I don't get you, I repeat winning away is not easy anywhere except you're better than your host. In Nigeria and in the NPFL, almost all the 20 clubs are at par, only like 3-4 can be said to be slightly ahead of the rest so you will need to double your efforts to win away in this scenario. How is this fact difficult to grasp? MetalJigsaw: Bro you and I know the truth about the usual occurrence in the league. Away teams hardly win games, this is a glaring fact and yum know it. So on what platform is he going to run? Hazard94: Donald Duke, the former governor of Cross River state says that he will contest for presidency in 2019 The former governor notes that he will start the process at the right time - Duke attributes the failure of governance on the lack of consequences for erring leaders Former Cross River state governor, Donald Duke, on Sunday night, January 14 in Abuja has said that he will contest to become Nigeria next president in the 2019 general elections, Vanguard reports. African Entertainment gathered that Duke, who declared his interest at the 3rd Mike Omotosho Annual Lecture titled, “Mellinials as Protagonists in Nation Building,” promised to kick-start the process at the right circumstances.
He said: “I am entitled to run for the presidency of this country. I am entitled to it. Only on right circumstances I will aspire for it. I don’t shy away from responsibility, only the right circumstance, I will aspire for presidency of this country. I have what it takes to be president of this country."
However the former governor, challenged the youths to fully participate in the electoral process by getting their Permanent Voters Cards (PVCs) and sensitising others ahead of 2019 general election. Duke said, “I hear young people say to me that why would there spend hours queuing and casting their votes when at the end their votes won’t count. And I tell that if their parents conceived them they never gave up on them considering the high mortality rate so why would there not take a chance in building this nation? “We had young leadership at one stage or the other. Even in our first republic, besides the likes of Awolowo, Tafawa Balewa, M. T. Mbu was in his twenties when he became a minister.
“Gowon was 30 when he became the head of state. It comes back to the disaster therein because most of them didn’t have experience in governance, which led us into war. We need the combination of both. “What I think we should be doing is to a government that is youth friendly to provide opportunities because we need to groom the next set of leadership.” The former governor, while rating the activities of the present administration, said, there was disconnection between President Muhammadu Buhari and his cabinet members, adding that: “The challenge we have today is the disconnect. That is the challenge of the governance today. Because if you speak with the folks in government, and I am been candid here. I think we should stop to deceive ourselves here and stop all these political correctness. There is disconnecting between the president and even the ministers.”
He attributed the failure of governance on the lack of consequences for erring leaders which has given room for incompetence. African Entertainment previously reported that Former Cross River state governor, Donald Duke, on Thursday, November 2, 2017, criticised President Muhammadu Buhari-led government for rejoicing over Nigeria’s ‘exit’ from recession.
This Day reports that Duke, who said he was broke, also advised the administration to work harder, stating that the masses were yet to feel the development. Duke sounded a bleak warning that all is not well in Nigeria, despite the September news that the country was out of recession.

Former Nigeria youth international Musa Yahaya yet again post another top class performance for the B team of FC Porto to power them to a 1-0 win away to Gil Vincente in the Portuguese second division.
Now fully settled in his new role as a right wing-back, the 20 year old played the entire duration of the game, which helped his team extend their lead at the top of the table by six points.
His performances has lead to talks about an imminent promotion to the first team, where he has trained severally the past few months while turning out for the B team. Yahaya has 14 appearance to his name this season for the B team of Porto, with three assists and a goal as well. A sign of how well he has progressed the past few months at the club.
Nicknamed the “Nigerian Neymar”, he has so far played twice the amount of games he played last season for same club at same level, following his transfer from fellow second division side Portimonense.
Porto will pay the balance of his transfer fee to Portimonense if he plays for the main team between now and his stay at the club, where he is presently the only Nigerian at the club.
The likes of Mikel Agu and Chidozie Awaziem are presently out on loan to Bursaspor and Nantes respectively, while two other Nigerians Isah Musa and Yaro Zakari are on trial at the club since the end of last year.
A decision on the duo who are currently turning out for third division side Vizela will most likely be communicated to them in the coming weeks according to sources who broke the news of their trail to Owngoalnigeria.com.

It takes a creative team to create 23 chances in a game, this alot have shyed away from. That they didn't score even though 3 hit woodwork shouldn't be used to rubbish them. I believe scoring will get corrected against their next opponent goldfish80: I was expecting this reaction from people here. Always waiting on the sidelines to knife home based players. I can only see a hand full of unbiased analysis from a few egg heads here.
Truth is that the team generally didn't have a poor game. They out played the Rwandans hands down. 24 shots average with 3 shots hitting the wood work is a lot. As a matter of fact, it will be be difficult to find a team who will shoot 23 times on goal cumulatively all tournament. I will be worried if the team struggled to create chances but that wasn't the case.
By the way, did anyone notice the long throws by the left back? Every throwing appeared to be a free kick. You could get the vibe the Rwandans were nervous whenever there was a throw in awarded against them. Hopefully the long throw tactics pays off sometime as the tournament went on.
I am quite optimistic about our chances in this tournament. If the team can get it right in front of goal, an unlucky team could be in for a real spanking. |

Difference is generalization. Same last season, Ubah went away to win 4:0, this same league (during the latter end of the season). We also had alot of draws and wins during the latter end of the season. You don't generalize. Pre-2010, we had more of winning at all cost but post 2010, it drastically reduced. Buy players, play well and win, worse you can get if you don't do any of these remain a draw. MetalJigsaw: So what's the, difference? |

Another assumption, you started watching the league prior to when I started? Well even if you started watching the league during the era of BBC lions, that still doesn't excuse your generalization. No league is blessed with perfect players but to paint the whole league bad doesn't tell well on your judgement. Humility017: you are talking as if the npfl league is new to me...I started watch this league prior you even started...I rememeber one of the match involving kano pillars...they were loosing that match by a goal nil...all of a sudden one of the specatators entered into the pitch..slapped the ref and asking him to award a penalty even when it was obvious that it wasn't an offense... the referee for fear of his life awarded a penalty and they equalised... that and many more i saw...made me lost faith in the league... You saw a match where a fan entered, slapped the ref and asked him to award a PK? Were you the fan or he was using a mic to say all these? Did you watch the match? Are you sure if the PKs are not worth it? What is wrong with awarding the PKs? Do you know how many PKs are awarded in la liga? Do you know how many PKs Ronaldo scores per season? Nothing wrong with scoring pks or getting awarded PKs as long as they are worth it. Nothing peculiar to our league alone, I know it's not smooth like the one in the major leagues but no matter how often its bad-mouthed every day and night, the bad-mouthing won't turn it good overnight. The same players we condemn here go abroad to replace other strikers abroad. Blame not the players but the game. Humility017: you didn't comprehend my post...at all.
I said..suppose they score two of that penalties they had against pillars... you talking as if what I typed was far from the truth...
this CHAN team is a reflection of the state of our league and nothing else.... you can try paint it white...but deep down we all know the truth....
the funny part is should the away team be leading even by 2 goals to nil...one demon will enter into at least one away team player to gift away penalties to the opponent...
one of the ways kano pillars were able to maintain 10 years unbeaten home record....even the nest European clubs doesn't boast of such record... |

What about the Nigerian NPFL players plying their games in the Turkish league and other leagues out there, aren't they scoring or what's with you guys and rubbishing anything NPFL? Using one game to judge a striker or even one tournament is single-minded to me. tbaba1234: Stephen Odey has only played 4 games in Switzerland. The jury is still out on him. Can we at least wait to see him perform?
The antecedents of the NPFl makes 2 late penalties within 6 minutes for the home team extremely suspicious. We had several last minute penalties awarded to home teams last year so the suspicion is not misplaced. We are hoping for a better league this year and better performance on the continent. |

It's good to always talk with facts and figures, did he score 8 pks in the just concluded season? Let's stop passing assumptions as fact or use it to form stereotype. Katsina only scored one goal from the PK BTW. That they fired blank in their first match doesn't mean they don't know how to score, firing blank isn't peculiar to Nigerian home based strikers alone. You doubt me? Ask slimani Vardy for sometimes. Morata Benzema etc Humility017: with some home advantage penalties let's say like 8 plus few goals any player can become the npfl highest goal scorer
let's take for instance...the last kano pillars draw wit kastina United....suppose one player takes those 2 penalties and he scores...that's 2 goals...wit over 15 home games left to play... If he can score same in like 10 home games...because it is always certain they will likely get some home advantage penalties...he will be in contention for the npfl highest goal scorer award. that's how the magic work bro |
