Business / Re: Compare Nigeria's Naira To Other African currencie and Be Shocked At The Result. by somegirl1: 7:46pm On Oct 15, 2017
Freetech:
I think you need to understand dynamics of economy of Nations. Production determined the strength of currency of any country. Nigeria economic production is currently at its lowest ebb because of the problem with crude price. Note, this is our major production.

Any country that find herself in this type of situation must devalue her currency to encourage exportation and discourage importation. Production to meet local need and for export will increase.

In 2007 - 2009 both us and Britain devalue their currency more than 3 time because of recession. Even Ghana you put here had to divide their currency by 1000 to have current value

Finally, this have nothing to do with the quality of life in the country but to encourage production. TURKISH LIRA. IS THE MOST USELESS CURRENCY IN THE WORLD BUT TURKEY HAVE BETTER ECONOMY AND QUALITY OF LIFE THAN ANY OF AFRICAN COUNTRY UP THERE.

The little gain we have in non oil export and rice production wouldn't have Bern NC possible without the ddevaluation.

The old Turkish Lira you're referring to has been obsolote for over 12yrs. The New Turkish Lira (YTL) is equivalent to around 98 Naira.

Nice analysis but what do you think is the problem with Nigeria going by the fact that it is not the only ethnically, religiously diverse country in the world?

Don't you think it is more of leadership than tribalism considering the fact that the leaders are always united in their looting while the masses are the ones singing the ethnic division songs..

Diversity can be a good and bad thing. In Nigeria's case it's the latter.
There will be no progress if the status quo is maintained. I think disintegration (my personal preference is a North/ South split to begin with) and/ or devolution, would be a step in the right direction.
Until then we will continue to go round in circles, supporting criminals because we're just happy to have our ethnic group or a related group represented in government.
Devolution would foster (healthy) competition among the regions.
Where there's no "foreigner" to shift blame to, Nigerians would be forced to hold their tribesmen to account.

Ghana did not disintegrate to reach here

Ghana did not restructure to reach here

Ghana operates no state police

Ghana operates no resource control

Ghana is also multi ethnic/religious.

What Ghana did was to pursue good leadership and eliminate corrupt officials and tendencies regardless of ethnicity.....

Nnamdi Kanu is an ethnic jingoist.

Ghana is a small country, around a quarter and a sixth the size of Nigeria in landmass and population respectively; much easier to administer.

Its ethnic groups are more closely related. They embraced a common language and unanimously agreed to change the country name, a residue of colonialism, from Gold Coast to Ghana. Something Nigerians can/ will never do. Even the Bible says two can't work together unless they agree.

Its religion ratio is 3:1 which allows for relative peace, as opposed to Nigeria's 1:1, a recipe for disaster.

Ghana has no need to disintegrate or restructure but if the need arose, I'm sure grievances would be addressed in a civilised manner.

I meant literally. I don't like bananas, neither do I like strawberries unless in smoothies. The fact that I like neither should not get in the way of objectivity.

Nwanne, Ogadimma. They cant eat their cake and have it. We love them and tried to make them reason with us to make Nigeria the better place like it ought to be. But they chose to always make the north rule since they support that side.

I dont blame them tho, Its never easy to convince a monkey that strawberry is sweeter than banana.

I believe this "Key" is your own assumption. Our worst or 2nd best City would not be a "Key" city within the context of this ranking except otherwise another city in Nigeria made that 140 list. This is just a simple logic. Do you have a complete list that ranked only just 140 Cities as the only key cities of the world? Please share.
Just as your assumption that the "Best" cities were assessed was plucked out of thin air

So Lagos being our best city scored 139? That's fair. Although, I do not agree with that ranking. It must be noted that there are 195 countries and over 4400 cities in the world. Logically, if Lagos represent Nigeria and ranked 139th....It is really not a bad score.
Key not best.

Many people can not see logic in what they read.

140 best cities were selected and Lagos was ranked 139th which is not bad at all.

Therefore, Lagos is one of the best place to live on earth.

Simple logic.

You've manufactured the emboldened. Where did you get 'best' from? Looks more like a list of key cities in each countries .

Incorrect and unnecessary use of the struck out word.

Don't write any exam in advance. Find universities you have a good chance of being accepted into first.and then check the language test requirement(s) and minimum scores for each institution

Note that there are two types of IELTS - General Training and Academic. You need the latter for uni applications.
