You won't need the SSN to do that.

Gracydee:

does it mean that one doesn't need the SSN to process the passport and visa?
Travel / Re: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 2 by somchisom: 10:26pm On Apr 10, 2015
I also got the sSN exactly 2 weeks after birth.

The zero balance letter just stated that I don't owe the hospital in one line. Hope this is okay and is the letter sufficient? Or do I also require a receipt?

Thanks

Hello house,
In the spirit of giving back. Here is my birth story.
I gave birth to my baby girl March 17th at United memorial medical center, batavia New York through C.S. Stayed in the hospital 3 days for all. The hospital offers a 60% automatic dscount for self pay. Got my bill for 3947.69 for mother and 1407 for the child, total of 5354. Doctor's fee for ante natal and delivery was 1499.4 (I was scheduled for natural delivery with a mid wife but had to go for c-section last minute, which included a doctor in the package. The fee above also include all the meal I had for 3 days. The service was awesome, everyone including the doctor's were very friendly, nice and professional.
I let them know before I delivered that I was going back to Naija in less than a month after delivery so they could process my birth cert and bills on time.
I filled the birth cert form before I gave birth and gave them baby's name on delivery. They filled for the cert on friday, I called the county's office on Tuesday and I was told it was mailed to me the monday after that friday. I guess they used regular mail cos I didn't get it that week, went to their office the following Monday, paid 10$ for another copy which I usedto apply for her passport. I paid 165$ for the passport and got it sameday. I mailed her passport to the agent for the Naija visa for 342$ (Tanko hardly picked his calls, felt safer using a company's service). They got the passport Tuesday Morning, got the visa same day and mailed it back to me. I got the passport the next day Wednesday. I have gotten my zero balance letter from the hospital. Leaving for Naija today.
Hope this helps someone.

Please one question. The zero balance letter is just a line. Hope this is okay.
Good luck to everyone

Hello house,
Please can someone advise on how I can apply for the baby's Nigerian visa at NYC without having to go to the embassy. It's about 8 hours from where I am. Please advise on how to apply for the expedited service. Thank you

Hello house. Good morning. Pls I need some clarification. Was encouraged at my hospital to apply for the hospital financial assistance programme for self pay and they claim it has notin to do with insurance whatsoever. Can someone confirm this and do u think its safe?

Hello everyone. To the glory of God, got into New York yesterday night, Nigerian time. In the spirit of giving back I would love to share my experience.
It was favor all through for me from Naija airport.
The officer checkn box didn't check mine cos he said he didn't want to stress me and I had lots of tins there, like oil, indomie, utazi, scent leaf etc. I checked in my luggage and used thefast track lane for for boarding. I flew KLM to Amsterdam and Delta to new York.
KLM didn't ask me for any fit to fly (didn't knw whether to be happy or not, after paying big for it and the stress d hsptal put me thru b4 providing one) bt thanks to God.
Flight to Amsterdam was uneventful, at Amsterdam they 'interview' every one going to the U.S for security reasons b4 u can go to the boarding gate.
I was asked questns like, where I work, my country, wat I do for my company, who I would stay with, how long has she been in the states, her address. If they r satisfied with ur answers they would return ur passport to u. In all, it's about the confidence used in answering them.

We got to New York and I had to join the queue. One of the traffic officers saw me, took my passport, I guess he wanted to help, he asked the purpose of my visit, I said vacation and child birth. The man sharply returned my passport without saying anything. Na so I jejely remain for queue.
It got to my turn. I handed over my passport with my ticket in btw. D CBP officer sees that am still going to Buffalo (a city in New York).
He asked y Buffalo. Told hm my sister s dre.
Asked hw she got there. Told him transfer from the office as she was formerly in Washington.
Said okay.
Asked if I had foodstuffs. I said yes, I had garri and... he interrupts and ask if I v fish, I said yes bt deboned dried fish.
He says okay, tkes my fingerprints and stamps me in for 6 months and ask me to enjoy my stay.
To the glory of God. No document was asked for, my luggage wasn't checked, neither did he ask hw much I had on me or the purpose of my visit.

Left to claim my luggage and checked in for the last flight. For those coming into New York, it's pretty cold as snow s still falling.
Thank u all and sorry for the long post. Now waiting for baby to come.

Delta is partners with KLM and Airfrance, so sometimes Delta flights are routed through Amsterdam or Paris. You shouldn't have any issues, but you can call Delta directly if you'd rather go to Atlanta and not stop over in Europe.

Hello house
please assist.
While filling the ds-160 form for my husband, i mistakenly filled B1/B2 as visa type instead of B2. I have also made payment at the bank for same class. I just realised the mistake while trying to pick an appointment date for the interview. can i just chose B2 on the page for scheduling interview? please advise, i would appreciate a prompt response please.

@ Oolamie, looking at United Memorial Medical centre. They offer 60 percent discount for self pay includin doctor or mid wife fee as they have a medical practice under them. In all, fee for vaginal delivery for self pay is less than $5000.

Its in Batavia New York.

Hello house, just thought to give my own quota. Contacted a hospital in Ohio. here is their response.
Greetings from Patient Accounts,

In response to your recent inquiry regarding a normal vaginal delivery the estimated cost is $4,842.65.

If you are Self Pay without insurance we do offer a special pricing option. This must be paid in full prior to delivery.

24 hour normal vaginal delivery $2187.00
48 hour normal vaginal delivery $2670.00

These prices are for hospital charges only and do not include physician fees, anesthesia.

If you would like to discuss further please feel free to contact me at the number listed below.

Thank you for your interest in Mercy Medical Center.
