sorry to say this....u know I have always talk this always with you... you barely consider other variables while putting up yr words...
many here including me was thinking Icon and Andrew had automatic ticket into the committee reason why I didn't bother vote him....
he initiated this and last year he planned it...I remember how he severally called up the committee members last year especially komekn who forgot his responsibilities....
Icon4s carried everything on his head....
if you are a good student of politics...you wi understand that one of the demerits of democracy is that the best does not always win some times.... the majority choice may not always be the best....
next time ask for an explanation prior you start accusing some members here of not practicing democracy we have little knowledge about..... I'm talking logic here not emotions. I have made my point and moved on. not like I've any stake here. Just stating the obvious. Let democracy be democracy. Made my point as usual. kapish. |

Hence the inability to vote as at when due just like you are doing now by responding to a post that it water had already past under the bridge as the issue of icon4s is a forgone conclusion
Again, I for one never knew anything about this thread during the voting period as I just recently came across this thread few days ago too.
So, I wouldn't have been expected to vote rather than liking the post for his inclusion actually That you got to the voting booth late does not mean the rules should be changed for you. gerrit |

omoola007: I don't have a lot of issues with the boarder closure as long as it is temporary and when reopened it is well equipped to follow the set out rules by Ecowas convention. There needs to be a round table too discourage Benin, Togo and Ghana from allowing indiscriminate importation of goods that are clearly meant to be dumped in the Nigerian Market. That goes for every good not just Rice and Cars. I am surprised that frozen chicken and Turkey has not come up in the discussion.
Since we are taking about boarder closure to enhance the local economy, I would like the presidency to consider taking his 15 day vacation in Ogudu or Tinapa or any other resort in Nigeria rather than taking our hard earned Fx to London to rest. That too is as bad as importing RICE. Mr. President took power as a sick man and thank God he has fully recovered after spending probably what Ogun and Enugu states spends on its entire population's healthcare needs in hospitals in London where his money is not needed. Yet in 5 years, they cannot build a clinic (Not even hospital) fit for followup treatment...... Thousands of Doctors have fled Nigeria for greener pastures because the government continues to fail them.
Mr. President rides in Mercedes S class (German) with Land Cruiser Escorts (Japan) Why can't Innoson or Peugeot be commissioned to build a presidential fleet that will use Nigerian labour to build thereby building skill and expertise. Once again you say I should eat local rice yet you are driving foreign car.
Customs boss is happy the boarder are closed good for him, but have we heard that anybody has been disciplined or sacked for allowing full container loads of contraband pass through the bad roads that lead into the country (I say bad roads to emphasise that nobody speedily sneaks a 40 ft container into Nigeria you have to go slow and pass several custom checkpoints where palms are greased to ease movement), somehow nobody customs has been arrested or persecuted for taking the bribes... Before Alhaji Alli takes the spec out of our eyes, please tell him he has a big broom in his eyes.
Leadership is by example. Same way your children imitate you. Give us something worthy of emulating and watch Nigeria become a real giant of Africa. Did they stop anyone from using sea and Land borders? Did they stop you from importing any brand of cars or shoes through these medium? |

you compare and contrast... you can't say or link the corruption in European or non Africa countries to the ones prevalent in Africa...
you can't get a complete perfect system...but still that's not enough reason to rest on guise that being that corruption exist everywhere let's continue to tolerate ours....
only a man who aim not to make progress think that way....
I doubt the cadet team coaches in England would engage in the measure of corruption practised by same coaches in Nigeria....

Bear in mind, logistical costs is a valid reason at times. It is the same way, when we had a friendly recently, only those based abroad were invited, because the friendly was abroad and NFF didn't want to spend money on travels.
There is nothing here to prove that there was malicious intent to his exclusion, and there is nothing here to even say with certainty, that Alaba was dropped because he wasn't a local player.

edi287: BAYERN Munich youngster, David Alaba, says he should have been playing representative football for Nigeria but was denied by stringent eligibility rule by football officials in the country.
Alaba, whose father is Nigerian and of Filipino mother, plays for Austrian national team but only after he has been turned down by Nigeria. The defender said he actually planned to join Nigeria's cadet team which won the 2007 FIFA World Youth Championship at South Korea but words reached him of his ineligibilty.
''I wanted to play for Nigeria but I must confess that there was no formal approach for me. A scout actually discussed that with me. I was excited because of my dad, he was a fan of Sunday Oliseh when Oliseh played for FC Koln. As a kid, I loved to watch Victor Agali in the jersey of Hansa Rostock,'' he told an Austrian news medium.
However, Alaba was shocked when told by the scout that Nigeria had plans mainly for its home-grown talents. '' I got the information that Nigeria will only consider those who were in the country perhaps because of travelling logistics and that is the end of that."
Source - Tribune NG Perhaps because of traveling logistics as stated in the article. |

The foreign coaches do theirs like it's part of the job. You can sometimes mistake it to be legal unlike the local coaches who do theirs without tact. Another point is that most Nigerians don't see the corruption in foreign coaches handling the national teams due to complex. komekn: The only difference between Nigerian coaches and the European ones.

Is this the purpose for the creation of youth tournaments by FIFA? tbaba1234: Nope, under 17 is for your best talents at that age group. What is the point of showcasing inferior talents if they will still not make it out.
If we get the right blend, there will still be enough local talents, who will make it. The national team is for your best talents.
To boost Grassroots football, improve your league. League teams must have proper academies. The league teams are supposed to expose their kids to local and international competitions. The best ones will get picked. |

U17 is for growing raw talents not for showcasing your best talents. Most of the U17 abroad of Nigerian heritage already play in established club sides (Either main team of their academies) but in Nigeria, most are in school, academies with no transition to main league football. U20 and 23 are better-off used for these set of players if they eventually remain consistent while mixing them up with the best we can unearth from the U17. If we don't do this, our youth football in Nigeria will go into oblivion because the foreign academies and clubs produce more. Even European countries mostly favor their home breed (Youth) first before foreign, it's not sentiments but the right thing to do to encourage your system! tbaba1234: Choose your best players home and abroad. If we can get top European prospects of Nigerian origin to pay for us as youths, we can boost their careers and there is a good chance that they will play for us in the future if they reach their potential
Our goal should be creating the best national team players in the future. Open the floor and let the players compete. Then, make your selection fairly and without bias. That way, we lay a good foundation for the future.
The best local lads will make it and so will the best foreign lads.
You boost your odds for future talents. There should be no room for sentiments. |
