SportsDangote And Otedola Promises Super Eagles $75k (N27m) For Each Goal Henceforth by somebars(op): 12:53am On Jul 12, 2019
From: collinsuchendusblog.com

The Super Eagles of Nigeria have gotten a major boost in their 2019 African Cup of Nations campaign, as Nigerian billionaires, Aliko Dangote and Femi Otedola have pledged $75,000 for every goal scored in their remaining games.

The Super Eagles team had earlier gotten $75,000 from Aiteo Group, for the three goals scored in their 3-2 victory over Cameroon in the Round of 16. Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu gave each player $5,000, while Hosea Wells Okunbo, a businessman, promised $20,000 per player.

As they take on Algeria on Sunday in the Semi-Final Match of the 2019 AFCON, Dangote has promised $50,000 per goal, while Otedola pledged the sum of $25,000 for each goal scored.

From: collinsuchendusblog.com

The New York Supreme Court has ruled that Tupac Shakur's infamous breakup letter he wrote to Madonna while he was in prison should be auctioned off.

The court said that the letter now belongs to the auction company Gotta Have Rock and Roll and not the pop icon despite her protests for the letter not be sold.

The company obtained the letter from Madonna's former art consultant Darlene Lutz and they plan to auction it off to the highest bidder on July 17.

Shakur hand-wrote the three-page letter from prison in 1995 when he was 24. In it, he ends his relationship with Madonna, who was 37 at the time. He died the next year.

“I must apologize to you," he wrote. "Because like you said I haven’t been the kind of friend I know I am capable of being. Not because I am evil or because you weren’t worthy but at the risk of sounding overdramatic, the effects of racism make it difficult for a young black man to properly show affection for an older white woman.”

The memorabilia company estimates the letter will sell for up to $300,000. The minimum bid is $100,000.

'Jesus drank wine, there is nothing like non-alcoholic wine. If it does not have alcohol, it is not wine. It is grape juice', these were the words of Reno Omokri as he explained that drinking alchohol is not 'ungodly'.

He went on to explain that, 'I am a follower of Christ and I don't drink. It is a personal decision. However, drinking alcohol is NOT a sin, nor is it unGodly'.

Not only did Jesus drink wine, He also turned water to wine, ALCOHOLIC WINE, and in Matthew 26:29, He told us we would drink wine in God's Kingdom, also known as HEAVEN.

Furthermore, the ceremonial consumption of wine is part of Jewish religious rites. So don't let any Pentecostal or evangelical church or pastor put a burden on you that God has not put. DRINK, but don't get DRUNK

PoliticsAbubakar Ibrahim Joins Kogi Governorship Race by somebars(op): 10:54am On Jul 11, 2019
Abubakar Ibrahim, son of a former Kogi State Governor, Ibrahim Idris, will be challenging incumbent Governor Yahaya Bello in the November 16 Kogi governorship election.

Bello is seeking the ticket of the All Progressives Congress (APC) while Ibrahim is chasing the ticket of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP). The two contenders obtained their nomination documents at the Abuja national headquarters of their parties yesterday.

After collecting his forms, Bello declared that those accusing him of non-performance have not visited Kogi State. Ibrahim, however, countered the governor, saying that Bello has become a huge liability to the people in the three and half years of his administration. Ibrahim, who said the governor’s record of poor performance is unprecedented in the country, declared that this informed his decision to challenge Bello at the poll.

Sports"My Family Have Something Against Cameroon" — Jay Jay Okocha by somebars(op): 7:25am On Jul 07, 2019
From: collinsuchendusblog.com

Former Super Eagles captain, Austin ‘Jay Jay’ Okocha delved into memory lane as his cousin Alex Iwobi fired home the winning goal of their round of 16 clash against Cameroon yesterday in Alexandria, Egypt.

At the 2004 AFCON in Tunisia, Okocha denied Cameroon the chance to win a third straight title with a well taken free kick from outside the box after John Utaka had drawn level. Perhaps history repeated itself as Iwobi latched on to an Odion Ighalo pass to kill off the Indomitable Lions’ quest to win a back-to-back title.

“I scored the winning goal against Cameroon in 2004. And yesterday, Iwobi got the winning goal. We have something against Cameroon in the family,” said Okocha jokingly.

“Iwobi’s goal was the moment I enjoyed most. The Eagles needed the winning the goal and they went out for it… kudos to the team.

“ The key was staying focused and knowing that they have to get back to the game.

“There is more improvement in the team are getting better with every game. I’m delighted with the outcome and this is a sign of better things to come.”

EducationCourt Orders Lagos State University (LASU) To Pay Demoted Professor N100 Million by somebars(op): 7:03am On Jul 07, 2019
From: collinsuchendusblog.com

The demotion of a Nigerian academic, in 2016, by the Lagos State University, Ojo, was an exercise in nullity, the National Industrial Court has ruled.
The court ordered that N100 million be paid to the lecturer as damages.
Olatunji Abanikanda, an expert in animal breeding and genetics, had his professorial appointment invalidated by the LASU management following a decision taken by the school’s governing council in August 2016.
He was demoted to the rank of a senior lecturer. His colleagues under the lecturers’ union, ASUU, had petitioned the council alleging Mr Abanikanda’s 2012 professorial appointment did not follow due process.
He was accused of skipping the rank of the associate professor before full professorship.
An ad hoc investigative committee had advised the council to demote Mr Abanikanda.
The case
Following the university’s action, Mr Abanikanda approached the Lagos division of the industrial court, asking the court to quash the decision that invalidated his professorial appointment. He, then, sought that he should be reinstated to professorial rank and that his appropriate entitlements from July 14, 2016, be paid.
He also sought an order that N100 million be paid to him as damages by the university.
In the court papers seen by PREMIUM TIMES, he stated that his appointment was done by the university following the recommendation of the Appointment and Promotions (academic) Committee (APC).
But the ad hoc committee that recommended his demotion was lacked powers to do so, he submitted.
The university, however, in their defence, submitted that they acted right having been advised by the ad hoc committee.
They further stated that Mr Abanokanda could not tender evidence he was confirmed an associate professor before applying for professorial rank in line with the relevant rules guiding senior academic staff in the university.
Judgement
The judge, Benedict Kanyib, according to the judgement seen by PREMIUM TIMES, noted that two ad hoc committees were set up by the council in succession. The first such committee advised the ASUU’s petition against Mr Abanikanda be referred to APC.
But dissatisfied, the council constituted another committee, which, then, recommended the withdrawal of the professorial appointment, the judge further noted.
He, then, upheld the argument of Mr Abanikanda that the second ad hoc committee, that recommended his demotion, had no such power. Instead, the judge stated, only the APC could make such a recommendation.
On the point that Mr Abanikanda skipped a rank and, so, should not have been made a professor, the judge, Mr Kanyib, held: “A critical issue, not really addressed by the defendants, is whether the claimant has the qualification(s) needed to be a full Professor aside from the three years on a cadre requirement.
“The way clause 9.0(D) is couched, the three-year maturation period can be by-passed and a Senior Lecturer appointed to full Professor so long as other qualifications for being a full Professor are met. Where this is the case, such appointment cannot be invalidated on the sole ground of not complying with the maturation period of three years. I must point out that the claimant was appointed full Professor, not promoted to that rank.
“The talk of “apply and be promoted” only shows a gross misunderstanding of the true import of clause 9.0(D) by the defendants. In contrast to clause 9.0(D), clauses 8.8 and 10.0 of LASU Conditions of Service and the provisions of the Senate Approved Minimum Standard for Appointments and Promotions of Academic Staff make provision for appointment to Professorial cadre i.e. Associate Professor and Professor contrary to the thinking of the defendants.”
The judge, consequently, ordered the university to reinstate Mr Abanikanda’s professorial appointment, pay him N100 million as damages and that his entitlements from July 14, 2016, be paid to him.
No action yet
The judgement was delivered on June 18 in Lagos.
Commenting for this report, Mr Abanikanda said he had not heard from the university weeks after the judgement was delivered.
“The university’s legal unit was fully represented and my solicitor has officially communicated the judgement to the university,” he told PREMIUM TIMES on Saturday morning from the United States where he said he is for a conference. “I have not heard from them but can’t say if they have done anything in the past days that I have not been around.”
Asked if he was optimistic that LASU would comply with the judgement, he said he expected compliance, noting that the Vice Chancellor, Olanrewaju Fagbohun, is a senior lawyer.
He said he was not bothered by his problem with the school. “I am in the U.S. for a conference that starts on Monday and I have been attending (this conference) with a PhD for years.”
He joined LASU 20 years ago – four years after he had earned his doctoral degree, he said.
“Not aware”
The spokesperson for the school, Ademola Adekoya, told PREMIUM TIMES on Saturday morning that “I am not aware” such judgement was delivered. He promised to contact us as soon as he is briefed.
He said the university had a reputation for complying with court rulings, he replied: “Of course, LASU is a law-abiding institution. We’ll comply. Why not? Except, of course, there is a room for appeal,” he said.
Mr Abanikanda told PREMIUM TIMES his being “anti-strike” caused his disagreement with his colleagues and, consequently, the petition against him.

A follower who accused actress Daniella Okeke of eating poo in Dubai, has received more than he bargained for after the actress dragged him in the mud.

While reacting to a post the actress posted on her social media timeline on lowering one’s self-esteem, the followers identified as @instaseo9ja on Instagram asked if eating poo in Dubai doesn’t lower her self-esteem.

The actress who wouldn’t have that slammed the follower and wished upon him untimely death.

See her post:

Anything that costs you ur self esteem costs too much. If you ve to reduce urself to be part of anything, you ve declared urself lower than things and they will take what you offer. #daniellaokeke #Godovereverything

Nigerians on social media however took side with the follower and questioned the actress over her swift reaction. Many believed she was guilty of the accusation and that was the reason why she took it so personal with the accuser.

From: collinsuchendusblog.com

The Nigeria Police Force has reacted to a viral photo of embattled Senator Elisha Abbo purportedly having a conversation with the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Mohammed Adamu. Abbo.

Some Nigerians dug the photo out and released it online even as the senator is currently being investigated for assaulting a nursing mother in an Abuja intimacy gadget. The release of the picture fuelled suspicion that the lawmaker was an associate of the IGP whose officer was in the shop while Abbo assaulted the woman.

However in a statement released on Thursday July 4th, the Nigeria Police Force said the picture was taken in Governor Nasir El-Rufai’s office when the IGP paid the governor a courtesy visit during a security meeting with northern traditional rulers in Kaduna on April 30.

“Whatever may be the motive behind the display of the picture at the time when the senator is under investigation, be it known that the IGP, a public servant, interacts with every Nigerian, irrespective of their status, political leaning, tribe or religion, etc. in the course of discharging his duties as the number one cop of the nation.

“The public should therefore disregard the obviously mischievous intentions of the author of the post,” the police statement read

La Liga will be getting its first female referee next season, as confirmed by the Spanish Football Federation on Tuesday. This is coming 12 years after female referee, Marisa Villa, who was named in La Liga's list in 2007 did not pass the physical tests required to officiate a match.

32-year-old assistant referee, Guadalupe Porras Ayuso, who will now become the first woman ever to officiate in the league, has worked in Segunda, the men's second division, for two seasons and before that officiated for eight seasons in Segunda B, the third division in Spain.

"The assistant referee will be the first woman to debut in the top flight," the RFEF said in a statement.

It is also speculated that her elevation will give the much needed boost to for gender equality in Spanish football, following the year long unprecedented interest in the women's game.
