is this your objectivity?

Even with stats, you are saying "....Good stats that favor our narratives"

Like I said, it's okay to not like a player for whatever reason, but don't hide behind objectivity to defend it .

My own parting words
25 goals in 15 matches playing kid football in 4th division yet in the squad of a senioe national team?

The day we become more logical and objective in Nigeria, the better for our development.

do you know how many goals he has conceded in the last 20 games?

We can all see why the so called calamity Akpeyi is coming back to bench them.

I'm very particular with GK because its the part of the field I take interest in the most.

So how come his performance is better than our 2 national team GKs?

Does it not prove that the other 2 do not deserve to be there?

He was called back to boss the other 2.

its of no use being in the SE if you can't be called upon to fill a gap, it makes your presence useless and unworthy.

Would you say the below isn't worth mentioning as good output for a teenager that is just 20 this last August for his club-Fortuna Düsseldorf II?

Just read on please while remembering the dart of Good Goalkeepers for the SE.

In the summer of 2017, he left the youth team of
Bayer Leverkusen, where he has played since 2012 to join the youth team of Fortuna Düsseldorf.

On 14 October 2017, he made his professional debut in the Regionalliga West for Fortuna Düsseldorf II in a game against Wuppertaler SV , replacing the injured Max Schijns on the 43rd minute of the game.

He finished the 2017/2018 season with just 5 appearances, conceding just 1 goal and keeping 4 clean sheets, while his club finished the season in the 15th position with 36 points after 34 games, narrowly escaping relegation to Oberliga .

In the 2018/2019 season, he became the club regular goalkeeper. On 13 April 2019, he played his last match of the season, against SV Rödinghausen , after being replaced in goal for the next matches by goalkeeper Jannick Theissen.

He finished the season with 15 appearances, conceding 25 goals and keeping 3 clean sheets.

This time, his club did better than the previous season, finishing the season in the 12th position with 42 points after 34 games.

On 24 August 2019, he played his first match of the 2019/2020 season in a 2–1 home win against Schalke 04
we can only pick good stats that favor our narrative

even at that, conceding 25 goals in 15 matches is like almost 2 goals per game playing against kids he's older than
4th division!

in the last 20 matches he played, how many goals has he saved and conceded?

can you help us with that?

akpeyi came in because of uzoho injury...
you should know better....and moreover he was in the team before..

and for the save...if you watch the match...you'll see a clearance he made off to the field...which I will call an intelligent one.

it is not easy for a young lad of his nature to keep a clean sheet against an attacking team...south America champions.. in match the Brazilians see as a must win... we were at the receiving end self... they press us like foam
Why should a calamity be called back to bench the new 2nd and 3rd choices?

Can you answer for Safari?

haba how about the clearance he made against Brazil.... and the commanding presence he had over the goal post...

you could as well say.... he wasn't useful now.

for now...okoye is ahead of the duo to start...
if you know Rohr very well...it took uzoho 45 mins agonist Argentina to steal the starting shirt of the No. 1 goalie...

for now....okoye has no flaws for the super eagles....let's keep playing them.
forget the fact that he concede goals for his club sides..if we should go with that stats.

we could as well write off Southampton and udinese goal keepers....a lot of variables do play out at club sides..
So why did he recall Akpeyi?
why is Akpeyi starting ahead of the rest?

which clearance? which save did he make?
a link will suffice!

has Abubakar done well in two matches for Super Eagles? You have condemned Okoye for whatever reason and you are calling yourself objective. How many goals did Brazil score in the 45 minutes Okoye was at the post?

Some people will never like certain players for one reason or the other, and that's fine, just talk it with your chest and stop hiding behind a false sense of objectivity to discredit him.
He has done well with the dream team and recorded multiple saves, it's on twitter and youtube

Can you point me to any save made by Okoye in 45mins against Brazil?

Defenders saved him.

Your coach no even trust am against a lowly rated Benin when it came to real business!

What actually did it for OKOYE is the dart of good Goalkeepers over the years for NIGERIA since the retirement of Ike Shorunmu and the subsequent phasing out of ENYAMA VINCENT.

So, With him promising, there was the need to cap him immediately as the SE is the only level that can cage him for NIGERIA for life going by the fact that both Akpeyi and Ezenwa are already over 30 while being average always
Was he ever outstanding anywhere?

Am I missing something?

Uzoho was abandoned on the altar of AFCON experience, and club stats (which have proven to be quite unreliable in the national team)

Anybody that says Akpeyi had a good AFCON, is speaking out of ignorance. Akpeyi was bailed out by a solid defence
And the defense didn't bail out Ezenwa against Madagascar?

The defence stopped the various 1 on 1 Akpeyi saved?

Objectivity is a virtue.

I want to definitely disagree with you on this that Akpeyi had a good outing in Egypt ooo.

The reason we failed to make the finals was because of Akpeyi as we would have Won the tournament without any defeat actually and I always wondered why UZOHO wasn't used for the AFCON absolutely.
Very simple way to go about it

How many games did Akpeyi play
How many goals scored
how many saves

par the Mahrez freekick which would not have even entered if a careless foul was not committed, how many goal bound error did he commit?

I don't discard people based on sentiments, rather on their dos and not.

You can't use that positioning error to cancel other performance in the same tournament. Not done that way.

Uzoho played 3rd match
Also played in the worldcup as 1st choice

Ezenwa conceded 2 goals in the 3rd group match

All 3 GKs played in AFCON

Par the error, Akpeyi performed in every other game at the AFCON.
Uzoho did well in the 3rd placed match

Kbs468:
Well, No doubt about it that Akpeyi is the most in form at present, Hence the invitational extention.

Besides, I personally is never comfortable with Ezenwa between the sticks for NIGERIA anytime anyday and OKOYE not yet fully tested at the SE level, I think it not wise to take any risk on a rookie for such an important match like the AFCON QUALIFIERS certainly.

Save for UZOHO though
Uzoho ppassed through testing before getting to the SE, same can't be said of Okoye.

Okoye should be in Egypt being tested yet got a straight pass to the SE not because of past performance for both country and club. Makes no objective sense.

He should be in Egypt getting tested with the U23

Ezenwa inclusion in the SE remains the 8th wonders of the world. Fine he did well during the early days but have not improved since then because he's not playing club football and never been one of the best 10 in the league.

We have had numerous opportunities to test new hands but inviting these ones keep blocking way for new discovery. We have other names that are in higher leagues too performing better.

2 gks you can't trust in a competitive game is a no no for me.

so far so good in 2 matches, Abubakar has done well, currently being tested and he is from the NPFL..This is what Okoye should be doing if we are to entrust our SE goalpost to him.

The 45 minutes is it not one cap?

Does Akpeyi not have more caps than Ezenwa? Why can't he, by virtue of being senior to Ezenwa and Okoye, bench
them both?

You are even proving my point and you think your question is valid.

I don't even know why Kbs468 bothered to answer you.

Pending when Abubakar gets his own 45 minutes, Okoye will be ahead of him in the Super Eagles.
He answered because he's matured and understands the question perfectly.

Akpeyi is said to be bad for the eagles by alot of people on this thread and most don't want him in the SE again.

Alot also claim the league is not good enough to produce any good GK and that Ezenwa was the face of the NPFL.

Now the same "bad " Akpeyi is coming back to bench those he left behind plus his replacement, does that not ring a ball if you try to be objective in this matter?

Yes it is not all about who is better or not but for the fact that He has been at the Super Eagles before ABUBAKAR should he eventually get called up after NIGERIA might have put up a superlative performance in Tokyo 2020 Olympics paradventure NIGERIA qualify later on this month.

Alampasu, Udoh and co are lesser grade goalkeeping discoveries that couldn't make the cut in their chosen domain yet relative to ABUBAKAR now in U 23

We should also remember that DOSU JOSEPH would have automatically become Eagles number 1 except for his Car accident that proved otherwise.

So ABUBAKAR putting up an outstanding display at the OLYMPICS (Should we qualify) would push him straight into the Eagles set up definitely.

Meaning you rate Okoye because he has been invited to the SE not because he has been performing day in and out both for SE and Clubside?

You obviously can't point to any stats out there.

For Akpeyi to come back to bench both Ezenwa and Okoye says alot about the so called "better "
