hedonido: I don't suffer fools gladly, so I would say without due respect that you're quite stupid. How will NIN prevent any crime in a clueless and useless country like Nigeria where all institutions of government are incompetent?
And I don't want any of you fools to mention Internet fraud or any rubbish related to it. That's not the main problem Nigerians are dealing with.
How will your useless NIN help prevent banditry, kidnappings, Fulani herdsmen mass killings and Boko Haram terrorism? How exactly? Finding sane people on nairaland and Nigeria at large is quite difficult than I thought. I am not interested in the mud, you can have it to yourself. Have a nice day. |

kevoh: Answering a question with another question is rude. Those before him didn't do anything with NIN, we have heard.
Now tell us how does Pantami's removal/resignation affect the NIN registration that's already in progress? Buhari can easily replace him with another Northern Muslim preferably from Katsina to continue. So why does his resignation/removal based on his terrorism links jeopardize the NIN registration that is in progress already? It's not rude, it's a polite way to respond to a question you know within yourself is self explanatory. The question is not about replacing him, the question is 'Those before him didn't do 10% of what he did and doing and may likely not see another with a steel mind that can weather all these attacks we have seen for weeks now". Getting this identity issue right means those who always comit various crimes with lack of a true national ID will find it difficult to operate. Aren't you tired of "herdsmen killed this and that" "Unknown gunmen did this and that"? Let him finish this, he won't be there forever, then you can cut off his head for whatever 'crimes' you think he must have committed before getting picked as the NCC boss. Last from me, how come we in Nigeria are so good with attacking those getting things right in Nigeria? You remember Bart Nnaji that was about to get the power issue right? Do you know they did this same thing to him just to get him off the position? Have you asked why? If you don't see reason in what I have said, just let everyone hold his or her part of the stick. Happy Sunday. |

AreaFada2: Well, today Nigeria means Niger Area. Niger is from Nigro meaning Black.
Nigeria = Black Area. The British gave it to us. So no wonder even NEPA gives us blackness.
Countries like Ghana changed from Gold Coast, Upper Volta to Burkina Faso, Dahomey sought permission of Oba of Benin to rename their country Republic of Benin. But Giant of Africa could not change from Niggar area.
At least in Benin, there is Ivbiedo (plural for Edo people) or Edo that people call themselves. Nigeria has no such indigenous alternative. At least there was nothing like Nigeria before it was named unlike the Igodomigodo. |

Even when they (Fulani's ) confess to the crimes did you ever see them behind bars? If they know their attackers, the press won't say "alleged". How come only herdsmen now comit crimes? What happened to other criminals we have known and heard all these years? They are now believers? |

AreaFada2: The bolded is only partly correct. The Portuguese called it Beny by 1473. By 1553 when the British came they called it Benin. Actually it was coastal subjects in Delta who told the Portuguese that the overload/King of Ubini was in the interior. By the 1470s, the former tentative name Ubini had been replaced by Edo decades earlier. It was renamed Edo in 1440 by Oba Ewuare I to honour Edo, a brave executed servant who had saved his life as a prince because the tussle for the crown had turned deadly. Fact is Ubini or Ile-Ubini was never really accepted by Benin people as a name. It was a name outsiders called Igodomigodo. Today, Urhobo call Benin Aka, Igbo call it Idu, etc. Although both have known good historical reasons to refer to Benin as Aka and Idu but Benin/Edo people do not call themselves such. Yoruba even call it Ado.
Idu was the founder of Edo/Benin nation. Igodomigodo was the real first name Edo/Benin called themselves. The Second self-given name (by Oba Ewuare I) was Edo. Ubini/Beny/Benin or whatever variations was NOT given to Igodo/Edo people by themselves and thus never used in Edo Language. There is no Ovbie Benin or Ovbie Bini. It is Ovbiedo. It was previously Ovbie Igodo. Since Benin became known worldwide as an Empire, for easy recognition sake, Benin is preferred, not Bini. None of the two is indigenous to Edo people anyway.
I hope this clarifies it better. So the original name is Igodomigodo and outsiders came to give us a name which we gladly accepted? Africans! Who did this to us? |

Goldeno: This is just the common sense.
it is unfortunate that we share a country with morons. this current crop are the most senseless sheeps, they live and Die by propaganda.
Farmers herders conflict has been since time immemorial. This was our chance to solve it amicably once and for all because we have a Fulani president whose decision will be adhered to by both parties, but they've used propaganda to derail every process.
now every criminal is a Fulani, they've successfully created cover identity for criminals, making them impossible to apprehend.
all our security operatives will do is chase thin air since they won't find any evidence because they've been made to look at wrong directions. Very sickening. |

AreaFada2: Actually Benins are called Edo. I still wonder why Edo was chosen as name of the State. May be it was politics, maybe calling it Benin State would imply Oba Benin as the only monarch.
People of Edo South do not call themselves Benin (Bini that is totally wrong by the way as the palace has made clear many times). Since at least 1440 Edo South people have called themselves Edo. Benin City it was was called Oredo. The Europeans used Benin Kingdom or Benin Empire, Benin was for their convenience. In reality, Benin State should have been used because it covers far more people than people of Edo South. Before 1991, if you said "I am Edo or Ovbiedo", it meant you come from Edo South. Edo North and Central people didn't identify as Edo then. It might surprise many on Nairaland, as most were not born yet before 1991.
The other side of the coin is that knowingly or unknowingly, calling it Edo State actually narrows everyone to being from Edo South. So you're saying the Europeans named it Benin? I don't get. And what is the language called? |

The press is causing more harm than good and also making the identities of most killers difficult to ascertaines with the way they mostly 'mask' perpetuators of violent act with their blanket branding.
Since it's very easy to tag every killings to herdsmen that are difficult to bring to book, other killers now go scot from under this banner.
You hardly see images or audios capturing these so called killers but they are always the first to be named.
I want to ask, who were carrying out all the killings prior to 2011- 2015?
Before then, most killings were never branded to be that of herdsmen, so what changed?
Did other killers suddenly repent or they migrated? |

diordaves: A flat roof MAY have serious issues with solar panels installation if the specifics are not followed. Solar panels are notorious in breaching the delicate dynamics of flat roof.
You MUST invest more to install the panels at an inclination (degree angle). See photo. If you install the panels flat bang on the roof as some would do on a pitch roof, this will cause water pooling and if you use less than 0.7mm sheets, there is a greater risk both your panels and roof may fail due to water pooling.
So make sure your contractors install at an angle just like the photo attached. Noted. Thank you |
