quick to run after the rich ones. Ebonyi state before it's creation was part of Enugu and Abia states. You can't imagine the level of marginalization and discrimination they faced under these states especially the Ezza, Izzi and other parts that were in Enugu state then. They didn't smell any government attention under these states. No infrastructures no nothing! All they have now, they got after the state was created. So you can't compare a state that was created in 1996 without the leasts of developments to states created in 1991. That's 5 years gap we're talking about here, not to talk of the ones created in 1976 or so. Haba! Be fair! The whitemen arrived very late to the place we now know as Ebonyi state especially Ebonyi Central and North. This was not the case in Ebonyi South though. As far as education and literacy is concerned, Ebonyi South can compete very well with other states in Nigeria. When other Igbo states were already enjoying the fruits of education, Ebonyi state was still deep in ignorance. My dad told us the story of how parents hid their children whenever the whitemen were around to 'capture' kids to be enrolled in schools. My dad and their last born are the only educated people in their family. His parents gave him to the whitemen so he would be punished cuz he was stubborn and lazy in farm work. His hardworking sisters were hidden from the whitemen. This was happening in the 1960s so you can imagine. The ignorance was that much. They never knew they were doing him a huge favour. It's dificult to find an educated octagenarian in Ebonyi state, Ebonyi Central especially, this is not the case in Ebonyi South. You might find them in Ebonyi Central and North but they're few. I agree that other Igbo states are ahead of them in terms of literacy but that shouldn't get into your heads cuz things are changing now. Ebonyi children are shining wherever they are. If given the right opportunities, Ebonyi children will conquer. They are intelligent. Come to the Faculty of Clinical Medicine in Unical and see for yourselves. Ebonyi children are shining. What Ebonyi state needs now is a young vibrant leader that has the passion to lift the state from the shackles of poverty especially in the rural areas. Sam Egwu really tried as the state governor cuz he started from the scratch to develop Ebonyi state. This present governor is a wicked old man. He practically destroyed everything Sam Egwu built. The Hatchery, Ebonyi Queens, the Cement factory, EBSU teaching hospital and other things. For six good years, all we hear of are Oferekpe water supply, International market and Ochudo city, all these I consider as white elephant projects. International market in Ebonyi state? Where are the industries? Is it rice you'll be selling in the international market? He has just two years if not less, to complete his tenure and I don't see him coommissioning those projects. Most of the roads in the state capital were built by Sam Egwu. Elechi and his son, Elechi Elechi have finished Ebonyi state. Ebonyi needs a good leader that has the interests of the state at heart. Dazzall. #ProudlyAdaEbonyi When people see me and I tell them I'm an Ebonyian they find it hard believing cuz they just can't comprehend how a beautiful and intelligent girl can hail from Ebonyi state. That was then people! Not anymore. Watch out for Ebonyians! 10 Likes |

mascot87: Did my NYSC there as well. Your analysis is mostly spot on. However, it is not fair to say they are living in stone. If you call them stone age, what would you call the Koma people of Adamawa state who still go about naked? Main occupation of these people is farming, so lifestyle is rural and agrarian. They work very hard in their farms growing yam and rice. The only sign of government are old colonial era schools, rented LGA offices, etco |

Ebonyi is a blessed state I would say. They're naturally endowed with myriad of resources that are yet to be exploited. I remember some years back when I was in Ishiagu for some agricultural projects and I know there were some companies there then, like ''The CrushRock'' that was extracting Limestone and others. Their land is so fertile for the cultivation of rice and other agricultural produce and their people are mostly agrarians. They're unlike other Igbos because they're not too ambitious. The place I knew they traveled much to then, was Aba, I don't really know for now. They are really good people. If Ebonyi could have a good and visionary leader who could harness and tap into all those resources I believe that state would be great |

They hardly socialise they keep to themselves and I also notice some traits of inferiority complex in some of them.. But they are good in agriculture especially rice.. Their women are very hard wroking than the men... I just hope with time they will stand to the occasion and speak out for themselves more often.. Watch out for ebonyi state |

God! where am I when this thread was created? Anyway, as many of you may have known, I'm an Ezzaman from Ebonyi state and I have no regret about it. Yes,Ebonyi state may not have been making news all the time but the once we have been able to make are/were positive. We have represented NIGERIA in two occasion to international secondary school competition and we are still leading in the east as of this month when we trash all the other 5eastern states. So many news abound in my dear state. |
Lol I served in that state and I can tell you that their is nothing to report about that state. They are living in stone age and the funny part of it is that with the number of people i spoke to their, they seem to feel comfortable with whatever they get good or bad and they don't complain. They don't insult their leaders and they believe that even if their governor is not performing well, God will give them someday someone that will perform well.I remember the Ezza, Ezilo,Ameka,Ameri, ikwo people. They don't bother about anything, they just live their life and peacefully. If you hear Enugu people say "you this Abakaliki man" it's an insult o,it mean say you be mumu. They believe Abakaliki people too mumu.Abeg free them jorr, they are in a world of their own
Am just from the state, l can tell you that there are alot of Federal project going on there. The Governor is obviously not performing. He is old to think out innovative things apart frm normal paying of salaries. Afikpo ppl are quite df, very unique ppl but unluckly in Ebonyi State. |

They didn't smell any government attention under these states. No infrastructures no nothing! Correct. Ebonyi people were really marginalized by old Enugu. When Sam Egwu was there Ebonyi easily ranked as one of the fastest developing states. They were also in the news frequently. However, they got sentimental when it was time to get a successor for Egwu, deferring to the old man Martin Elechi was one of the key agitators for the creation of the state. They made a mistake with Elechi. However, Senator Anyim Pius Anyim former senate president and current SGF is from Ebonyi. Wonder why he is not doing more to attract development to his state. |
