Lol. Just pray and hope you don't have any issues to be resolved by the legal system in Nigeria. Do you have confidence in the legal system in the country to resolve any conflict fairly? From the police to judges to senators making laws, we all know it's a shitshow. Unfortunately, it's the only recourse we have. Nigerians typically resort to the court as a last option after all other alternatives have been exhausted.

To be fair to the accused, the court option was explored and nothing came out of it. Since that's the prevailing power to determine guilt and innocence in the land, the accused has all the right to continue his business. If I was the accused, I'll find out who my accusers are and sue them for defamation, libel, slander and whatever charges that'll make them cease and desist.

With that said, if I was a potential client, seeing the trails of complaints, legal cases and alleged fraud on a national newspaper, I'd be wary of doing business with anybody with this unimpressive resume. At the end of day, to each their own and risk tolerance.
Without boasting or sounding too confident. You cant defraud me and still be reachable without me nailing you big time. As long as i have enough evidence to prove that you defrauded me. You will hang.

So if he stole from you, get the evidence of theft and sue him to court.

Fraudsters are going to jail daily, let's stop giving excuses. Rather than cry online that someone stole from you, put him behind bars if he truly stole from you as long as he's reachable.

Enough said.
PropertiesRe: General Topic Thread-To Discuss Anything And Everything in Building Construction by somehow: 1:29pm On Mar 26, 2021
Simple logical questions though.

How can someone defraud you and still be reachable, available, tracabale, did not disappear. Post his pictures and address, numbers everywhere online..

Is the person a spirit that you can't arrest or sue to court?

Are you saying the person is so powerful that you can't deal with personally and you're a Nigerian?

Is the person so powerful that all the people he is said to have defrauded can't come together to persecute him legally?

Do you not have a strong case against him that can make him pay heavily?

Lets reason logically or am I the illogical person here?

Just thinking aloud.

Best Practices for Building Roof for Solar in Nigeria

In the world today we have seen a rise in the use of solar energy due to its reduction on cost of purchasing energy, and a cleaner self owned power production for most a duration of 25 – 30 years of the solar panel 100 to 80 percent drop in power production, meaning if you are in your 30’s now and you decide to go solar, you will use this system till you get to your 50’s and at that time for a good solar panel choice you can be sure it would have only reduced efficiency by at most 20%, that is amazing.

Lets go right into the discussion on building roof systems for your solar panels

Back in the day is when people build roofs for the purpose of protecting their houses against rain, sun rays, security, luxury and beauty, architectural great designs, even though all this are good reasons to build roofs they are fast fading away for the need of efficient roofing systems, to build not just to cover the house but to serve as energy for the entire house!, and this is amazing, that a house can use its roof to generate as much energy required to power appliances, is the real deal.

Now the new system of building for a forward thinking building or home owner will prioritize or implement best, calculated effort to build roofs to get the maximum power from the free gift God Almighty gave us from His Kingdom which was situated below His Heaven to Shine on both the good and the evil, enabling all to partake of His Grace in the very words of the greatest philosopher Jesus Christ.

Factors to be considered before building your roof or at least if your roof as been built, factors to consider to maximize what you have.

Orientation
Shade
Material
Age
Size
Pitch
In this post I will include only 3 of this then continue in the later post

Orientation: This is one of the most important point you would need to know, but before we talk about this you need to be educated about the way the way the earth revolves around the sun , ( or better we say sun moves )
Nigeria’s Average daylight is about 11hrs and sun hours is about 8 hours or more for northern states, meaning if there must be a place designed to operate solely for solar power generation its our blessed nation, please note that daylight is highly different from sunlight, daylight is just when the day is bright enough for movement and the sun is not really up yet, and that’s always around 6am to 5pm daily and in the midst is the sunlight when the sun is up proper, obviously you may have understood the difference by now, those windy and cloudy days are examples of normal daylight, even though that can also charge your batteries and power your home its not as significant or powerful as when the sun is really up. though if calculated correctly you can get the best from your daylight too.

for the purpose of this article you lets narrow down on sunlight hours, the sun hours are really from 9am – 5pm, and most sunny times are near the noon and after noon,

looking at the image above if the sun moves from east to west guess where is best to be the widest part of your roof?, obviously the south is the best so as the sun moves it always shines on your solar panels for best efficiency, and if you already have your widest place south-east its not a bad deal as such only that it may reduce your energy harvest from the sun about 10-20%, even though south facing solar panels are the best the second to it is south-west facing solar panels, you would notice the sun moves in the morning from the west and around 12noon – 5pm to the west meaning it can as well harvest a lot energy too.

please note that it doesn’t mean southwest facing solar panels wont get any energy as at 8am-12noon, it certainly will but not as much as a south facing solar panel

In the subsequent post you will get to know about other considerations before building your roof such as Pitch, Shade, Material, Age, Size.

Yes you can use solar inverter to power AC but the size rating must be between 10-15KVA. The load consumption of the conventional AC is high but there are some low power consumption AC called inverter AC..

You will break the bank to have solar power for 2-3 ACs, especially if you are gonna run them at night too.

2 ACs will require something around 8Kva inverter and that's roughly about 1.5M for a good one, you will require about 10,000W panels too (30 panels X 300/350W), at about 60k for a good panel, that about 1.8M. You will need nothing less than 40kwh of battery to use 2 ACs at night and that's huge! Somewhere around 12-15M for Li-ion! These figures are not exact, just about but you can see how you have to break the bank, a good bank.
Adding the 3rd AC will make it worse, it is doable if you can afford it.

You still need that energy audit before moving to design for your need.

I have no Idea of the wattage of the ACs.
What KVA generator would power the appliances?
That would give you the Idea of the inverter capacity to use and the number of batteries.
You may spend close to N1.5 m or more for that but I guess the amount is relative in terms of cost.
That may be breaking the bank for people like us but definitely a pocket change for our ogas here.
With my layman idea, I know you would definitely need more than 3 KVA inverter and more than 400 ah batteries.
So let's say like 5KVA inverter and like 600 maH batteries can comfortably power a 4-5 bedroom duplex? (Not like every appliances would be active at once.) I actually meant solar panels.

Regardless of your load and energy consumption, the essence of a very good smarthome design is to control energy usage through a variety of smart-home energy-saving strategies.

You need systems that can turn appliances off completely when not in use, eliminating the energy drain from idling appliances.

For instance, my security lights automatically come on at 7pm and is turned off at 6:30am every day even when I’m not in town thus conserving energy.

Years back, I have programmable thermostats on my power-hungry devices. Today, I realize that a well configured smart thermostat will do a better job that the manual ones as it’ll take some of the guesswork out and enabling the device's smarts to proactively manage energy use.

More importantly, I’m able to save more on my energy bills because my house is designed to conserve energy (there are wraparound terraces and covered porch allowing fresh air and sunlight to pour into my very spacious interior). This is a different ball game for those who are trying to play catch up.
What kind of smart home devices do you use and what do they handle in your home specifically?

How spacious are the spaces in your home feet wise?

Can solar power be used to power ACs (2-3) without having to break the bank?

To use 2-3 ACs, only 2-4 bulbs and maybe 1 TV would be on..

I wrote them a letter telling them to disconnect me from their grid and stop billing me with immediate effect and I told them I would not be responsible for any bill they brought henceforth.
I took it to their head office and made sure they stamped the acknowledgement copy.
I earlier paid for prepaid meter since may last year but they said the payment reflected in june when there was a N10000 increment and I was supposed to pay the difference but they didn't give me an account to pay the difference because they weren't collecting any payment due to the government meter scheme abi fraud.
Anyways, I have the copy of my letter with me and I have no intention of paying any money they bring but I would collect the meter for collecting sake because it has already been paid for.
I have no plans of using their light any longer.
Even during serious rains, the solar isn't really bad. It would still charge after the rain although not fast. And 3 hours generator would charge it fully to last another 2 days depending on the battery capacity.
Great!

Giving the cost won't add any value due to devaluation/inflation and the fact that I designed the system for my need. I am not into solar energy business, just an enthusiast. Below are the main ingredients used for the system.
- Victron Energy Inverter
- BYD B-BOX 13.8KWH 48V Lithium Ion battery.
- 300W LG solar panels
- Victron Energy charge controller
There is a generator, only as backup for the "rainy days".

The system handles everything in the house, including inverter ACs, but energy management is critical with solar system. I use only 6W LED bulbs, freezer programmed to go off at night, etc. Occasional use of water heater and zero use of electric iron. Use of water pump and washing machine during the day only (about twice a week max).

The most important item you need to focus on is the design of a system that will serve your NEED. Please do not spend a kobo without having in your hands a good design that you understand; to get into the design phase, you must conduct an energy audit. Do not buy those systems being sold with claims on capacity and the load they can carry. A bad experience may scar you and chase you away from solar energy.
Energy audit will show you what you currently consume, and enable you trim down your requirements. Solar energy can be expensive if you don't control your use!
With an energy audit, you have the foundation laid out and will know what capacity you want to design for. And you can play around the components based on affordability and other factors, there are many inverters, panels, and batteries out there. Don't do cheap, you will get whatever you pay for.
I never liked lead acid batteries, whether sealed or wet; while wet is better, it's maintenance can be an issue and may not last 3 to 5 years depending on the source. You should not discharge lead acid batteries below 50% so they don't start failing.
Li-ion batteries are expensive but basically worry-free and will allow you discharge down to 10% of battery capacity (90% DoD). They also last longest!

Just wanted to share a high level summary of the basics, there's a well crafted and concise submission on setting out with solar system at Kobocity. You should go read it.

Whatever you do, don't commit funds into it until you understand what you want to achieve. It is an investment and should be treated as one, also make sure to work with someone that has good referees.

Best of luck.
Thanks
I will do an energy audit for a start.
