- Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu called on the government to stop the marginaliation against Igbos - He said they have invested a lot in the country than Yorubas and Hausas - The businessman said the region would fight anyone who wants to divide the country Prominent Igbo politician, Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, has declared that the Igbos were not interested in leaving Nigeria and would fight anyone who wants to do so. The Punch reports that Iwuanyanwu spoke at the National Unity summit organised by Arewa Ambassadors Congress of Nigeria in partnership with Youth Assembly of Nigeria. The businessman said Igbos were major stakeholders in Nigeria and would therefore fight anyone who wants to divide the country including the Arewa and Oduduwa people. He also spoke about the detention of Nnamdi Kanu describing it as unnecessary as he had not done anything wrong. “He (Kanu) only expressed his view. No arm was found in his possession. We are Biafrans and we are not ashamed to say it. Igbo have invested more in Nigeria than Arewa and Oduduwa. We want to be one Nigeria in fairness.” He said Igbo youths were only rebelling against the injustice happening against them in the country and not about leaving the country. “Biafra is not about secession. It is a name of a particular people in Nigeria from the South East. Therefore, it is not an offense to say that I am a Biafran. There was no victor, no vanquished after the civil war. I am impressed with Yakubu Gowon because he implemented all the agreements reached at the end of the Civil War. Igbo were not deprived at the end of the civil war. He called on Nigerian youths to “work for the growth of the country and shun tribal and religious sentiments” as “the country had the capacity to become one of the best countries in the world in the years to come.” Iwuanyanwu accused the federal government of marginalising the Igbos because they voted for the Peoples Democratic Party during the last election. https://www.naij.com/1106444-igbos-fight-divide-nigeria-iwuanyanwu.html |

HOW TO TRACE A MISSING OR STOLEN PHONE If you lose your mobile phone, you can trace it without going to the police. Most of us always fear that our phones may be stolen at any time. Each phone carries a unique IMEI no. i.e. International Mobile Equipment Identity No which can be used to track it anywhere in the world. This is how it works: 1. Dial *#06# from your mobile. 2. Your mobile phone shows a unique 15 digit. 3. Note down this number at a secure place except in your mobile phone itself as this is the number which will help trace your phone in case of theft. 4. Once stolen, just E-mail this 15 digit IMEI No. to cop@vsnl.net with details as stated below: Your name:____________________ Address:______________________ Phone model:_________________ Make:_________________________ Last used No.:_________________ E-mail for communication:_____ Missed date:___________________ IMEI No :_______________________ 5.Your Mobile will be traced within next 24 hours via a complex system of GPRS and internet, You will find where your hand set is being operated and the new user's No. will be sent to your email. 6. After this, you can inform the Police with the details you now have. PLEASE spread these fact

You are very excited about your brand - new Android OS phone and you are showing it off to your friends. In fact , you have started using it without doing anything . No , you are putting your phone at risk . There are certain changes you need to make to ensure it performs optimally . In line with this , here are seven things to do to keep it safe and secured. Download apps You can use the Google Play Store to download or you take your phone to a store where you can download all the apps. In this case , you do not need to exhaust your data on downloading . However , ensure that you download only relevant apps and from a secured website. Secure your device Your phone can be hacked or be infected by viruses . So , you need to get a very strong antivirus to secure your device . You can also activate pattern lock and PIN. You must do this because you will not be using your phone for texting and calling alone. Install and activate device manager The device manager will come in handy when your phone is stolen . The manager gives you unlimited access to everything on your phone online. This will help you wipe or lock a lost device. Customise your device The functions of your phone are in default mode; hence , you have to customise it . You should change the ringtone , message , and notification tones . In addition , you can kill the keypad tone and replace the wallpapers . This is one of the ways to personalise your phone. Search for software / apps updates Your phone usually comes loaded with all of the latest software but with frequent updates from the developers , your apps and software may not be current. Therefore , it won ’ t be a bad idea if you search for latest updates . Get a case / screen guard The case and screen guard are to protect the body of your phone and screen . It will help maintain the new look of your device. Fully charge your battery Your new phone is usually charged up to 50 per cent . But before you start using it , you should boost it to 100 per cent . Also , note that you should prevent it from fully discharging the battery ( letting it drop to zero per cent , thus forcing it to shut down) . This is the main cause of short battery life. http://punchng.com/seven-things-to-do-after-buying-an-android-phone/

By Dimeji Bankole ARI seeks to encourage debate and question orthodox views. Following a meeting with Dimeji Bankole in late 2016, we post this second guest blog by the former Speaker of Nigeria’s House of Representatives which draws on what was discussed. The first piece on reforming Nigeria from within is available here. Nigeria is in the midst of a demographic shift. Current estimates suggest that 60% of the population is under the age of 25, but over the next 30 years the balance between young and old is going to converge towards a fifty-fifty split. How are we going to afford to look after our pensioners or pay civil service basic salaries, when we cannot do so now? Source Nigeria’s current predicament is the manifestation of decisions taken 30 – 40 years ago. It follows that those taken today will manifest themselves in the next three or four decades. If we do not intervene now, the college graduate who is hawking water sachets on the street aged 30 is going to be doing the same thing at 60. This will lead to a total breakdown of the extended family structure in Nigeria, an increase in inequality and extreme poverty, the consequences of which are frightening to think about. The fallacy of free education in Nigeria Chief Obafemi Awolowo championed the policy of free education for Western Nigeria in the 1950s and 1960s. In 1979, he ran for the presidency and lost. However, his ideas about education were taken on board by the elected government in the region. The original policy was outstanding in scope and noble in its intentions but crassly implemented and executed. Education became a politically expedient issue, and education for the masses, notwithstanding the quality of that education, was to be pushed through. The requirement that students had to pass exams to qualify for free education was ignored and boys and girls aged ten or above were automatically entitled to secondary school. They would be enrolled despite the fact that maybe only one in five could read English. It is on record that students were coming top of their class with less than 40% in exams. Unity schools fought back against the pressure to lower education standards, but they only made up less than 1% of the total. The knock-on effect was that people sought to take advantage of free education and in doing so left behind craftsmanship, agriculture and other important facets of the local economy. The repercussions were not apparent right away and return to military rule in 1983 prevented analysis of the long-term social effects of this policy. Instead the military government went ahead and built state universities, which were to be populated by students from this defunct education system. Standards were lowered to ensure more students were accepted. Some were finishing secondary school and applying for university even though they could barely write. It also became commonplace to have someone else sit your exams for you. If a young man at 18 believes that he can get away with doing or obtaining something by such means, he will continue to do so as an adult. Individuals who went through Nigeria’s education system in the 1980s are now in their 40s and 50s. This generation are the ones running almost all the government agencies, banks, civil service and businesses. The mindset of entitlement still permeates how they act. This pattern of behaviour is now evident in the next generation who do not see the value of hard work and take things for granted. We need to shift this way of thinking, if we are to solve the problems that lie in wait for Nigeria. A new sort of federal character Tackling the immediate economic and political challenges is important, but we also need to go back and start rebuilding some of these education structures if we are to create citizens with the right kind of character and work ethic. In Japan, teachers are some of the highest paid and respected public sector workers. This used to be the case in Nigeria. Today, many of our teachers are those who did not get the grades required to attend university. We have individuals who failed to get into university, with their low entrance qualifications, going to teacher training colleges and teaching our future generations. I have met primary school teachers who cannot read. At the moment we have the least-qualified training and mentoring our future generations. What impact will that have on the children they are teaching? Nigeria needs to create centres of educational excellence. Are incentives part of the solution to get highly skilled people into our education system? Do we need 200 universities or 180 universities and 20 specialised universities that can produce experts for different sectors? For example, a state university could specialise in a particular area – like agriculture, mining, technology or tourism – based on the economic growth priorities of that state. The research from these universities could then be used by the state government, and even further afield, to inform and shape policy. Politicians are not supposed to be experts themselves, but should have the nous to draw on the knowledge of others in order to tackle critical issues and promote development. This is how Nigeria started, but we have lost our way. Future leaders with integrity Nigerians who have worked at places like the World Bank for decades are being encouraged to come back to the country to head ministries and agencies. This should be regarded as an upward career move. Currently, the reverse is true. Many treat it as a stepping stone to another prominent position in an international institution. Returnees like that bring experience and new ideas, certainly, but their effectiveness and long-term impact has been limited by a lack of ownership. They do not have sufficient “skin in the game”; they see their own future outside the country and are not sufficiently committed to Nigeria’s long-term development and success. I do not begrudge such people their career decisions, but the country needs and deserves more. We need more committed leaders in strategic positions of governance if we are to start tacking tomorrow’s problems today. By Henry Umoru ABUJA—SOUTH-East Senate Caucus, yesterday, took a swipe at the Minister of Transportation, Mr Chibuike Amaechi, over the alleged deliberate exclusion of the Eastern corridor of Nigeria’s rail lines from the proposed $5.8 billion loan from China Exim Bank by the Federal Government. Minister of Transportation, Mr Chibuike Amaechi and chairman, South-East Senate Caucus, Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe In a statement yesterday, by chairman, South-East Senate Caucus, Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe, the Senators asked Amaechi to explain why the South-East corridor was scheduled for concessionaires to build while other rail line corridors in other parts of the country would be built with funds borrowed by the Federal Government which every part of the country would pay. It would be recalled that Abaribe had last week raised alarm that the South-East, South-South corridors were omitted in the $5.8 billion China Exim Bank loan sought by the Federal Government to develop rail lines in parts of the country. Reacting to a press statement issued by the Federal Ministry of Transportation that the South-East zone was not omitted as alleged by the Senate, as Aba and Onitsha are among towns covered by the coastal railway corridor, Senator Abaribe, who sponsored the motion in the Senate said: “My motion is not only about the South-East, but about the second major railway corridor in Nigeria, built by the British, which covers South-South, South-East, North-Central and North-East. “The corridor is from Port Harcourt to Maiduguri, it covers over 100 towns and major cities, not about Aba or Onitsha, far from it. It industrialized many cities and gave jobs directly and indirectly to thousands. “In addition, the letter from Mr. President seeking for expedited action on approval of the loan did not specify when the eastern corridor would be modernized. “It said negotiations are on to get a concessionaire for the eastern line. In other words, while we borrow for the western line, we must wait to get some entity interested to concession the eastern line.” Asked, why the railway corridor cannot wait for next phase as proposed by Senator Gbenga Ashafa, Abaribe said: “If it is our collective money saved out of our earnings, we can wait for the next season, but since it is collective debt, why don’t we endeavour to borrow enough and stimulate the growth of every region at the same period? “Don’t you know that railways, more than any other infrastructure, is critical to the growth of the economy. It is a big catalyst for the creation of jobs and creation of new towns. “Besides, all those on the over 100 towns and villages served by the eastern line would suffer double jeopardy by paying twice. One for the collective debt and also for the concession costs which would be borne solely by them.” “What must be done now; It is my candid view that the Federal Ministry of Transport should approach the Chinese Exim bank or any other source to raise the requisite funds to execute the Port Harcourt – Maiduguri Railway Corridor; what is good for the goose is good for the gander. “When the Federal Government constructs the standard gauge for Lagos-Kano and leave the Eastern Corridor empty, how do we convince Boko Haram and IPOB boys that they are not marginalized and excluded?” http://www.vanguardngr.com/2017/05/s-east-senators-tackle-amaechi-over-omission-of-s-east-s-south-from-rail-corridor/

A Federal High Court sitting in Awka, Anambra State, will tomorrow deliver its ruling on an application filed by a manufacturer, Benjamin Nwizu, seeking to quash the charge preferred against him by the Federal Government over alleged products counterfeiting. Nwizu, who is the Managing Director of Bendusco Nigeria Limited, Onitsha, is being prosecuted before Justice I. B. Gafai on a four-count charge. The charges border on manufacturing, storing and distribution of substandard tooth brush, breaking of seal order and non-compliance with Standard Organisation of Nigeria, SON’s regulations. His counsel, Mr. Chuka Onyali , in the application filed last week, had asked the court to quash the charge for being an abuse of court processes. Onyali also argued that the amended charge filed by the prosecution should be discountenanced as it was the same with the one already in process. Responding, the prosecutor, Mr. Joseph Olofindare, argued that the charge was valid and that the application to quash it should be dismissed by the court. Following their submissions, the judge consequently adjourned the matter till tomorrow for ruling. Gafai had also granted him bail following his earlier remand in prison custody at his arraignment. The judge ordered Nwizu to produce a surety, who must not be lower than a Grade Level 8 Officer in the Anambra State Civil Service. In the charge, Nwizu was alleged to have committed the offence in October 2014. http://www.vanguardngr.com/2017/05/anambra-man-accussed-product-counterfeiting-knows-fate-tomorrow/ |
By Olasunkanmi Akoni LAGOS— Two teenagers, who fled their parents’ home in Abuja for Lagos because of what they described as their parents’ poor conditions, have been re-united with their families. The 13-year-old boys were rescued by the operatives of Rapid Response Squad, RRS, of the Lagos State Police Command last Monday, after they alighted from an Abuja bus at Ojodu Berger, Lagos. The squad Commander, Assistant Commissioner Olatunji Disu, who confirmed the incident, said the teenagers were sighted by the officers wandering around Ojodu-Berger before they were invited for questioning. The children had initially lied to the officers that they were kidnapped and blindfolded before they were driven to Lagos by their abductors, from who they escaped. The officers later moved the boys to the RRS Headquarters, while investigations into their claims were launched. Their parents, who have been looking for the boys in Abuja since Sunday, May 14, were shocked when they were contacted and told their children were in the custody of RRS in Lagos. It took three days of questioning before the boys opened up, confessing that they left Abuja because of their parents’ poor conditions. According to one of them, “we noticed that our parents were suffering to take care of us. We decided to come to Lagos and work for some time. Whatever we are able to raise in six months, we will handover to our parents for them to start business. “We realised that the hardship was too much and that we would be helping them if we leave our families in Abuja in search of better opportunities in Lagos. The other said: “We combined my N4,200 savings with his (the other boy) N500 to transport ourselves to Lagos. We were already in Lagos before we realised that we were simply being stupid. “We were wandering about when the .officer invited us for questioning.” The RRS Commander, who received the parents of the teenagers on their fifth day in custody, appealed to parents and guardians to monitor and take good care of their wards. The boys were re-united with their parents on Friday after they promised not to repeat such action. http://www.vanguardngr.com/2017/05/came-raise-capital-poor-parents-13-yr-olds-fled-abuja-lagos/

The Unity Forum Gashua (UFG) yesterday debunked reports in the media that the Senate Leader, Sen. Ahmad Lawan (APC, Yobe North) was attacked during a visit to his constituency. Chairman of the forum, Alhaji Usman Jambo, described the report as “concocted barrage of lies by faceless elements intended to malign the personality of the Senate leader. According to him, “That his motorcade was blocked last Friday along Nguru-Gashua road was completely false, misleading, preposterous and a figment of imagination by desperate politicians who feel threatened by the towering qualities of Sen. Ahmad Lawan. “It did not happen and will never happen by the grace of God. For the avoidance of doubt, Sen. Ahmad Lawan was on that very Friday in Daura, Katsina State where he attended the wedding fatiha of the daughter of the Director General of the Department of State Service (DSS), Malam Lawan Daura, and therefore couldn’t have been in Yobe at the same time. “It’s important to note that Sen. Lawan had last month successfully inspected the ongoing Nguru-Gashua road construction, which is under his constituency, and everyone knows that he is representing his people very well for nearly twenty years and commands enormous respect in Yobe and beyond,” he said. “As members of his senatorial zone, we feel satisfied and proud of his performance in the Senate. We wish to assure him and the entire world of our unalloyed support and cooperation as he continues to represent us,” he added. https://www.dailytrust.com.ng/news/politics/senate-leader-not-attacked-group/198629.html

”The claim that the Igbo helped to develop Lagos is hogwash. The major institutions of the south-west were developed by the diligence, hard-work, industry and sweat of the Yoruba people. This is a historical fact”- Femi Fani-Kayode I posted these words on my Facebook wall as a fallout of the hot debate that was generated after the relocation from Lagos to Anambra of 19 Igbo destitute by the Lagos State Government. Immediately after the posting, all hell broke loose on my wall and all sorts of excitable and emotion-laden comments and assertions were made on the thread. I welcomed each and every one of those comments including those that accused me of being a tribalist and a Yoruba nationalist. That is the spirit of debate and we cannot all possibly agree on everything. Needless to say I stand by every word that I wrote in the post and those that do not share my view are free to hold their own opinion. My assertion is based on history and knowledge and not emotion. The facts are clear and the records speak for themselves. I will go no further than that because it is about time that Nigerians from the younger generation learnt to do their own research and to study their own history. I will not allow the mob mentality or the wild emotions of others to becloud my thinking or to intimidate me into distorting the truth. The Igbo had little to do with the extraordinary development of Lagos between 1880 right up until today. That is a fact. Other than Ajegunle, Computer Town, Alaba and buying up numerous market stalls in Isale Eko, where is their input? Meanwhile the Yoruba of the old Western Region and Lagos were very gracious to them and not only allowed them to return after the civil war to claim their properties and jobs but also welcomed them with open arms and allowed them to flourish in our land. This is something that they have never done for our people in the east. Such gestures of love and fraternity were never reciprocated. Now some of them have the effrontery to call Lagos, which is our land and the land of our forefathers (I am half Lagosian), ”no-man’s land” and others have the nerve to assert that up to 50 per cent of the development in Lagos came as a consequence of the input of the Igbo. This is utter rubbish. Those that do not know any better ought to go and learn rather than vent their hostilities and ignorance against me here or on my Facebook wall. I am not a tribalist but a great believer in Nigeria and more importantly, I am a historian and a student of history. I will not distort the facts of history just to keep some people happy. The history of the Yoruba, and of Lagos particularly, is very well known to me. And the fact that Lagosians and the Yoruba people generally are so generous and accommodating in their ways and to non-indigenes that settle in their territory should not be mistaken for ignorance, stupidity or weakness. We know our history, we know who we are, we know who and what developed our land and made it into what it is and we urge those that yearn to be like us to go and emulate our efforts and attitude to non-indigenes and hard work in their own states of origin. I have nothing against my fellow Nigerians from other parts of the country and I have proved over and over again that I love Nigeria and that I am a Nigerian before anything else. However if, in the twisted imagination of some, speaking the truth about the history and development of Lagos and the Western Region makes me a tribalist, then tribalist I am. Servants of truth do not fear such labels and are often hated and misunderstood. If I were worried about what others thought of me I would have stopped writing long ago. Meanwhile, permit me to recommend to all and sundry the following words of an insightful Nigerian by name Sina Fagbenro-Byron. He has had the courage to analyse the matter in a very honest, clear and forthright manner and he has spoken the truth. Let us hope that those that have no knowledge of that truth are humble enough to learn from it. He wrote- ”It has become a recent habit by a number of our young Igbo brethren to refer to Lagos as a ‘no-man’s land. The great Zik, Mbadiwe, Mbonu Ojike, Ajuluchukwu, Opara etc would never have made such statements as they knew better. It is not only unfair but in extremely bad taste apart from the fact that it is historically false. How can you call a land that has had over 400 years of traditional rulership and cultural definition as a no man’s land? It shows contempt for the indigenes, ingratitude of hospitality and a betrayal of ones host. The late Herbert Macauley( a Yoruba Lagosian) on his dying bed endorsed Zik as successor leader of the NCNC because of his nationalism, intellectual sagacity and it was endorsed by a group of Yoruba elders and not by any Igbo population who in any case were infinitesimal at the time. Chinua Achebe records in his book, and we can roughly confirm that there were not more than a few thousand Igbos in Lagos before the civil war. So after having been received, accommodated by their host, the Yorubas, since the 1940s, a generation that is ignorant of history and careless of historical relationship refer to Lagos as no mans land, this attitude is the cause of the perennial Jos crisis amongst others. When the military stopped the teaching of history in schools in the 1980s, we knew that by allowing them, we courted confusion, but it was deliberate. Up till1968 , Mushin, Apapa, Ikeja, were all part of the Western Region. The English treaty was with the Oba of Eko Ile,(Lagos). Lagos traditional families all are Yoruba and the founder of Eko was Ogunfunminire who migrated from Ife before the 16th century. Lagos traditional Obaship was confirmed on behalf of the Oduduwa dynasty. If we consider it unfair to call Igbo property ‘abandoned property’ after the civil war, why should they refer to another mans backyard as no man’s land. Lagos had been the commercial nerve centre of West Africa before Nigeria was created and this was attributable to the welcoming attitude of coastal Yorubas, which was first betrayed by the Portuguese who introduced slave trade, the Kiriji war and the 100-year Yoruba civil war of 1769-1869 also saw a huge population from the other Yoruba Hinterland moving to Lagos to procure salt, guns, seek out their freed slave brethren etc and these led to the growth of Lagos. Since independence and after the civil war, other Nigerians have made Lagos a home for themselves , but none have been so unkind as to call Lagos a no man’s land. Igbos who say this and claim credit for the development of Lagos should remember that the first Industrial Estate in Nigeria was built by Awolowo in Ikeja as Premier of the West and the Western house on Broad street has significant historical importance. I would urge my Igbo brethren not to make true the words of Sardauna when he described the Igbos as having a tendency to come in as visitors and seek to claim ownership to the exclusion of indigenes. If Onitsha or Abakaliki is not no man’s land, why should Lagos be. Imagine how our Niger Delta brethren will feel if we refer to their space on God’s earth as no man’s Land?” Fagbemi-Byron has hit the nail on the head and I wholeheartedly commend him for his courage. Frankly I could not have put it better myself. How I wish that more of those that are in the younger generation today would indulge in the type of research and scholarship that this man has obviously done. He, and those that value truth and knowledge like him, are the true Nigerians and thankfully I believe that there are many like him in every tribe and nationality in this great country. May God grant them the courage to speak out and cure the ignorant of their ignorance. God bless Nigeria. http://www.premiumtimesng.com/opinion/142210-lagos-the-igbo-and-the-servants-of-truth-by-femi-fani-kayode.html

teelaw4life:Are you the one being talked about here? |
as shared on whatsapp group. Pls comment and share after reading for others to learn. I graduated from Olabisi Onabanjo University OOU in Ogun state year 2003 with Bsc in Chemistry. After my graduation I spent 2 year in ijebu loitering around the street seeking job with series of application but non yield a good result. I left Ogun state for Lagos the first Sunday of September 2005 to make a better living as a man. Arriving at the Ajah motor park, I picked up my belongings and proceeded to the next available ATM machine cos I had no money left on me, while in the line at the ATM machine, I felt a touch behind me, to my surprise, it was my classmate back in my primary school days, I was so happy to meet him again cos I had no ties in Lagos but left Ogun state wit the hope of being a successful man. He took me to a nearby restaurant in his Toyota corolla sport car and entertained me with delicious meal and chilled drinks. I quickly explained to him my condition and experience of unemployment, he took me to his apartment in one of the biggest estate in Ajah, gave me a room to stay till I Finally have a place of my own, he fed me and took charge my responsibilities. I spent weeks loitering the street of Lagos visiting different companies and offices for employment, finally my friend came up with an idea of introducing me to his business. I was so happy and agreed to join his business not knowing his an internet fraudsters. I had no choice than to join his business called yahoo. I worked hard for months but got nothing out of it, I didn't give up cos my friend was my backbone financially. One faithful night, I called upon my friend to show the way how he does his to earn so much money weekly, but he keeps telling "don't give up, every hustler got a pay day" which is true. I continued but all my effort were fruitless, I begged him to show me the way and finally he told me I had to consult their Godfathers for guidance, I had no choice than to agreed to visit their Godfather the following weekend. The following weekend we visited his place, he was an old man with bald head and a gray hair, he welcomed us and my friend introduced me to him, he asked me all I wanted, I explained and he answered "my son I already can see your struggle, you need not to worry anymore all you need is a living snake and a nail and leave the rest to me". To me it was all a joke cos I was wondering if he was a juju priest or pastor. I told him I can't touch a dead snake let alone of holding a living snake, so he charge me a N100,000 to get the materials including his workmanship then told me to come back for my charm in a week time. We went there the following week and he delivered to me a snake skin belt and a nail, explaining " keep the nail on your bedroom wall and use this waist belt everyday, at night hang the belt using the nail I have on my wall, go to sleep and wake up by 2:30 am wait few min and put a plate of bean cake known as (ekuru in Yoruba) below the position of the nail before 3am and go back to sleep". I did as he instructed for years and everything turned around for good. Started getting paid with huge foreign currencies weekly sometime 3 times a week. Every night I hang my belt it turns to a snake and crawl to everywhere have been to during that day to gather their riches for me the second day. I acquired a lot of wealth luxuries and my story turned to glory. I did this for over 5 years and its work perfectly till one night in the sixth year of the active cham, I failed to get a bean cake cos it rained heavily, I had no choice than to go to sleep cos I was already drunk after arriving for a get together party. I went to bed that unfortunate night without having the bean cake in its position, the belt transformed into a snake and left as usual. I woke around 2:45 am and remembered I had no bean cake, few mins later the snaked arrived and found no bean cake, the snake disappeared immediately. Since that night have not been my self again I do feel a snake living inside me and keeps biting me, I feel series of pain and all I had acquired fled away. Have been living this way for the past a year waiting for my death. Please wait in the Lord and he will bless you abundantly cos no deity give without taking something more valuable in return. Please share my story let people learn from my mistake. God bless you as you safe people from the devil and his advocate.

By Vincent Ujumadu , Anayo Okoli, Chinedu Adonu & Kelechukwu Iruoma …We’re monitoring IPOB, MASSOB activities— Abia Police …’We’ve achieved Biafra without violence — BIM AWKA —AS the 30th May, 2017 Biafra Day remembrance draws near, the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has urged its members, including those in the Diaspora, to use the day to show the world that they still cherished the efforts of their heroes who paid the supreme sacrifice for Biafrans to live. IPOB Media and Publicity Secretary, Comrade Emma Powerful, said in a statement yesterday that all IPOB units within and outside Biafra had been directed to participate in street demonstrations, rallies, lectures and prayers, saying the day would go down in history as one of the greatest events ever organized by man. According to him, the leadership of IPOB had also noted with satisfaction the preparations being made in some countries for the event, including the United Kingdom, Angola, Mozambique, Congo DR, Namibia and Tanzania. IPOB members on solidarity march He said: “IPOB, under the leadership and supreme command of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu wants every IPOB family member to prove to the entire world that we remain the pre-eminent freedom fighting outfit anywhere on earth at this moment. “We have been directed by our leader to demonstrate our formidability and resoluteness in our respective countries of residence across the globe in such a manner that our heroes, wherever they lie, even in unmarked graves in forgotten battlefields, will be proud of what they achieved 50 years ago. “Biafrans, both home and abroad, must honour and remember our heroes and heroines that died to stop the total Islamization of the sacred land of Biafra and perpetual enslavement of the children of God. “The exceptionally gallant soldiers of the class of 67-70 and the fearless IPOB family (including MASSOB members killed over the years) during numerous protests and rallies to free Biafra, paid the ultimate price by sacrificing their lives that we may live. It is therefore the patriotic duty of every right-thinking Biafran to respect the sacrifice these brave men and women made for our survival as a race. Referendum “IPOB will use this event to conclusively prove to the whole world that we are ready for the upcoming referendum for Biafra sovereignty. “IPOB and its leadership will also prove to the Nigerian agents in our midst that the historic event of the 30th of May 2017 Remembrance Day celebration and sit-at-home order issued by our supreme leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, will be a watershed in the struggle for the liberation of Biafra and a remarkable one in the history of our nation. After this sit-at-home, which is a mini referendum for us, comes the real referendum later this year. “IPOB is the largest, most potent freedom fighting outfit anywhere in the world right now and we stand to prove this on the 30th of May 2017. “In Biafraland and certain parts of Nigeria, Biafrans are required to stay at home and not venture outside. There will be a complete lockdown of Biafraland and major cities where Biafrans have a significant population concentration, like Sabon Gari in Kano, Lagos, Kaduna, Zaria and Abuja.” Powerful described as pathetic and downright unpatriotic, the attitude of certain individuals, who, he added, hide under the banner of Biafra to be serving a Northern Nigeria agenda. “These elements and their groups, not content with duping people in the name of Biafra, have brought shame and infamy to themselves and their groups by attempting to discourage our people from honouring our heroes. “They have collected money from their sponsors to try and disrespect our heroes that fought and died for us. These people without shame or honour, have forgotten that MASSOB members died at the hands of the same people they have gone to collect money from to stop a remembrance that includes honouring their own members that died in service to Biafra. This is the height of evil and betrayal of the very worst kind,” he further said. We are monitoring IPOB, MASSOB activities—Abia police But yesterday in Abia state, ahead of their planned Biafra Day celebration, the Abia State Police Commissioner, Mr. Leye Oyebade, said that the command is monitoring the activities of members of IPOB and MASSOB, adding that for now, there is no threat to security. Leye also said that the command was monitoring the threat given by a faction of the leadership of National Association of Nigerian Students, NANS, which allegedly threatened to burn down the Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike, over alleged long-standing dispute between the factional leader and the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Francis Otunta, with a view to ensuring that nothing awful happens there. The Police Commissioner, who spoke Monday, while parading 28 suspects involved in various criminal activities, including armed robbery, car snatching, burglary, defilement and cultism, explained that the command has “rejuvenated the security machinery of Aba and increased the personnel to ensure that Aba is secured for business. “We still need more logistics from the state government and more information from the people. People are trying in providing information; we are being proactive. We have been raiding criminal hideouts, flashpoints and the outcome has been positive. “What we have done in Aba, we are going to sustain it. We still have criminals there but we are going to push all of them out. We want to make Aba safe for business”, the Police commissioner said. Meanwhile, Oyebade has been recognized by an international organization, African Emerging Leadership Research and Development Organisation, AELDO, for “his distinguished service to humanity, uprightness in maintaining law and order, commitment and dedication to duty”. ‘We’ve achieved Biafra without violence’ Also yesterday, a leader and elder-in-council of the Movement for the Actualization of Sovereign State of Biafra, MASSOB, Zone C West Lagos, Comrade Calistus Eze said that Chief Ralph Uwazurike led group has succeeded in achieving Biafra without violence. Eze, who said this during a press conference on Biafra Independence in Lagos, also said: “When we started, it looked like a child’s play. Nobody believed it, but today MASSOB/BIM has achieved Biafra Independence through non-violence, which was the principle that Mahtma Gandhi used in India.” He urged Biafrans to go out and celebrate on May 22nd, which according to him, is a day set aside to celebrate the independence of Biafra. It will be recalled that on May 22, 2000, MASSOB leader, Uwazurike redeclared Biafra in Abia State, for the proper emancipation of Easterners from Nigeria. When asked how he thought Biafra had been achieved having not been declared, he said: “Everything being done is a formality. We insiders know that Biafra has been achieved. On May 22, we will celebrate the independence of Biafra. Therefore, we urge all Biafrans to go out and celebrate, for we are free indeed.” http://www.vanguardngr.com/2017/05/biafra-day-must-show-heroes-care-ipob/

By Levinus Nwabughiogu ABUJA- In a manner that apparently portrays an affinity between them, Acting President Yemi Osinbajo has said that President Muhammadu Buhari sees him as a brother and also treats him like his son. He spoke in Katsina, the home state of President Buhari on Thursday while launching the State’s version of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise, MSMEs clinic. Osinbajo’s latest position has overtly countered the perception in some quarters that there may not be any love lost between him and his boss following the wording of a recent letter the President wrote to the National Assembly, announcing a transfer of power to him (Osinbajo). President Buhari had on Sunday at the verge of his departure to London for a follow-up on his medicals written to the National Parliament, informing the lawmakers of his trip abroad in the fulfillment of Section 145 of the 1999 constitution. While many expected the president to categorically state that Osinbajo would “act” in his stead, the President in the letter said that his vice will “coordinate” the activities of government in his absence. The development didn’t sink well to many and has consequently elicited concerns across the nation. But in a series of tweets @akandeoj yesterday, the spokesman to the Acting President, Laolu Akande quoted Osinbajo as saying that President Buhari has assigned him many responsibilities outside treating him like a son. The remarks were however a response to the benign and hospital words of the Emir of Katsina to Osinbajo who had said “Here you are home, welcome to the most peaceful state”. We all sit together side by side”, during the launch. Responding Osinbajo said: “I feel very much @home in KT. Moreso because this is the State of the President who has taken me as a brother.” “In fact, the President has taken me as a son in the way he treats me”. “The amount of responsibilities President Buhari has given me shows he seriously believes we can live together as brothers”. “I pray the Lord will preserve our President to continue to lead as the nation has voted him to do. He seriously believes in Nigeria unity. http://www.vanguardngr.com/2017/05/buhari-takes-brother-treats-like-son-says-osinbajo/

Olalekan Adetayo and Eniola Akinkuotu Leaders of Chibok community , under the aegis of Kibaku Area Development Association , have faulted a negotiator , Zannah Mustapha , for saying that some abducted schoolgirls refused to be part of a group of 82 girls freed at the weekend . The Chairman , Chibok Community in Abuja, Hosea Tsambido , told reporters in Abuja , on Tuesday , that the attitude of the Federal Government was not only suspicious but was at variance with how the government handled the rescue of the 21 schoolgirls in October last year. Tsambido said the community would never accept such a claim because the government could use it as an excuse to give up on the rescue of the other girls . He added , “The most disheartening and annoying thing is the statement credited to one of the negotiators who said some of the girls refused to come out . We don ’ t want to hear that , even if the girls don ’ t want to come out , it is not for him to advertise . “The girls must come out , whether they like it or not ; they should force them out , just as they were forced in , they should be forced out . As their mind was changed by Boko Haram, when they return to us , we will change their mind back . ” Tsambido said some politicians from Borno State were allowed to see the girls , who are currently in the custody of the Department of State Services, lamenting that Chibok leaders , resident in Abuja , were denied access to the girls . He added , “We have still not been contacted ; parents have still not been contacted . All I was told is that some people from Chibok , two district heads and the former and present chairmen of the local government area, came to Abuja and were allowed access to the girls . Some community leaders from Abuja , who went with them , were barred from entering . ’’ The leader explained that he had matched the names of the freed girls with the list he had with him . “I started comparing the list with the one that I have and I have seen a good number of the names that matched the list I have , so I believe that they are the Chibok girls , ” Tsambido stated . In a statement by Oby Ezekwesili and Aisha Yesufu , the co - conveners of the Bring Back Our Girls group , the BBOG said it had begun the verification of the identities of the rescued girls . It said some of the parents had already developed health problems like hypertension, arguing that the continued suspense could worsen their conditions . The statement read in part, “Our movement has begun the elementary process of verification and authentication of the identities of our released 82 Chibok girls based on the list in the public domain ( this list alone does not suffice for our process ) . We shall communicate our full report to the public soon . “We urge the Federal Government to use the verification , authentication , and reunification system in confirming the identities of our returned girls . “We also urge the Federal Government to quickly liaise with parents of our Chibok girls and the Kibaku Area Development Association i . e . the Chibok community as was done in the four previous times our girls returned . ” One of the girls refused peace deal because of marriage One of the kidnapped schoolgirls refused to be part of those to be released because she had married one of the Boko Haram fighters, according to Garba Shehu, one of the spokesmen for President Muhammadu Buhari . Shehu stated that the militants had agreed to the release of 83 of the teenagers , who were abducted from the Government Secondary School , Chibok , Borno State, in April 2014. Speaking on Channels Television on Tuesday , he said , “One said, ‘ No, I have a husband . I ’ m happy where I am ’; and then , 82 came back . ” Shehu said the government was working to verify the identities of the 82, so they could be reunited with their families as soon as possible . “Names of the released girls have been published already but we do not want a repeat of duplications that we had when the first set of 21 girls were released. “Because of similarities in names , we had two or three sets of parents coming on the assumptions that the girls mentioned were theirs . We don ’ t want to create that confusion , ” he stated . He added that the Federal Government would not stop any parent from immediately establishing contact with their daughters . Rather than stopping them from meeting their daughters , the presidential spokesman said government would facilitate a quick reunion . Shehu said, “Yesterday ( Monday) , photographs of all the girls were taken. These pictures were printed and dispatched to Chibok . “These young ladies did not all come from Chibok township itself but some from various settlements scattered around the town. ” He explained that once the parents get the pictures and verify the identities of their daughters , they are free to come to Abuja to meet with their daughters . Shehu described the long distance between Abuja and Chibok as another challenge, saying the journey by road would take two days . http://punchng.com/girls-refusing-rescue-should-be-forced-out-chibok-leaders/

…BIM/MASSOB begs security agencies …Lawyer carpets Nyako over Kanu’s bail conditions By Dennis Agbo & Nwabueze Okonkwo ENUGU— Sequel to the steam being generated by the planned anniversary celebration of Biafra, the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, has asked its members to stay at home on May 30. IPOB Spokesman, Mr Emma Powerful, said they chose to sit at home and reminiscent over their fallen heroes than to march on the streets where the Nigeria security agents could mull them down. IPOB members on solidarity march BIM/MASSOB begs security agencies Similarly, members of the Biafra Independent Movement, BIM/MASSOB, under the leadership of Chief Ralph Uwazuruike, have pleaded with security agencies to allow them celebrate in peace the 18th anniversary of MASSOB slated for May 22 to May 30. BIM/MASSOB reiterated that the group was not a violent organization but peaceful agitators, pursuing self determination as enshrined in international human rights charter. BIM/MASSOB leader for Enugu West Province, Chief Edwin Iloagu, said the group will roll out drums to celebrate 18 years of renewed agitation for Biafra and pleaded with the police and army to allow them express their common desire. Iloagu, who spoke with newsmen in Enugu, said the programme is a seven-day event that will end on May 30 , to correspond with the date the late Biafra leader, Dim Chukwuemeka Ojukwu, declared the defunct Biafra Republic. He stated that starting from May 22, thanksgiving church services, peaceful procession, cultural displays and football matches will be held with a grand finale on May 30. Sit at home In its submission, IPOB said: “We wish to alert Biafrans, friends of Biafra and lovers of Biafra freedom about the strategies mapped out by the Nigerian government and her security agencies to deal with the people of Biafra during the remembrance day celebration of our fallen heroes and heroines that laid down their lives during the genocidal war of 1967 and 1970. “Nevertheless, we are calling on every Biafran to stay at home on that particular day to avoid the security operatives who wish to kill the people of Biafra for nothing.” Lawyer carpets Nyako over Kanu bail conditions Meantime, a legal practitioner in Onitsha, Anambra State and immediate past chairman of Nigerian Bar Association, NBA, Idemili branch, Ben Okoko, has carpeted Justice Binta Nyako of the Federal High Court, Abuja for what he termed her discriminatory and strange bail conditions granted IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu. He said the conditions were glaringly so discriminatory and strange that they are tantamount to setting a dangerous precedence. Speaking to newsmen in Onitsha, yesterday, Okoko, however, urged the IPOB leader not to be deterred by the bail conditions handed to him because, according to him, as a freedom fighter, Kanu should know that freedom fighters all over the world are more or less like political prisoners.
