The Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr Chris Ngige, has ridiculed a member of House of Representatives, James Faleke.

Ngige who appeared before the Adhoc Committee of the House of Representatives to answer questions over an alleged breach of a presidential directive called Faleke “a small boy” and claimed he was “Tinubu’s mate”.

“I am at least seven years older than you. I’m sure.

“I am the same age as your mentor in Lagos, Asiwaju (Bola Ahmed Tinubu). And I was Governor with him at the same time. He was a Senator, I was a Senator.

“I am a two-time Minister, he is a two-time Minister.”

Faleke retorted: “But you won these elections very well?”

Nigeria’s House of Representatives has given the minister of Niger Delta Affairs Godswill Akpabio 48-hours to name the National Assembly members involved in the contracts awarded by Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).

The House of Reps committee probing the financial dealings and contracts in the NDDC also asked Akpabio to publish names, contracts, dates and amount of contracts awarded to members of the 9th National Assembly.

Speaker of the House of Representatives Femi Gbajabiamila noted that Akpabio must reveal the names of the lawmaker within 48-hours or risk the wrath of the House.

The Lagos State Government has approved the establishment of the State Cash Transfer Unit (SCTU) for the National Cash Transfer programme.

This was confirmed by the State Commissioner for Wealth Creation and Employment, Mrs. Yetunde Arobieke, on Thursday.

Arobieke gave details of the programme, while giving a recap of her ministry’s activities for the last one year, to commemorate Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s first anniversary, the Nation reports.

The federal government has unveiled the details of its plan to employ at 1,000 persons from each of the 774 local government areas in the country.

The initiative will start October 1 and each beneficiary will be paid N20,000 monthly to carry out public works, the minister of state for labour and employment, Festus Keyamo, announced Thursday.

Mr Keyamo provided more details of the programme, saying each state will have a committee to choose those to be employed and the jobs they will perform.

He said political leaders in all areas will be allowed to select not more than 10 per cent of the beneficiaries in their areas.

"Feminine" is a description for a set of characteristics relating to the energy of femininity in both men and women-general energetic traits such as 'equality', 'collaboration', 'flow', imperfection', circular, non linear etc. It's like describing one half of the plus versus the minus of a battery and more importantly- is not always related to gender as men embody the feminine equally.

Similarly, a "feminist" is also not related to gender-and is essentially a man or woman who believes in protecting the principals of the feminine (i.e. collaboration, flow, circularity, equality, process) These ways of being essentially compose an equal but *different* operating system of energy in comparison to masculine energy, and over the past couple thousands of years these principals have been disregarded if not outright abused by our patriarchal western culture. A feminist is a human who believes in the equality and functions of these energies and upholds them as needing defense from patriarchal abuse which is ubiquitous, and runs unconsciously in our society like a malware virus which hurts the whole and the individual. A "feminist" paradoxically makes society better for the masculine, because it revives and protects the other half of energies that the *healthy* masculine thrives on.

What’s more puzzling with these staggering facts is that the world isn’t lacking in female talent – especially when it comes to rock and roll.

It’s never too early or too late to learn an instrument. Whether they’re taking out their energy on the good ol’ pots and pans, need a hobby to keep them occupied after school, or they’ve been begging you for a drum kit, the answer is clear: drumming is probably on the table in the near future (figuratively, but maybe literally as well).

I welcome the African Union’s support for my call for a global ceasefire to fight the COVID-19 pandemic – an imperative that also reflects the AU’s 2020 theme: “Silencing the Guns: Creating Conducive Conditions for Africa’s Development.” Armed groups in Cameroon, Sudan and South Sudan have responded to the call and declared unilateral ceasefires. I implore other armed movements and governments in Africa to do likewise. I also welcome the support of African countries for my call for peace in the home, and an end to all forms of violence, including against women and girls.

About 20 African countries are scheduled to hold elections this year, some of which will be postponed due to the pandemic, with potential consequences for stability and peace. I urge African political actors to engage in inclusive and sustained political dialogue to ease tensions around elections and uphold democratic practices.

The United Nations has just issued a policy brief outlining the impacts of the pandemic on Africa. We are calling for debt relief and action to maintain food supplies, protect jobs and cushion the continent against lost income and export earnings. African countries, like everyone, everywhere, should also have quick, equal and affordable access to any eventual vaccine and treatment. African governments, like all those around the world, can also use this moment to shape new policies that bolster health systems, improve social protection and pursue climate-friendly pathways.
