Please I want my Igbo country men to contribute actively to this thread naaa. Let's discuss how we can salvage the igbos from this self inflicted slavery.

I state it here and now that the igbos on Nairaland should all bow their heads in shame becasy within a period of 6 years you have made almost all Nigerians hate the Igbo tribe more than we did just after the Civil war. On this site owned by a Yoruba a man you have radicalized hitherto friendly Yoruba's who are the only people that still tolerate you in Nigeria. Because of your rants, Igbos lost a commissioner seat in Lagos cabinet, because of you, Yoruba's want you out of Lagos.

The reason for my pity for igbos of late is due to the realization that Igbos are really trapped in a country where they are hated and they can't ascend the highest office in their country. I know most of the hateful igbos on this site live and work in alaigbo and they don't care about the effect of the hate rhetoric on normal peace loving igbos in other parts of Nigerians. Hateful igbos online need to apologise to the igbos in other parts of the Country for what you have put them through in this country.

The wounds of the Jonathan regime will take a long time to heal. Igbos should never have shown their contempt for Yoruba's due to how powerful the Yoruba's are in Nigeria.

I know I will be insulted and I am waiting.
what you want is a lengthy thread, not insults from IGBOS.... are you that little?

Scholes0, Google Translate for Igbo is severely wanting. A 5 year old Igbo-speaking child can give better translations than Google Translate for Igbo. I advise against using Google Translate to try to survive the streets of Igboland. haha

SonOfEl (nice name by the way), does Izugbe help with international and national recognition and representation? Yes. Should we credit it solely for such recognition and representation? No. Izugbe is simply the latest in a long line of orthographic/grammatical standards that has resulted from 400+ years of Igbo language studies. Izugbe is only just getting on its feet and can barely stand well-enough in Igboland, let alone shoulder the credit for national and international representation.

Like all other books and materials are published. The use of Izugbe is inconsequential here.

I don't get what this question is for. What does Ngwa have to do with Izugbe other than the fact that they are so-called "dialects" of "Igbo", though one is 100% artificial and the other has a historical, cultural and social significance.
nwanne haru ih'ahu ine kwu..... the positives of izugbe far outweighs its inadequacies. I listen to Igbo radio stations and TV stations, I have also read the Igbo bible and other materials.... I give it to izugbe big time.

Igbo is not the only language with those challenges you made mention of, the good news though, is that it is in working progress.

I still love my own local ubakala dialect in umuahia, a lot of its intonations and adjectives are different from izugbe. it does not mean though that the similarities are less either, infact, owerri/umuahia (particularly ohuhu side) igbo lends much to izugbe. izugbe is intelligible to all Igbo clans.

Igbo language schooling is trash and by extension the exams are meaningless. After all that schooling, Izugbe still fails to take hold and no well-meaning Igbo speaker even speaks it for what it is. Funny thing is that I write better Igbo Izugbe than most people I have seen who supposedly went to school for it. Shows how useless Igbo schooling truly is. At the end of the day, dialects will always remain supreme, though some may fall to oblivion due to linguistic convergence.
my dear you are wrong. if not for izugbe (central) Igbo, Igbo language would not have any national or international representation. how will Igbo books and other materials be published?

if izugbe had most of your ngwa dialect, would you have complained?

Activities of Fulani herdsmen worry South-East people

UMUAHIA-THE activities of Fulani herdsmen in some communities have become a source of great worry to the people of the South East zone. The people are worried that Fulani herdsmen have continued to kill, maim and rape women in most of the routes where they pass with their cattle for grazing wondering why the security agencies turn blind eyes to complaints from victims of robbery and rape committed by the suspected Fulani herdsmen.
Fulani-herdsman

Fulani-herdsman

Investigations by the South East Voice showed that the suspected Fulani herdsmen had maimed and killed villagers in Enugu, Ebonyi, Abia and Imo States among others in last few months without any of the security agencies arresting the culprits.

It was revealed that most of the herdsmen carry sophisticated weapons like AK 47 and Pump Action double –barreled riffles as they moved about with their cattle and could attack, rob or maim people at will.

In Abia State, there had been reports of deadly clashes between the herdsmen and communities in Ozuakoli, Bende Local Government Area and Ebem and Akanu in Ohafia and Umuchieze in Umunneochi areas among others. The clashes were occasioned by allegations by the rural farmers that the herdsmen take their cattle into their farms for grazing where they damage crops.

Also, in most of the places where the Fulani herdsmen had settled, they had always colonized such areas by claiming ownership, leading to violent clashes with the rural people. Besides farmlands in rural communities where the breeders illegally colonize as grazing grounds, the aggressive nature of the Fulani herdsmen is also said to be of great concern to the people.

A community leader in Ohafia, Chief Kalu Eze Kalu who spoke to South East Voice on the issue, expressed concern that the South East Governors’ Forum, SEGF,had not articulated any policy aimed at saving their people, despite what was happening in neighbouring states like Benue and Plateau and Nasarawa, where some tribes had been completely wiped out by the Fulani herdsmen, who claim ownership of lands in places where thy were strangers.

‘’They are always armed with dangerous weapons, including AK47 riffles, charms, daggers laced with poison and machetes and are ready to attack the farm owners at the least provocation. ‘’In Ozuakoli, a man popularly known in the areas as Ajambele was attacked last year when he confronted Fulani cattle breeders when he met their cattle destroying his farm in the Over Rail area of the community.

‘’The cattle breeder was said to have used a sharp dagger to rip open Ajambele’s stomach with his intestines gushing out. He was rushed to the hospital where he luckily survived. ‘’The cases of invasion of farmlands in Ebem and Akanu communities nearly resulted in bloodbath but for the wisdom of the leaders in the community who reported the matter to the authorities.

‘’The case was so serious that the Abia State government had to intervene to restrain the youths in the communities from retaliating. It set up a peace committee that quelled the then imminent crises,” he said and prayed the President-elect, General Muhammadu Buhari, rtd, to assist in bringing the alleged criminal activities of the Fulani herdsmen under control.

Anger trails Fulani herdsmen activities in Enugu. Also in Enugu State communities have been grumbling over the alleged inability of security agencies to curtail the criminal activities of suspected Fulani herdsmen who had robbed, raped and killed some of their victims apart from destroying their farm lands.

From Agbakwe, Ette, Akpakume, Ebe, Opanda, Nara, Ibagwa, Ukana, Oruku, Isi -Ogbo communities where activities of herdsmen have been pronounced, farmers in the area literally live in fear of engaging in farming activities as the herdsmen have forcefully acquired massive farm lands belonging to the people for grazing activities and settlement.

In Nkpologu community, Uzo – Uwani Local Government Area last December, suspected Fulani robbers killed one Veronica Ezugwu, 23, who hailed from Agum village in the area. Ezugwu was returning to the village for her traditional marriage and the New Year when she was shot inside a commercial bus by the suspected Fulani robbers who were operating in the area.

She later died at the Annunciation Hospital, Emene, Enugu where she was rushed to in January, having sustained severe gunshot wounds during the attack...

There's never been a need to debunk said myth that's what you need to understand. Every race every civilisation throughout history has had their outstanding individuals but that is all they are individuals adding to their community (usually said community is people from the same race or tribe). The Igbos can have the highest amount of intelligent people and the highest amount of retards it doesn't prove anything. All men are born equal!
I understand your standpoint perfectly. however, if you study all their high profile researches like that of Jensen et al, called bell curve, you would appreciate what chisala had done. sometimes you need to take the so called wise in their own craftiness.
